"This whole thing dates back about a month ago. To put it bluntly, our village is an isolated dead-end abandoned by the authorities. Most of the young people have gone out to work in the cities, and those who stayed behind are either people with elderly family members to take care of or those who couldn't make it out there. Life hasn't been great, but we managed to get by.

"Yet on that day, a month ago, someone claimed they saw a very strange woman. Anyway, that person was scared out of his wits. At the time, we didn't pay much attention to it, figuring he had a nightmare or just hallucinated. But the very next day, he vanished. We thought he had gone into town on some business. Although it felt a little off, we didn't think too much of it—until that night.

"Everything was normal that night until we heard someone scream. We all knew that voice very well; it belonged to the man who had disappeared a few days prior. We were terrified. The young men in the village rushed over to the source of the sound, only to find a bare, empty cave and nothing else. Those young fellows searched all night and found nothing. They planned to report it to the police the next day, but when morning came, they realized several more people were missing.

"With no other choice left, we had to call the police. But the moment the police heard about a strange-looking woman, for some reason, they were scared completely out of their minds. Forget about investigating; they ran faster than anyone. Later on, some people in the village realized the gravity of the situation and left one by one using various excuses. And that's how this village ended up the way it is now."

As the old woman was speaking, a strange figure walked straight in. Wang Hui had sensed the presence long ago, so the moment the figure stepped through the threshold, he looked over. Seeing the person wrapped up tightly from head to toe, Wang Hui couldn't help asking, "Who are you? Big brother or big sister?"

"Yunshan, what brings you here?" The old woman clearly recognized the man. Well, it was a tiny village, so it wasn't surprising that everyone knew each other.

Wang Hui's focus, however, was quite different. He stared at the old woman in shock, asking, "Granny, how on earth can you recognize someone just by looking at their eyes?"

The old woman simply waved her hand casually. "Hmph, who else do you think would dress themselves up like this ghost?"

Wang Hui nodded. "That makes a lot of sense."

At that moment, the man called Yunshan spoke up again, "Why are you inquiring about the village's business? What is your background anyway?"

Hearing the question, Wang Hui gave a faint smile. "Would you believe me if I said I'm just curious?"

"If it's just out of curiosity, get out of here immediately! You are not welcome!"

Faced with the prompt eviction notice, Wang Hui instantly became displeased. "My legs are attached to my body. Are you telling me to leave just because you say so?"

Before he could even finish his sentence, a heavy blow struck the back of his head. He spun around to see the old woman holding a farm tool, staring at him in sheer disbelief.

Wang Hui's eyes widened. "Why did you hit me?"

He was certain that if he were an ordinary human, that attack would have knocked him out cold. He hadn't expected this elderly woman to play so dirty and resort to a sneak attack.

He was shocked, but the old woman was even more shocked. Although she was old, years of working in the fields had given her considerable physical strength. It might not have been enough to kill someone instantly, but striking a vulnerable spot like the back of the head should have at least rendered someone unconscious, right? Why did this fellow in front of her look completely unaffected?

"Yunshan! Kill him, quickly!" The old woman dropped her amiable demeanor and shouted at Yunshan.

The moment her voice fell, a powerful aura—indistinguishable from that of a Rank-B Spirit Controller—erupted from Yunshan. He glared at Wang Hui and said, "You are merely an ordinary mortal who has no idea how terrifying this world truly is. Now I'm going to show you what absolute suppression means!"

With that, he transformed into a streak of green light and charged straight at Wang Hui.

Wang Hui slowly raised one hand high and then casually let it fall. That single strike landed precisely on Yunshan, who had already reached him.

The punch looked soft and powerless, yet it contained the might of a deity. Upon taking the blow, Yunshan collapsed straight to the ground, his entire body convulsing violently. His body was sustained entirely by Medusa's petrification power; in other words, he was essentially half-stone. Wang Hui's punch had undoubtedly shattered all the stony parts within him. This caused his body to rapidly disintegrate, his life force and energy leaking away endlessly as death loomed over him.

Looking at Wang Hui now, Yunshan no longer had any thoughts of interrogation left in his eyes, only profound shock. "Who... who on earth are you?"

Wang Hui merely waved dismissively. "Just a frog at the bottom of a well."

"Hmph! So what if you defeated me? Do you know the existence behind me? It is a power so immense you cannot even imagine!"

Before he could finish, Xiao Zi's voice rang out, "Are you talking about this one?"

As the words faded, a woman's body came flying down from high above, covered entirely in blood.

Suspended in mid-air, a massive, blood-red figure smiled down at them, remaining silent with a gentle grin.

Yunshan could no longer speak. Half of it was because he wanted some quiet before dying, and the other half was out of sheer embarrassment. The reason was simple: the woman Xiao Zi had tossed down was none other than Medusa, the very being he worshipped as a god.

Medusa herself was dumbfounded. Remembering everything that had just happened, she still hadn't recovered her wits. She had been continuously gathering external information through her perception when she suddenly felt something amiss nearby. Turning her head, she saw a red vengeful spirit staring at her for quite some time. The moment she tried to retaliate, however, she was instantly beaten to the ground and dragged here without a word.

The vast gulf in power between them filled her with boundless despair. She knew the only reason her captor hadn't killed her yet was likely curiosity about the energy she possessed. She had already resolved that even if beaten to death, she would never reveal anything about her own world.

Yet Xiao Zi's next words left her completely stunned: "What on earth did you come to this world for?"

Hearing this, Medusa was utterly shaken. Why? Why would this powerful vengeful spirit know she came from another world? And he seemed so utterly certain of it. Could it be that he knew about her realm? That made no sense. Based on what she understood of this world, such vengeful spirits were typically referred to as ghostly anomalies that fed on human fear. Logically, they shouldn't know anything about other worlds.

While Medusa was still lost in thought, Xiao Zi continued, "I'm just curious, how exactly did you make it into our world?"

Medusa forced a smile. "You can kill me, but you won't extract a single word from my mouth."

"Oh? What if I told you I can make you even more powerful?"
