Chapter One Hundred and Sixteen
After finishing a glass of wine, Xiao Zhi looked at Xiao Beibei and asked, "What exactly are your thoughts on that kid, Haishan?"
Xiao Beibei replied, "I had a bit of a crush on him before, but I felt he was too dull. Now, I’m not so sure anymore."
Xiao Zhi asked, "So you decided to use your own father as a test subject?"
Xiao Beibei stuck out her tongue playfully and said, "Dad, look at you—how could you misunderstand your own daughter like that? Don't you want your daughter to have someone to protect her in the future?"
Xiao Zhi scoffed, "Nonsense. Does your father look like he needs that?"
Xiao Beibei smiled and said, "Eat your meal, just eat. Hehe."
Xiao Zhi asked again, "By the way, what if that boy doesn't manage to beat me?"
Xiao Beibei answered, "I don't know. I just wanted to see if he cares about me at all."
Xiao Zhi fell silent. He sat quietly in his chair, closing his eyes to rest, while privately wondering what kind of method Zhou Yu could possibly have to allow a kid like Liu Haishan to surpass him in the span of just one meal.
...
After Liu Haishan and Leng Yuhang stepped outside and reached the training field, Leng Yuhang said, "Run two laps. Let me see your speed and technique."
Liu Haishan didn't say much and immediately began maneuvering through the obstacles on the field. Before he had even finished two laps, he heard Leng Yuhang shout, "Stop."
Liu Haishan slowed to a halt, looking at Leng Yuhang with a puzzled expression.
Leng Yuhang said, "Your training seems too formulaic. Stand aside and watch how I do it."
With that, Leng Yuhang began to weave through the obstacles. He leaped, vaulted using momentum, and occasionally threw in some flips. Every time he encountered an obstacle that required jumping or climbing, he would suddenly accelerate.
After running two laps, Leng Yuhang asked, "Did you see where the problem lies?"
Liu Haishan frowned and asked, "Why do you accelerate every time instead of slowing down to give yourself enough time to react?"
Leng Yuhang chuckled. "Slowing down would indeed give you more reaction time, but that’s only for beginners."
Liu Haishan pressed on, "But you shouldn't be accelerating, either."
Leng Yuhang replied, "No movement is set in stone. Everything should be a response from your instincts. You must turn everything you’ve learned into instinct; otherwise, it remains dead, rigid knowledge. That will only cause you to stagnate once you reach a certain level."
Liu Haishan pondered for a moment, then looked at Leng Yuhang and said, "Let me try again."
Leng Yuhang raised an eyebrow, remained silent, and gestured with his right hand for him to begin.
Seeing the gesture, Liu Haishan started running immediately. For the first few laps, his movements were still somewhat disjointed. Leng Yuhang called out, "Forget what you’ve learned. Let everything come from your heart."
Hearing this, Liu Haishan paused for a beat, then resumed running.
The more Leng Yuhang watched, the wider his smile grew. He thought to himself, *He really has a solid foundation; he’s picking up how to utilize his physical capabilities so quickly.*
Suddenly, a voice sounded in Leng Yuhang’s ear.
"His physical coordination is decent, but it’s a bit late. His conditioned reflexes are still lacking just a little."
Leng Yuhang glanced back at Liu Long, who had spoken, and said, "Don't set your standards too high. He has the foundation; let him hone it slowly."
Liu Long didn't answer but instead shouted, "Stop for now. You can continue practicing later."
