Chapter 27: Someone Causes Trouble
When Li Zeming and his wife saw Chu Feng leaving, they wanted to call out to him, but Liu Shuiqing stopped them. Liu Shuiqing knew well what kind of person Chu Feng was.
"Secretary Li, Chu Feng is on the second floor of our hospital, taking care of an elderly gentleman. If you wish to thank him, I can take you there, but for now, it's best if you stay here. Your son's surgery is still ongoing."
Liu Shuiqing didn't want the Li couple to disturb Chu Feng, as the fact that Elder Chen was staying in the hospital was a top secret that outsiders couldn’t know.
Chu Feng took the elevator down from the sixth floor to the second and went to Elder Chen's ward. The reason he was staying here was to observe the old man's condition. Once Elder Chen stabilized, Chu Feng could leave.
"Doctor, please save us!" Suddenly, more than a dozen people burst into the lobby at the entrance of the Air Force Hospital's emergency building, shouting loudly.
The doctor on duty came out and saw eight injured men, each bleeding profusely, with wounds so deep on two of them that even bone was visible.
"Get them into the operating room, prepare for emergency treatment!" the doctor immediately shouted to the nurses, having the eight injured men carried into the emergency room, while others were sent to find more doctors to help.
"Ergou, stay here and watch over them. I’ll go gather some money. We must make sure the doctors save our brothers' lives," a burly, tattooed man with a shaved head told his companion before running off in a hurry.
"Chu Feng, Elder Chen just woke up and asked me to find you," said Old Jin as Chu Feng entered the ward.
Upon hearing that Elder Chen was awake, Chu Feng rushed over to his bedside to check his pulse. The old man's body was terribly frail.
"Elder Chen, do you feel any discomfort anywhere? If so, let me know and I can massage you," Chu Feng said after checking his pulse.
"No, just a lack of strength. Otherwise, I feel alright," Elder Chen answered weakly, his voice barely more than a whisper.
"Then please rest more. Don't look at any documents or test results over the next few days. Wait until you’ve recovered," Chu Feng told him, tucking him in before stepping outside.
Old Jin and Old Wang had been waiting outside the ward this whole time. These two were Elder Chen's most trusted aides.
"Old Jin, no matter what Elder Chen says over the next few days, do not give him any documents. Also, you must strictly monitor his diet. He needs to eat more protein-rich foods to help his recovery," Chu Feng instructed Old Jin, emphasizing the importance of these points, especially not to let Elder Chen see any documents.
"Don't worry. No matter what Elder Chen says this time, I won’t let him see any documents until he’s recovered," Old Jin promised, clearly resolute in his decision to disobey the old man’s wishes for once.
As Chu Feng, Old Jin, and Old Wang were talking, a quarrel suddenly broke out on the second floor, followed by shrieks.
"I’ll go check it out. You two stay here with Elder Chen," Chu Feng said before heading to the elevator.
At the elevator, two soldiers on duty had raised their guns at several people inside, who, never having seen such a scene, were so terrified they raised their hands in surrender.
"What’s going on? Who’s making all this noise?" Chu Feng asked the two soldiers as he approached.
"These people were arguing loudly in the elevator. We don’t know who pressed the button to bring them to the second floor," one of the soldiers answered, confused by the sudden commotion.
Chu Feng glanced inside the elevator and saw four burly men, all in tank tops and shorts, heavily tattooed—clearly the sort who looked like troublemakers.
There was also a young nurse in the elevator, whom Chu Feng recognized as Xiao Han, the one who had taken Elder Chen’s temperature and blood pressure that morning.
"Tell me what happened. Why were you arguing in the elevator?" Chu Feng called Xiao Han and the men out, refusing to let them stay inside.
"Who the hell are you? This has nothing to do with you! Don’t act tough, just get lost!" one of the burly men cursed, jabbing a finger at Chu Feng’s nose.
Without hesitation, Chu Feng kicked the man, sending him flying into the wall, where he collapsed unconscious.
The remaining three men, stunned by the sight, froze in place, not daring to move. The man who’d been kicked weighed at least 150 pounds, yet this young man had sent him flying with a single effortless kick.
"Tell me what happened," Chu Feng said to Xiao Han, gesturing for her to explain.
"They brought several injured men to the hospital just now. Two are in critical condition, so we issued critical care notices. Then these men accused us of not treating them properly, started shouting, and tried to drag me away," Xiao Han explained, her voice trembling. She’d been working as a nurse at the Air Force Hospital since graduating and had never witnessed such chaos. The men, emboldened by her looks, had chased her persistently.
"Have you no shame? Four grown men chasing after a young woman! If your friends can't be saved, that's their fate. Don’t blame the hospital staff, and this girl isn’t even a doctor," Chu Feng scolded the three remaining men. If not for wanting to maintain his composure in front of the nurse, he would have put them all down by now.
"Our brothers' injuries weren't that serious. The doctors just refused to help because we didn’t pay them enough," one of the men shouted at Chu Feng.
"If someone comes in with cancer, how do you expect us to treat them—can cancer even be cured just like that? Are you an idiot?" Chu Feng retorted, sending the man flying with another kick.
The last two lunged at Chu Feng, but he didn’t even flinch—he dispatched both with a kick each.
"Come on, I'll take you downstairs to have a look," Chu Feng said, taking Xiao Han’s hand and leading her into the elevator.
Feeling Chu Feng’s hand in hers, Xiao Han blushed deeply, her mind whirling with wild thoughts.
Oh my god, he’s actually holding my hand! Does this mean he likes me? Should I reject him? After all, we’ve only known each other for a day.
