Chapter 130: Collective Straying into the Forbidden Zone
The group spent nearly an entire day trapped in the restaurant. During this time, they were provided with food and drink when hungry or thirsty, though their freedom was severely restricted.
"Yuan Zhikong, when are you all going to make a move? I can't take this anymore," Wang Hui complained.
There was absolutely nothing to do here. Yuan Zhikong and the other five ghost-bound warriors could at least pass the time by communicating with the supernatural entities within them, attempting to increase their power and compatibility.
But what about him? As the human representative of a deity, he theoretically had two ways to grow stronger: fulfilling the divine oracles issued by his god, or synchronizing his own energy with that of the deity. However, there was a fatal issue: his god had never issued a single oracle, and he had no clue how to synchronize their energies. Even if he did, he wouldn't dare attempt it in this place.
After waiting for a day, the Great Xia ghost-bound team finally received word. The captain answered a phone call with a mysterious air: "Hello?"
A moment later, he exclaimed, "What? Are you joking? Fine, I understand."
He hung up, looking at the others with shock.
"Captain, what's the situation?"
"According to intelligence from our undercover agents, that laboratory was attacked by another organization of supernatural beings. They even seized the 'Tomb of Ancient Supernatural Beings' and took it away."
"What!" The other ghost-bound warriors were clearly stunned, but they quickly regained their composure. "Are there any new orders?"
"The organization wants us to collect evidence before the Sakura Nation can destroy it, so we can impose sanctions on them in the name of the state!"
After saying this, the captain straightened his clothes. "In that case, let's head out immediately. Any delay could lead to unforeseen accidents."
Wang Hui had heard every word of their conversation, and his mind immediately turned to Xiao Zi. Could it be possible that the supernatural organization that attacked the lab was actually just Xiao Zi alone? He shook his head immediately afterward; Xiao Zi’s reputation as a "Supreme Evil Spirit" was so widespread that if it were her, she would have certainly been identified. Forget it, he thought; stop overthinking it. Once these guys leave, he would just make a run for it.
Just as the ghost-bound warriors were about to depart, the captain turned back. "Take him with us. Since those supernatural beings have already begun to move, this place might no longer be safe."
Hearing this, Yuan Zhikong grabbed Wang Hui. "Great! With the captain and the others protecting you, you won't be able to die even if you want to!"
This was as unpleasant a remark as it could be, but Wang Hui couldn't reveal his true thoughts. He waved his hands hurriedly. "No, no, I can protect myself."
"Protect yourself from what? With your pathetic strength, any low-level supernatural creature could finish you off. Isn't it safer to stay with us?"
Before Wang Hui could argue, the captain grabbed him by the collar. "Enough. We’re just collecting evidence; how long could it take? You would have been done by now if you hadn't been stalling. Don't be shy."
Apparently, Wang Hui's reluctance was being interpreted as modesty. This time, the captain didn't give him any chance to refuse, pulling him into a void of darkness.
Within the darkness, Wang Hui could feel his body constantly wrapped in a flow of energy. It was remarkably gentle and seemed to be propelling him forward at high speed. He finally understood how these ghost-bound warriors traveled: one of them must be a specialized type, possessing a skill similar to Xiao Zi’s spirit shadow, capable of shifting them into another dimension to remain undetected.
However, the drawback was clear: in this space, one was completely unable to perceive the outside world. Wang Hui watched as the six warriors wandered around disoriented for a long time before finally finding their destination.
Upon arriving at the laboratory, everyone was struck with horror. The experimental equipment scattered about was truly chilling. Even these professionally trained warriors felt a surge of fear they could barely suppress.
"Grab a live subject."
Their method of collecting evidence was so simple it left Wang Hui speechless: they were just taking photos and capturing a live test subject to take back.
"With this evidence, even if the Sakura Nation denies it, we can take firm measures against them."
Just as they were finishing up and preparing to leave, a person wearing a mask with only their eyes visible suddenly shuddered.
"Bad! It's an ambush!"
The moment the words left their lips, everything around them changed in an instant. Countless purple, ghostly butterflies materialized in the air, scattering a sinister powder downward. A vast expanse of the surrounding space seemed to be blanketed by it.
The captain tried to pull everyone back into the other dimension to escape, but let out a painful wail: "Do not attempt to adjust your energy!"
Everyone’s nerves were stretched to the breaking point, Wang Hui included.
Visibility was extremely low, and since he didn't dare use his own energy, he could only see the masked warrior standing in front of him. Based on his observations, this warrior held a high status in the team but rarely spoke, usually just standing there in a cold, aloof silence. He knew that in television dramas, such characters were always the strongest, so he hurried over and asked, "What is the situation now?"
The warrior gave him a look of utter disdain before slowly speaking, "This is a Forbidden Domain. We are all finished!"
"A Forbidden Domain?" Wang Hui’s eyes widened. He certainly knew what that was, but having spent so much time around Xiao Zi, he had rarely seen anyone capable of releasing one. It was a testament to the power of the entity they were facing.
"So what do we do now?"
"Why is a useless waste like you asking so many questions?"
Wang Hui: "..."
He realized the man’s bad temper was simply his way of suppressing inner fear; when people are afraid, other emotions instinctively follow.
If anyone was the calmest in the group, it was Yuan Zhikong, who was still blathering nonsense. "Captain, hurry up and drag this supernatural creature out and kill it. Let me see how powerful you all are."
Clearly, he was vastly overestimating the team's strength. They were merely trying to stall for time, waiting for Great Xia to realize they were missing and send a rescue party. The fact that the entity hadn't attacked yet suggested two possibilities: either its strength was on par with theirs and it didn't dare act rashly, or it was wary of the deterrence posed by Great Xia.
No matter which it was, there was still hope for survival. However, having lived long enough around Xiao Zi to understand the nature of supernatural beings, Wang Hui poured cold water on their optimism.
"Do you think this entity might just be keeping us trapped here to find ways to torture us?"
As soon as he said this, although he couldn't see the others, he felt several cold, piercing gazes directed at him.
