Chapter Twenty-Three: Old Chen Has Fainted
“Chu Feng, don’t make things difficult for Dr. Sun. I’ll just cooperate with their examination; they’re only following orders from the military.”
Old Mr. Chen didn’t want to put Chu Feng in a tough spot. Dr. Sun’s stern attitude was because he’d received strict instructions from the military to take special care of Mr. Chen, who had long been involved in cutting-edge weapons research.
“Mr. Chen, if you undergo another round of tests and expose yourself to more radiation, it will definitely hinder your recovery.” Chu Feng explained the risks to Mr. Chen in detail.
“Dr. Sun, I’m not questioning your medical skills, but Mr. Chen’s health simply can’t withstand extensive examinations right now. Even if those machines only emit minimal radiation, Mr. Chen is elderly—his body can’t take it.”
“What’s more, if you insist on sending him for tests right now, he might faint within two hours.”
Chu Feng knew exactly what condition Mr. Chen was in, which was why he dared to say this. Above all, he didn’t want Mr. Chen to be tossed around any further.
“You think I’ll believe you? Let me be clear: I am responsible for Mr. Chen’s wellbeing. If anything happens to him, no one can bear the consequence. It would also be a major loss to the nation,” Dr. Sun retorted, utterly unconvinced by Chu Feng’s words. The more Chu Feng argued, the more suspicious Dr. Sun became, even doubting whether Chu Feng was truly a doctor.
“Mr. Chen, are you all right? Someone get a doctor! Mr. Chen has fainted again!”
It was Old Wang at the back who suddenly noticed Mr. Chen had lost consciousness and called Dr. Sun to prepare the emergency room.
Chu Feng rushed to Mr. Chen’s side and felt his pulse. After a moment, he determined that Mr. Chen had fainted from agitation and anxiety.
“Old Wang, quickly fetch a set of silver needles—sterilized, and hurry! Any later and Mr. Chen will be beyond saving,” Chu Feng instructed, making it clear that the needles had to be disinfected.
Old Wang dashed out to find the needles. Lao Jin and Chu Feng moved Mr. Chen onto the hospital bed, and Chu Feng discreetly placed his watch at Mr. Chen’s waist.
The hands on the dial spun wildly, circling five times before stopping. The number on the dial changed from 180 to 175. Chu Feng drew on the lifespan stored in the watch to stabilize Mr. Chen’s vital signs.
“Prepare for emergency resuscitation! Call every doctor in the hospital to examine Mr. Chen!” Dr. Sun was startled by Old Wang’s outcry, only now reacting and sending orders to
