Mr. Li? Could it be him? Chu Feng pondered this, then spoke to his sister, “Yan’er, I have something to take care of downstairs. Later, I’ll have Aunt Zhang bring your dinner up.”

Chu Yan’er smiled sweetly, “Brother, you’re always busy. Go on with your work~”

Two minutes later, Chu Feng descended the stairs, just as the visitor arrived. It was indeed him.

“Doctor Chu, I apologize for dropping in unannounced. I hope I’m not disturbing you,” he said with a smile.

Chu Feng replied calmly, “Mr. Li, if you have something to say, please get straight to the point. No need for formalities.”

“Here’s the matter: a prominent figure wishes to meet you and sent me to ask for your consent,” he said.

“A prominent figure?” Chu Feng raised an eyebrow.

He nodded.

Across the entire city of Shanghai, he was already considered an important figure; anyone who could send him as a messenger must have a remarkable status.

After pondering for a few seconds, Chu Feng nodded decisively.

“Of course. I’ll go with you,” Chu Feng shrugged, neither agreeing nor refusing outright.

Hearing this, the visitor finally relaxed.

“Thank you, Doctor Chu, for agreeing. When shall we depart? Do you have other matters to attend to?” Though he asked, he seemed rather eager.

Chu Feng replied, “Since someone capable of commanding Mr. Li is waiting, I shouldn’t keep them any longer.”

Following Mr. Li’s car, Chu Feng spent half an hour before finally stopping at a teahouse named Clear Breeze Pavilion.

“Doctor Chu, this is the place,” Mr. Li personally opened the door for Chu Feng.

This Clear Breeze Pavilion was not a place just anyone could enter for a cup of tea.

Under Mr. Li’s guidance, they ascended to the second floor. Not a single guest could be seen, likely due to the presence of the distinguished guest.

“Doctor Chu, the person is inside. I haven’t been permitted to enter, so I’ll wait out here,” Mr. Li explained with a smile.

He was indeed curious as to why this prominent figure had suddenly visited and specifically requested to see Chu Feng.

Chu Feng gently knocked at the door. A deep voice answered from within.

“Come in!”

Upon entering the private room, Chu Feng found himself facing a middle-aged man of about forty.

He wore a plain gray tunic, his attire simple, yet his presence was formidable.

From the first moment Chu Feng saw him, he sensed something unusual.

“Doctor Chu, please have a seat. I apologize for sending Director Li to trouble you,” the middle-aged man continued, “You may call me Old Wang, or Mr. Wang.”

Chu Feng replied calmly, “Mr. Wang, since you went to the trouble of bringing me here, I suppose it’s not just for pleasantries?”

“To be frank, I’ve heard you possess remarkable medical skills, capable of restoring life to the dying. I hope to ask you to save someone—a veteran who once fought for our country and earned great merit on the battlefield,” Mr. Wang said straightforwardly.

Chu Feng asked, “Did Director Li recommend me to you?”

“Indeed, he gave his word. But the reason I asked for your help isn’t just because of his recommendation,” Mr. Wang answered.

Chu Feng thought, since Mr. Li had previous contact with Mr. Wang, then the earlier incident must already be known to him.

“Mr. Wang, I assume you’re aware that, after saving Director Li’s daughter, I nearly landed myself in trouble. If I agree to your request and end up causing even bigger problems for myself, what then?” Chu Feng narrowed his eyes.

Mr. Wang smiled knowingly, recognizing the cautious thoughts in Chu Feng’s mind. He continued, “I know that incident put you in a difficult position. I’ve already ordered an investigation, and I understand that nothing comes free. If you agree, I promise to grant you one request. Is that acceptable?”

Chu Feng nodded with great satisfaction, stating bluntly, “I need a license to kill!”

The room fell silent.

Time seemed to halt; the air grew thick and unmoving.

Mr. Wang narrowed his eyes, sizing up Chu Feng, his invisible aura unsettling Chu Feng further.

Yet Chu Feng did not flinch, maintaining eye contact.

After a long pause, Mr. Wang suddenly smiled.

“If that’s what you want, I agree. Congratulations, Doctor Chu, you’re now joining Dragon Scale,” Mr. Wang said with a smile.

Chu Feng was stunned. He had made the request as a test, never expecting Mr. Wang to agree so readily.

But… what connection was there between Dragon Scale and a license to kill?

He wanted such a license simply to make it easier to harvest lives and accumulate longevity.

“Mr. Wang, what exactly is Dragon Scale? I never said I wanted to join,” Chu Feng shrugged.

Mr. Wang tossed a dossier onto the table. “In our country, only Dragon Scale is authorized to kill legally. Everyone in the organization possesses extraordinary abilities. I value you because I believe your potential is limitless.”

“What is this?” Chu Feng asked indifferently, opening the dossier. The next moment, he was stunned.

The first page of the dossier listed: “Chu Feng, male, 23 years old. Parents died in a car accident. Lives with his sister Chu Yan’er. Attending physician at Jimin Hospital. Known as the killer doctor, his medical skills are beyond comprehension.”

The rest of the dossier detailed every case Chu Feng handled at Jimin Hospital, down to how many cotton swabs he used. The time of each patient’s death was recorded to the second.

Within a short minute, Chu Feng broke out in a cold sweat.

Mr. Wang observed Chu Feng’s changing expression, chuckling, “Doctor Chu, don’t take offense. Since you’ll be tasked with saving that decorated veteran, we investigated your background thoroughly. These documents also serve to clear your name—the patients who died were all criminals the police failed to apprehend.”

“I understand, Mr. Wang. But if you want me to join Dragon Scale, I have one condition,” Chu Feng proposed.

Mr. Wang raised an eyebrow, “Go ahead, what is it?”

“I don’t want trivial matters wasting my time. I’ll undertake only two missions a year,” Chu Feng stated.

After careful consideration, Mr. Wang’s face broke into a smile. “Doctor Chu, I accept all your conditions. However, the veteran in Yanjing is critically ill and may die at any moment. I hope…”

“Give me an hour, Old Wang. I need to take care of some personal matters, then I’ll go with you to Yanjing,” Chu Feng replied immediately.

After reaching an agreement, Chu Feng left the private room.

Mr. Li had been waiting in the corridor all along. He hurried forward, asking, “Doctor Chu, how did the talks go?”

“I need to handle some private affairs. We’ll set out for Yanjing in two hours.”

“Excellent! I’ll arrange someone to take you!” Mr. Li was overjoyed.

He had worried all along that Chu Feng might refuse. If Chu Feng saved the veteran in Yanjing, Mr. Li would be credited for his recommendation.

Mr. Wang stood by the window, watching as Chu Feng got into the car. Smiling, he dialed a number.

“Doctor Chu has agreed to go to Yanjing. Activate S-level protection and escort him to the destination.”

“Understood, Chief!”

After hanging up, Old Wang lingered by the window for a long time.

He mused silently, “Perhaps the arrival of this young man will allow Dragon Scale to truly awaken…”
