Chapter Ninety-One: Provoking the Demon Dragon
“Demon Dragon, I believe every word you say. An assassin ranked among the top hundred on the world’s hit list has that kind of ability.”
Chu Feng was not flattering Demon Dragon at all. He truly believed what he said, because he himself had that kind of ability.
“Since you’ve already lost your leverage, why seek your own death? Why not sit down and have a proper talk for once, maybe even discuss our life goals?”
As he spoke, Chu Feng actually sat down on the ground and lit a cigarette. He even tossed the rest of his cigarettes toward Demon Dragon not far away. His behavior left Ma Han beside him staring in disbelief.
“If you want me to surrender, you can forget it. In my dictionary, there are only two things: killing, or being killed.”
Demon Dragon did not pick up the cigarettes himself. He motioned for one of his companions beside him to do it instead. After the companion brought them over, Demon Dragon pulled one out, lit it, and took a fierce drag.
“Fine then, let’s go with my earlier suggestion. You and I fight one round. If you win, I let you go. If you lose, you come with me. Surely a notorious assassin ranked among the top hundred doesn’t lack even this much courage.”
Chu Feng was goading Demon Dragon on purpose, provoking him into fighting. So long as the irritated Demon Dragon agreed to his terms, Chu Feng would have a way to take him down.
“I’m a coward, all right? I definitely won’t agree to your terms. You can give up on that idea. You want to take me alive? Do you really think that’s possible?”
Demon Dragon was an old hand at this. He naturally understood Chu Feng’s intention, so he did not fall for the provocation at all.
“Fine. Then let’s drag this out and see who lasts longer. We can eat whatever we want, and I’d like to see who’s going to bring you any food. We’ll just wait until you’re starved senseless.”
Seeing that Demon Dragon was completely impervious to reason, Chu Feng did not waste any more words on him. He simply waved his hand and ordered the armed police and special police behind him to withdraw.
“Brother, go get me some food from the hotel downstairs, and bring me a bottle of liquor while you’re at it. I don’t want leftovers; have them make it fresh. Get me a roast chicken too, and some rice.”
Chu Feng asked the last armed police officer in line to help him fetch food from the restaurant downstairs, specifically requesting a roast chicken.
The officer hurried off at once to get the food. After all that running around, none of them had eaten either.
Before long, the officer brought back two roast chickens and even a bottle of liquor Chu Feng had never seen before.
“This chicken is for you to split among yourselves. We’ll take this one.” Chu Feng handed one roast chicken to the officer and told him to share it with the others, while he and Ma Han would have the other.
“So fragrant. What did they make this roast chicken with? How can it smell this good? And the liquor too—let’s eat first.”
Chu Feng ate as he praised it, saying the roast chicken was wonderfully fragrant. There were also several side dishes beside them, and Ma Han, too, kept eating and talking.
Meanwhile, not far away, Demon Dragon watched Chu Feng and the others sitting there feasting and drinking, and the fire in his heart only burned hotter. This was blatant disrespect.
“Demon Dragon, we’ve been staring each other down for so long. Aren’t you hungry? Even if you aren’t, your companion beside you must be. Come on, have something.”
Chu Feng wrapped half a chicken leg in a piece of paper and flicked it straight at Demon Dragon. The move startled Demon Dragon, and he did not dare catch it.
The chicken leg dropped at Demon Dragon’s feet. From so close, he could even smell its tempting aroma, and his stomach disgracefully rumbled a few times.
The companion beside him said nothing from beginning to end. He simply watched Chu Feng with a calm expression, as if he could understand every move Chu Feng made.
“Eat it. I’ve already thrown you the chicken leg. Why aren’t you eating? I’ve eaten mine, so there’s no poison on it.”
Seeing Demon Dragon’s hesitation, Chu Feng nearly laughed. This fellow was far too cautious. He never trusted anyone, trusting only himself.
Chu Feng stopped talking to Demon Dragon and concentrated on eating roast chicken and drinking liquor, looking thoroughly at ease. He did not look like someone there to arrest assassins at all, but rather like a man on holiday.
The armed police and special police behind him also began to relax. They showed no sign of facing a deadly enemy. One by one, they sat there eating roast chicken. There was not much, but it tasted excellent.
Before long, Chu Feng and Ma Han had finished off an entire roast chicken, and Chu Feng alone had drained a whole bottle of liquor.
“Go on, bring me two more roast chickens. This time, no liquor—bring me some soft drinks instead.” After finishing that chicken, Chu Feng still did not feel full, so he sent the special police off again to get more.
Standing opposite Chu Feng, Demon Dragon seemed to have suffered a great humiliation. Chu Feng was no longer willing to speak with him, and he also refused to agree to his demands. If they kept this up for another day at most, Demon Dragon and his companion would slowly starve into a faint.
“Chu Feng, you’ve gone too far. Do you really think I wouldn’t dare detonate the bomb and take you down with me? I’ll blow it right now.”
Demon Dragon pulled a remote-control-like device from his pocket. There was a red button on it.
“Wait a minute. Who insulted you? I told you to eat and you wouldn’t. If you won’t eat, are you going to stop me from eating too? You’re the one acting cheap—why are you blaming me?”
Seeing Demon Dragon’s ready-to-die-together posture, Chu Feng hurried to stop him. The reason he had done all this was to provoke Demon Dragon into a one-on-one fight.
But he had not expected that he had pushed too hard this time. The fellow actually seemed truly ready to drag him down with him.
Behind Demon Dragon, Xiao Hei and Wang Chen also saw him pull out that remote. Xiao Hei even borrowed a high-powered telescope from Wang Chen and examined it carefully.
“Chu Feng, the remote in Demon Dragon’s hand should be real. I can look for a chance to shoot it out of his hand. You seize the opening and try to capture him alive.”
After watching for a while, Xiao Hei told Chu Feng everything he had concluded. If they shot the remote out of Demon Dragon’s hand, then as long as Demon Dragon’s heart was still beating, the bomb would not explode.
Chu Feng did not reply to Xiao Hei. Instead, he made a gesture with both hands at his waist, and Xiao Hei saw it clearly through the telescope.
“You have to report the exact wind speed, air density, and distance to me. Not a single detail can be off. If it is, the captain and Chu Feng could be caught in the blast.”
Xiao Hei immediately handed the telescope back to Wang Chen and told him to observe carefully so that no mistake would be made.
“Demon Dragon, this half a roast chicken is for you. There’s nothing I can do about it; there’s only one and a half left.”
Chu Feng tossed the half chicken over, but Demon Dragon still did not catch it. The roast chicken fell right beside his feet.
