Chapter Fifty-Seven: United in Battle
"Kill!"
Zang Wusheng’s deep roar shattered the eight directions. With a sweep of his hand across the sky, a surge of gloomy deathly energy erupted, causing decay in the vast wilderness. The force field rampaged, devouring all light. Suddenly, a singularity appeared, swallowing brilliance and releasing endless darkness, as terrifying ghostly wails echoed throughout heaven and earth.
Luo Longyu’s heart trembled. Relying on the powerful perception of his Blood-Eye Corpse Wheel, he could clearly sense the molecular arrangement of the surrounding space being disordered and reorganized, the balance of yin and yang thrown into chaos. One must know, the existence of the world depends entirely on the equilibrium of yin and yang; the mutual generation and restraint of all things, the alternation of day and night, all operate according to this balance. Yet now, Zang Wusheng’s methods were driving the force field in this place infinitely toward extreme yin. Molecular structures were being neutralized and dissipated, and the new energy released from the neutralization of yin and yang was being used to reconstruct the region. In this domain, Zang Wusheng was omnipotent!
“This is... the Burial Clan’s Domain Burial Technique!” Dragon Young Immortal’s gaze grew grave as he watched the energy in the void rapidly perish and be reborn.
Meanwhile, Hitomi the Fifth and Baili the Soul Chaser were hastily trying to break the seal. However, the seal was too ancient and had been repaired by Zang Wusheng; its inscriptions were complex and ever-changing. The two struggled to arrange the marks correctly, making their progress frustratingly slow.
Zuo Baixing, becoming anxious, turned and shouted at Froyer, “Hey! This is your Western sealing technique. You should be familiar with the patterns and energy sequences. Come help!”
Froyer nodded and quickly stepped forward. He examined the enormous pentagram carved into the stone gate, its surface etched with countless ancient patterns, intertwined to form a myriad of talismanic marks. Closer inspection revealed there were over a million. To swiftly identify the few correct marks among them was no simple task.
“This is the Triple Holy Seal, representing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The pentagram itself symbolizes both Jesus and God. Among the Church’s arts, this is a formidable sealing technique. How could a being from another world possibly understand how to repair this?” Froyer stared at the seal, then glanced at Zang Wusheng, bewildered.
Zuo Baixing, impatient, snapped, “Enough talk! Can you break the seal or not?”
“I can’t. To break the Triple Holy Seal, you need divine guidance from the Holy Light; otherwise, it’s impossible. This seal isn’t meant for imprisonment, but rather for salvation. At best, I can manifest the demon within and let us communicate with it,” replied Froyer quickly.
Baili the Soul Chaser frowned in confusion. “God saving Satan...”
“Boom!”
As they spoke, less than a hundred meters away, the ground exploded—Luo Longyu had been hurled out of Zang Wusheng’s domain, crashing violently into the earth.
Leaping from the crater, Luo Longyu glanced at Froyer and the others, his eyes wild and murderous—a manifestation of the Corpse Path’s fury. With a look, he urged them to hurry before soaring into the sky once more.
“No time, hurry!” Baili the Soul Chaser urged.
Looking up, they saw Zang Wusheng’s domain enveloping the sky, the yin-yang sequence within hundreds of meters utterly disordered and restructured. Even Luo Longyu’s Sky-Cleaving Nine Slashes were swallowed whole, leaving not a trace—an impregnable fortress.
“There’s no other way. Mengxuan, get ready and wait for my command.” With that, Dragon Young Immortal released his spiritual sense, searching for Luo Longyu.
At this moment, Luo Longyu faced Zang Wusheng, whose expanding domain threatened to trap him completely. In this darkness, he could see nothing—every shred of light was gone. Moreover, he could feel a powerful force field corroding his being, as if to erase him from existence.
Just as Luo Longyu wracked his brain for a solution, the Corpse Wheel system signaled—someone wished to connect through its communication channel.
Luo Longyu was taken aback. Modern technology couldn’t interface with the Corpse Wheel; who could it be? After a brief hesitation, he allowed the connection.
In his mind, Dragon Young Immortal’s consciousness materialized, speaking bluntly: “Luo Longyu, this is the Burial Clan’s Domain. Entering here is like stepping into a grave crafted for you by their own hands. Here, they are the kings—ordinary means won’t break through. You must wield the power of your Corpse Path, restructure the particle sequences here, and restore the natural order.”
“Huh? How?”
Dragon Young Immortal, no longer impatient, answered quickly: “The Corpse Path is the most powerful combat machine ever created. Even without weapons, it possesses formidable computational and controlling abilities. You already have a yin-yang force field within you, perfectly fused. The Burial Domain uses a powerful yin field to neutralize and devour the yang field. You don’t need to overpower his yin with your yang; just use an equal force of yang to consume his yin, shatter the extreme yin field, and everything will return to normal.”
