Chapter Thirty-Three: Lin Chuyin
Fang Mu felt a stirring in his heart. The others were oblivious, and his gun was already aimed at them... If he wished, he was absolutely certain he could send a bullet straight through their skull!
But...
He frowned slightly at this thought and glanced at the other three... Suddenly, his eyes narrowed sharply.
He saw, just in time, a thin man draw his blade. In an instant, a burst of white light erupted, and the massive corpse of the Gale Tiger was sliced into scattered chunks of bloody flesh in the blink of an eye...
Fang Mu involuntarily drew a cold breath.
“A Silver-tier Evolver!”
He stared intently at the thin man. Judging from his weapon, the man likely followed the “Berserker Blade” profession.
The Berserker Blade, much like the Gunfighter, was a specialized profession. Its hallmark was overwhelming attack power and speed.
Compared to other professionals, this speed was almost a crushing advantage.
The Gale Tiger was a Bronze-tier creature—even dead, it was not easily dissected. Yet this man had carved it up so effortlessly, revealing his terrifying prowess!
The flash of the blade was so swift that Fang Mu felt, if he were facing it himself, he would instantly be reduced to a pile of parts, just like the Gale Tiger...
At that moment, the urge to fire was thoroughly suppressed.
A Silver-tier Evolver was worlds apart from a Bronze-tier one. If he opened fire, he might take out the sniper, but his own position would inevitably be exposed, and then he’d be in grave danger.
He was merely an Iron-tier. His speed couldn’t match even a Bronze-tier, let alone a Silver-tier. At this distance, if his position were revealed, he would have zero chance of escaping the pursuit of a Silver-tier Berserker Blade.
Annoyed as he was, he had no intention of going down with them!
Buzz, buzz!
Just then, a sudden buzzing from his chest startled Fang Mu.
Realizing it was his communicator, he breathed a sigh of relief, frowned, and took it out to check. His frown deepened.
The note read “Cheap Little Sister.”
Lin Chuyin?
What did she want now?
Given the current predicament, Fang Mu felt a bit agitated.
He had long forgotten the promise he had made days ago.
After a moment’s thought, he answered the call.
“All right, what do you want?”
He hadn’t spoken yet, when Lin Chuyin’s voice sounded on the other end. She sounded tired and impatient.
Fang Mu was baffled.
You contacted me, and now you’re asking what I want?
“Why aren’t you saying anything again?”
After waiting a while, Lin Chuyin grew annoyed and snapped.
Again?
Fang Mu keenly caught the word. He realized something—his communicator had just been taken by that person who had turned into a dried corpse.
Could it be that he had contacted Lin Chuyin?
He checked his call log, and sure enough, there was a call record from just over two hours ago, lasting more than a minute.
Now Fang Mu more or less understood what had happened. He exhaled lightly and finally spoke, “It’s nothing.”
“Nothing? You called me for nothing? Hmph, I told you to contact me three days ago, and now it’s been so long! If you regret it, it’s too late!”
Lin Chuyin’s voice was cold and tinged with anger.
Her reminder jogged Fang Mu’s memory.
There had indeed been such a promise—on the day he obtained the ring, she told him to contact her five days later.
But after returning, he acquired the Primordial Energy Cultivation Technique. One round of cultivation took five days, followed by intense hunger and excitement... How could he remember such a minor episode?
He hadn’t expected her to remember...
But regret? Hardly. The previous call had been made by that melee fighter.
Most likely, he saw the note and wanted to probe his identity.
“It’s nothing, I accidentally pressed it.”
From Lin Chuyin’s earlier words, Fang Mu guessed she hadn’t spoken during the call, so he simply said this.
“Accidentally pressed it?”
Lin Chuyin seemed exasperated. To use the communicator, one had to unlock it, enter the call interface, and then dial.
Accidentally pressed it?
Does she look like a fool?
“Fine, since that’s the case, I’m hanging up!”
She seemed truly angry, and after saying this, hung up.
Fang Mu looked at the communicator with some helplessness and exhaled. Then, remembering something, he quickly turned to his scope, only to find the four-person team had already left the tiger’s corpse and moved farther away, apparently departing.
Fang Mu frowned and looked at the tiger’s body... Some chunks of meat remained, but the most valuable parts had already been taken by the group.
He felt his face twitch... In the end, he couldn’t even keep his spoils...
Yet, thinking of his own gains, he felt a bit better.
A single Gale Tiger wasn’t enough to buy a D-785. In the end, he hadn’t lost out...
Still, the group was traveling late into the night, clearly with a definite goal. It seemed they came to Gale Gorge partly to help those people, but mostly because it was conveniently on their way...
Should he just let them leave?
Fang Mu’s face twitched again, recalling those three shots and feeling dissatisfied.
He didn’t see himself as petty, but he wasn’t so magnanimous as to let it go when someone had tried to kill him!
But their team included a Silver-tier Berserker Blade... And judging by their interactions, they were clearly equals. That meant the other two melee fighters were likely Silver-tier Evolvers as well. If he fired now, he’d almost certainly get trapped.
After a moment, Fang Mu gritted his teeth.
“Fine, I’ll follow you and see where you’re headed...”
With that thought, he made up his mind to follow them.
He wanted to see their destination, and find an opportunity to take down that man named Chang Le!
You like sneak attacks?
I’ll let you taste what it’s like to be ambushed!
Assassination...
As a professional Gunfighter...
Fang Mu was an expert!
With this resolved, he wasted no time, stowed his newly acquired firearm, and swiftly ran down the mountain... The group was nearly out of his sight...
...
...
After angrily hanging up, Lin Chuyin’s exquisite face was pale, tinged with irritation and anger.
That bastard—she thought something had happened to him, so she called out of concern, only for him to claim he dialed by mistake?
He didn’t even feel a shred of embarrassment!
She only intended to give him a chance because of Aunt Xu! Not only did he stand her up, he dared to toy with her?
Lin Chuyin’s fury deepened. She decided that even if Aunt Xu begged her in the future, she would absolutely, absolutely never pay any attention to that bastard again!
A hopeless case!
Let him fend for himself!
Lin Chuyin was livid.
“Chuyin, how’s your injury?”
The ponytailed girl’s voice sounded beside her.
Lin Chuyin snapped back to reality, took a deep breath, and her expression returned to calm.
“Just a minor wound, nothing serious... Has the casualty report come out yet?”
She looked at the ponytailed girl.
