Chapter Twenty-Three: Wang Hui's Regret
The van carrying Wang Hui kept driving until it reached a place both Xiao Zi and Wang Hui knew all too well.
It was the same abandoned sports field as before.
There, five or six people had already gathered, with Liu Anran among them, grinning maliciously.
When the van finally came to a halt, the unconscious Wang Hui was thrown out onto the ground, followed by several others climbing out of the vehicle.
"Liu Anran, are you sure this is the poor guy you mentioned? He sure doesn't look it—he's decked out in designer brands," asked a man with a scar running across his face, eyeing Wang Hui's clothes suspiciously.
Liu Anran was momentarily taken aback by Wang Hui's appearance, but quickly regained his composure and replied indifferently, "His mother died in childbirth, and his father's been working as a laborer in Tianjing City, hardly ever coming home. How rich could he possibly be? Those clothes are definitely fake."
He spat on Wang Hui, disgust showing on his face. "I can't understand why someone as perfect as Si Liren would be interested in a guy like this." He sneered, his expression turning sinister. "Let's see if she really loves him. If he winds up crippled, will she still stick around?"
At that moment, a burly man beside him spoke. "So, do we do it now, or what?"
"Wouldn't it be too easy on him if we hit him while he's unconscious? Wake him up first! I want to do this myself. You all just have to clean up afterward. I want him to know exactly what happens when he crosses me!"
As soon as Liu Anran finished speaking, one of his men grabbed a prepared bucket of water and doused Wang Hui.
The shock of cold water snapped Wang Hui awake. Before he could react, several strong men pinned his arms and legs firmly to the ground.
He didn't struggle much; instead, he looked straight at Liu Anran. "Liu Anran?"
Liu Anran met Wang Hui's gaze, his smile twisting with malice. "I warned you, didn't I? Told you not to get so close to Si Liren, but you wouldn't listen!"
He pulled a knife from his jacket. "Tonight, I'm taking your legs off, slice by slice!"
But the terror Liu Anran expected to see never crossed Wang Hui's face. Instead, Wang Hui looked utterly unconcerned. "I told you, she's the one who keeps coming to me. If you don't have enough charm, how is that my problem?"
"Shut up!" Liu Anran snapped, stung to the core. "Tell me! Tell me what makes you better than me?"
"Oh, look at you, getting all worked up. If you're really better than me, why won't Si Liren leave me alone, and
