“Nothing,” Nian Yu replied. “But could you smoke less in front of me?”

Zhou Yu gave an awkward chuckle. “Well, it’s getting rather late. You should get some rest.”

Nian Yu rolled her eyes at him. “All you know how to do is change the subject. Even if I fell asleep, wouldn’t you just wake me up anyway?”

Chuckling, Zhou Yu took two deep drags on his cigarette, stubbed it out, and hurriedly jumped onto the bed.

Seeing how eager he was, Nian Yu gave him a shove. “Take off your clothes before you get in.”

Zhou Yu quickly stripped himself completely bare, then slipped beneath the covers. Before long, the entire room was filled with springtime warmth.

“I woke up ages ago,” Nian Yu replied. “I even had breakfast. When I came back upstairs and saw how amusing you looked sleeping, I just kept watching.”

Zhou Yu sat up and looked toward the head of the bed. “What was so amusing? Besides, it’s not as though you’ve never slept with me before.”

Nian Yu smiled. “But I’d never seen you drool and smack your lips in your sleep.”

Zhou Yu lowered his head and saw a small patch of moisture on the pillow. Even with his thick skin, his face reddened at once.

Seeing his flushed expression, Nian Yu began laughing again.

When Zhou Yu realized she was still making fun of him, he pulled her toward him and pretended he was about to kiss her.

Nian Yu hurriedly said, “Stop fooling around. Chief of Staff Xiao is waiting for you downstairs.”

Zhou Yu frowned. “What does that old man want with me so early in the morning?”

Nian Yu smiled. “Early morning? It’s almost noon. Chief of Staff Xiao has already been waiting for you for nearly an hour.”

Zhou Yu stretched his limbs, then got up and began dressing.

After going downstairs, Zhou Yu saw Xiao Zhi sitting in a redwood chair.

“Old man, have you eaten? If not, why don’t you join me?” he asked.

Xiao Zhi smiled. “You go ahead. I’ve already eaten.”

Zhou Yu paid him no further attention and went to eat his own “breakfast.”

Zhou Yu looked at him. “I don’t know why you’re so curious, but is it really proper to pry into other people’s privacy so casually?”