“But... but I don’t know how!” Luo Longyu grew anxious, the bloody glow in his eyes intensifying.
Dragon Young Immortal urged, “Stay calm—don’t lose control. Your Corpse Wheel is spinning rapidly and could go berserk. You must master your emotions and guide the power within you. Remember how you merged with the old man? He should have shown you how to control yourself and the Corpse Path. Do as he did. I’ll have Mengxuan use the Fusang System to compute the particle change trends in the surrounding space; you need only match that speed.”
“Alright, I’ll try. Calm, calm...” Luo Longyu acknowledged, forcing himself to calm down and recall how the old man had controlled the Corpse Path.
Below, Dragon Young Immortal’s consciousness returned to his body. He said to Luo Mengxuan, “Mengxuan, prepare the Fusang System to interface with the Corpse Path. Wait for Luo Longyu’s command.”
“What? Interface with the Corpse Path?” Luo Mengxuan jumped in surprise.
Dragon Young Immortal nodded solemnly. “That’s right. This is the first joint operation between the Corpse Path and Fusang. Zang Wusheng is too powerful, and his civilization is wholly unknown to us. We must use unconventional means.”
Luo Mengxuan shed her usual playful demeanor, taking several deep breaths as the immense pressure settled on her.
Seeing Mengxuan’s tension, Dragon Young Immortal smiled gently—a rare softness. She stroked Mengxuan’s hair as if she were an older sister, and said, “Don’t be nervous. Fusang’s immense energy can quickly replenish the Corpse Path’s consumption. Right now, Luo Longyu’s energy system isn’t fully developed; using the Corpse Path drains huge amounts of power. His own yin-yang cycling can’t sustain it, but your Fusang can help. This is your specialty. You can do it.”
Mengxuan looked at Dragon Young Immortal and nodded repeatedly, encouraging herself, “I can do it. I can do it.”
No longer distracted by the ever-more tangible Burial Domain, Luo Longyu focused inward on the Corpse Path within him. He recalled his time in Xiangxi, when the old man had trapped him in a stone coffin and, after emerging, the yin-yang core had formed inside him—one orb blazing like the sun, one cluster utterly black like a black hole: one was extreme yang, one extreme yin; yang for silicon, yin for flesh, perfectly fused, the Corpse Path thus completed.
“You’re the ones!” Luo Longyu swiftly awakened the yin-yang core, only to feel his energy instantly drained. His Corpse Wheel halted abruptly, and he fell from the sky in a sorry state, crashing to the ground—leaving Zang Wusheng momentarily stunned; after all, he hadn’t even attacked.
Watching the dust rise where Luo Longyu fell, Dragon Young Immortal and Luo Mengxuan exchanged glances. Luo Mengxuan shrugged, innocent. “Sister Long, don’t blame me. I was waiting for his command.”
“Perhaps... falling down was his command,” Dragon Young Immortal muttered, lips twitching.
Regaining her composure, Luo Mengxuan glanced up at the rising morning sun and shouted, “Little Phoenix! Guard me!”
As the Sky Phoenix spread its fiery wings, Luo Mengxuan formed nine great seals with her hands. The seals, shifting in sequence, imprinted themselves between the two Fusang trees—this was the command to activate the Fusang Energy System. The trees burst into flames, wild winds fanning the fire. Luo Mengxuan entered the Fusang system’s control space, sent a docking request to the Corpse Path, and prepared to interface.
Receiving the request, Luo Longyu immediately agreed. An invisible energy channel formed, and vast power surged from his Corpse Wheel into the yin-yang core. The core began to form specific orbits, moving together like binary stars in the cosmos, their gravitational paths intertwined. The Corpse Path, this war machine, began its first true, complete operation!
Luo Mengxuan’s eyes now blazed with fierce fire, her long hair transformed into living flames—like a goddess of fire descended, unstoppable.
Around Luo Longyu, two companion stars—one yin, one yang—manifested, revolving about him. With Luo Mengxuan’s immense energy supply, Luo Longyu had no more worries.
Zang Wusheng’s Burial Domain began to be neutralized; positive ions crashed into negative ions, restructuring the spatial particles and restoring order.
Zang Wusheng’s heart tightened as he looked toward Luo Mengxuan. He understood what was happening but had no time to deal with her—Luo Longyu alone was challenge enough, and besides, a powerful Sky Phoenix guarded her.
“Burial Void Seal!” Seeing his domain about to be fully neutralized, Zang Wusheng conjured a massive dark seal, pressing it down toward Luo Longyu.
Radiating immense might, Luo Longyu strode through the void, bellowing, “Divine King’s Celestial Point!”
The chaotic light of the yin-yang fusion shot across the sky, carrying the primordial energy of creation to shatter the mighty seal.
As Liezi wrote, “In the very beginning was the birth of qi; the first breath of heaven and earth can transform into yin and yang, and thus can also break yin and yang!”
