"Wang Hui, let me tell you, if it weren't for me, you would be nothing more than a pathetic frog at the bottom of a well! You were destined to be prey for supernatural entities for the rest of your life. It was I who showed you the true face of this world! I allowed you to live without ignorance, and I tell you, you should be grateful to me!"

Yuan Zhikong’s voice was deafening, sounding grating and harsh to Wang Hui’s ears.

"Are you out of your damn mind?"

"You dare to curse me?" Yuan Zhikong pointed at himself, his face full of disbelief. "Who do you think you are? You are just an ordinary person, a mere mortal! And I? I am a Ghost Controller! Do you have any idea how vast the gap is between us?"

Yuan Zhikong roared, closing in on Wang Hui step by step, clutching the wrench in his hand.

"Get the hell away from me!"

Wang Hui shouted as he retreated, but Yuan Zhikong was incredibly fast. Despite blood dripping from him with every step, he managed to grab Wang Hui by the collar.

"I... I'll kill you right now! I'll make you pay for looking down on me!"

He raised the wrench, ready to strike. Wang Hui silently began to channel the energy within his body. He had made up his mind: the moment that wrench touched him, even if he couldn't escape this place, he would kill his assailant, even if it meant exposing his true identity.

But just as Wang Hui’s gaze sharpened and the wrench drew closer, a surge of energy rippled from nearby.

Not far away, that massive human face had appeared, its expression clearly one of great discomfort—or rather, intense agony. Below the face, countless eyeballs were emitting golden light, and standing beside them was the masked Ghost Controller. The mask had been removed, but his face was no longer covered in eyes; instead, it was a ruin of bloody pits. It was evident that he had gouged out his own eyes. All around, the corpses of other Ghost Controllers lay strewn in disarray.

These Great Xia Ghost Controllers had actually drained the vital essence of their own life force to fuel the masked Controller, who in turn channeled it into that massive, strange face. These eyeballs seemed to function as energy regulators, controlling the flow of power for the entity.

Wang Hui was still marveling at the ruthlessness of these Ghost Controllers when he felt a sudden push.

"Wang Hui, you are our last chance!"

As Wang Hui stumbled, a tiny opening appeared before him. He did not doubt for a second that beyond this rift lay freedom.

"I'm finally going to be free!"

But before he could scramble into the hole, a grim, black mask appeared within it.

"Human, where do you think you are going?"

With that, an explosion of energy erupted, sending an unprepared Wang Hui flying backward. The air fell instantly silent. The masked Ghost Controller finally reached his limit, his body collapsing into a limp heap. The massive-faced entity he had restrained soared into the air without hesitation, looking down upon the scene.

Only then did Wang Hui clearly see the supernatural masterminds: the giant face, the monster in the black mask, and a giant beetle crawling on the ground. Without exception, all three were A-grade entities.

Facing such opponents, Wang Hui chose silence. He remembered what Xiao Zi had once taught him: "Never fight head-on if you can ambush them."

The monster in the black mask, clearly the leader, walked straight toward the now-defenseless masked Ghost Controller. But a figure blocked his path—it was Yuan Zhikong. He was barely recognizable, his body a mass of mangled flesh, yet his eyes still burned with a fierce light.

"Beyond this point... no god or demon shall pass..."

Before he could finish, a ruthless, iron-like hand gripped his throat. "You... you have no right to speak to me. Get lost."

He was tossed aside toward Wang Hui. Under the immense impact, Yuan Zhikong’s body was deformed, and he likely had more broken bones than he had ever had relationships. Yet, he struggled to crawl back in that direction, shouting, "Beyond this point, no god or demon shall..."

He never finished the sentence. An invisible force of energy slammed him against the wall, rendering him completely incapacitated.

"The weak have no right to be heroic." The masked monster sneered coldly before turning back toward the dying Ghost Controller. "I have heard of you—one of Great Xia’s A-grade supernovae. I wonder, if you die here, will Great Xia lose face? Hahaha!"

The masked Ghost Controller, collapsed on the ground, remained silent; breathing alone seemed to take every ounce of his strength. The masked monster grabbed him by the throat and lifted him up. "Speak! Will Great Xia lose face?"

At this, the masked Ghost Controller finally opened one eye, stared at the monster, and spoke slowly: "Though I am but a common man of Great Xia, when the nation faces disaster and monsters run rampant, I stand before the millions without retreat. Death is a small price to pay. Great Xia will take pride in my sacrifice. How can you speak of losing face?"

His words enraged the masked monster, who flung him toward Wang Hui. Wang Hui looked at the fallen Ghost Controller, utterly stunned. He finally understood why Great Xia had stood firm for ten thousand years of human history, remaining at the center of the world without fear. If a civilization was filled with people like these Ghost Controllers, how terrifying would that be?

They faced desperate situations countless times, yet never gave up. Even at the brink of death, they remained fearless in the face of such threats. What an astonishing spirit. Even though these people were his enemies, he felt a strange sense of excitement.

With that thought, he stepped in front of the masked Ghost Controller and bowed his head in silence. The Ghost Controller’s vital signs were fading rapidly. He whispered, "If I had known you were Wang Hui, I would have killed you sooner, wouldn't I? The Supreme Grudge."

Hearing this, Wang Hui smiled. So, the man had overheard Yuan Zhikong calling him Wang Hui and assumed he was his superior. That was fine; he would play the role of Xiao Zi for a moment.

Yuan Zhikong, lying to the side, was dumbfounded. His classmate was actually the Supreme Grudge? He had spent all that time treating him like an ordinary person and bragging in front of him?

Wang Hui paid him no mind. He calmly turned around, gave the masked Ghost Controller a final nod of acknowledgment, and then looked at the masked monster. He spoke, word for agonizing word: "You are not worthy to kill him."

"Oh, and by the way, you might not have heard my classmate clearly. Let me repeat it for you: Beyond this point, no god or demon shall pass!"

As the words fell, two distinct, violent auras erupted simultaneously. The surrounding space seemed ready to collapse under the pressure of these two energies. Even the dying Yuan Zhikong, caught in the wake of this power, died instantly.

Wang Hui’s clothes fluttered without a breeze. One of his pupils turned deep blue, while the other became a piercing golden yellow. It was as if one eye held the vast ocean, and the other carried the desolation of a desert.

Glancing at the three supernatural entities, he said calmly, "It’s not too late to let me leave now."
