“How am I supposed to believe you?”

Xiao Zi did not answer her directly. Instead, he planted a demonic seed inside her body.

The demonic seed could enhance a creature’s strength, but that was only part of its function.

Medusa hesitated.

After a long silence, she finally spoke.

“What do you want to ask?”

“When you came to this world, where in this village did you arrive?”

“There’s no way I can tell you that!”

“Oh? Are you sure? I’m not asking how you came to this world, nor am I asking how to reach your world. I’m only asking where you arrived.

“You should understand that I have no interest whatsoever in your world. I’m asking about this only for other reasons.

“And all you have to do is answer my question to become incredibly powerful—powerful enough to defeat even me and rule this world. Are you certain you don’t want to?”

Medusa barely listened to Xiao Zi’s words. His clumsy lie was so transparent that she found it almost laughable.

But there was one thing she cared about deeply: he could make her stronger.

In her previous world, she had been the strongest being of all, and she understood the importance of power. Whoever possessed strength possessed the right to speak.

She also knew that the reason her strength had been unable to grow for so long in her own world was that she had reached the limits imposed by it. This world, however, seemed to have no such restrictions.

That was why there were so many beings stronger than her here.

And what could he possibly do there?

With his strength, he could probably do whatever he pleased in this world.

At that thought, she narrowed her eyes.

After weighing the matter carefully, she decided to tell Xiao Zi.

On the one hand, she was desperate to become stronger. On the other, she knew that the weak had no right to negotiate with the strong.

The old woman beside them was utterly stunned. Clutching Yunshan’s thoroughly dead body, she stared at Xiao Zi and Medusa in terror.

“What exactly are you?”

But the moment the words left her mouth, Medusa turned her gaze toward her.

Their eyes met, and the old woman instantly became a stone statue.

Wang Hui shuddered.

This woman was far more dangerous than she appeared.

Medusa then led Wang Hui and Xiao Zi to the place where she had first arrived in this world.

It was the same dark, deep cavern.

When they reached the exact location, Medusa looked at Xiao Zi.

“You can keep your promise now, can’t you?”

Xiao Zi closed his eyes. Using the spatial laws attached to his teleportation ability, he searched the area—and sure enough, he detected an enormous alternate dimension.

Sensing the incredibly abundant life force within it, he slowly turned his head.

The next instant, without the slightest hesitation, he drew his Scythe of Death. Activating Blood Rage and Soul Wind Blade, he struck Medusa with tremendous force.

Medusa seemed to have anticipated this. A split second before Xiao Zi attacked, she swiftly retreated.

But Xiao Zi appeared to have anticipated her anticipation. His blow landed precisely where she was trying to dodge.

After the scythe collided with her flesh, Medusa was nearly cut in half.

She poured every ounce of energy she possessed into preserving her life, her eyes filled with unwillingness.

“You bastard—”

Before she could finish her curse, Xiao Zi delivered another swift strike, giving her no chance whatsoever.

“You really thought I would nurture a potential enemy? Do you go through life without using your brain?”

After mocking her, he looked down at Medusa’s corpse with utter contempt.

If even an idiot like this could grow into an A-rank existence in this so-called otherworld, then how many even more terrifying beings must exist in that world?

As for S rank, he would not worry about that yet. If he remained cautious, he could still fight an S-rank being. At worst, he could escape.

The real question was whether beings above S rank existed, as the legends claimed.

And if they did, what would he do then?

Xiao Zi shook his head and decided not to think about it.

He had heard that uncanny creatures ascending to S rank would have their bodies reforged. He wondered whether he would receive the same treatment.

He was getting distracted.

He grabbed Wang Hui by the arm.

“Well? Are you ready?”

“For what?” Wang Hui asked, still completely bewildered.

But the next instant, the two of them plunged together into a sea of darkness.
