“What? Xiaoyue is ill?” Old Li exclaimed in shock.

Chu Feng stood up and shook his head, then opened the door to the hospital room.

As soon as the door opened, Li Yuewu rushed in and deliberately stomped on Chu Feng’s foot. Luckily, he reacted quickly and dodged aside, paying no further attention to the spoiled and willful girl.

“Grandpa! What’s wrong with you?” Li Yuewu looked at Old Li, who sat on the hospital bed as if petrified, and confirmed again, “Grandpa! Did that guy do something to you? Can you hear me? I’m going to settle this with him!”

Old Li finally snapped out of it and grabbed Li Yuewu’s hand, saying, “Dr. Chu said your illness is severe. Go apologize to him quickly. If he can detect your hidden ailment, he surely has a way to treat it!”

“I just had a comprehensive check-up two days ago, and nothing was wrong. Grandpa, don’t listen to that guy’s nonsense,” Li Yuewu replied, puzzled.

It must be Chu Feng’s trick again!

Furious, Li Yuewu said, “Did Chu Feng give you some kind of mind-altering drug? Or maybe he’s skilled in sorcery? You just believe whatever he says?”

Old Li spoke earnestly and patiently, “Xiaoyue, your grandfather has some ability to judge people. Young Chu is spirited, but he would never joke about such things. He’s the most remarkable doctor I’ve ever met, a young man of great talent!”

Hearing her grandfather’s words, Li Yuewu grew even more agitated.

“Grandpa, my medical report is still in my bag. Are you really going to believe an outsider’s words over mine?” Her anger nearly brought her to tears.

Old Li immediately put on a stern face, “What do you mean, outsider? If not for Dr. Chu, I wouldn’t be alive! Go apologize to him!”

Though the Li family doted excessively on Li Yuewu, when Old Li lost his temper, his expression was anything but pleasant.

“I… I’ll go, all right? Grandpa, don’t get upset, it’s bad for your health.” Li Yuewu pouted and stood up, obediently heading toward the door.

Watching his granddaughter’s reluctant demeanor, Old Li sighed and shook his head. “Our family has truly encountered a benefactor. Xiaoyue, I’m only doing this for your own good. Young Dr. Chu is no ordinary man, and his words shouldn’t be ignored…”

After leaving the ward, Li Yuewu wandered the corridor several times, unable to vent her anger. After asking around, she finally located Chu Feng’s office.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

She kicked the office door three times in succession, each kick so forceful her toes throbbed with pain.

“Chu Feng! Open the door, I know you’re in there!”

“What did you say to my grandfather? You despicable scoundrel, come at me if you have a problem!”

Her nearly hysterical shouting soon attracted a crowd of onlookers. Yet the hospital nurses and doctors had little sympathy for Chu Feng’s predicament, most simply enjoying the spectacle.

At that moment, Chu Feng opened the door with a click.

Li Yuewu’s hand, which was about to slam the door, instead landed squarely on Chu Feng’s face—caught swiftly by him.

Chu Feng looked half-awake, rubbing his sleepy eyes. “What’s all the noise? Didn’t you see I was resting? If lack of sleep causes my next surgery to fail, will you take responsibility for the patient’s safety?”

The colleagues watching couldn’t help but jeer; after all, it was working hours, and they’d never heard such an elaborate excuse for slacking off.

Li Yuewu glared at Chu Feng, thoroughly annoyed, as if she might devour him.

“I must find out what you’re up to today. I don’t want everyone treating me like a circus act. Let me in!” she demanded, slipping into the office. Chu Feng shrugged and closed the door with a flick of his heel.

“My office isn’t suited for entertaining guests, Miss Li. Let’s keep it brief—I need to get back to my rest,” Chu Feng said, yawning lazily.

Facing this flippant man, Li Yuewu found herself at a loss for anger; he showed none of the decorum expected of a doctor.

“What did you say to my grandfather? How dare you deceive him? Now he’s convinced I’m sick, but if you ask me, you’re the one who’s ill!” Li Yuewu clenched her fists, trembling with fury. “My grandfather’s health is already fragile, and your words only make him worry more. You did this on purpose, didn’t you?”

Chu Feng leaned back in his chair, eyes narrowed, and asked, “Are you done? If so, you can leave now. I won’t see you out.”

“Chu Feng! I warn you not to push me too far! Believe it or not, one call to my father and you’ll be out of Jimin Hospital in no time!” Li Yuewu threatened, losing all composure.

Chu Feng snapped his fingers, “Miss Li, if you can actually do that, I’d thank you. I’m looking for someone who can kick me out of this hospital.”

Just then, the office door was knocked again.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Each knock was forceful, clearly from someone hostile.

“Chu Feng! You bastard, come out! Pay with your life—you killed my boss, and today I’ll cut you to pieces!”

“Our boss died because of you, you quack! Come out, and I’ll finish you!”

Instead of feeling nervous, Li Yuewu smiled smugly.

“Karma catches up with the wicked. See, your retribution has arrived.” She continued, “Are you scared now? If you apologize to me and clear things up with my grandfather, perhaps I could help you deal with these thugs—it’s just a phone call for me.”

Chu Feng was unfazed by the commotion outside.

He smiled at Li Yuewu, “Miss Li, you really underestimate me. If I couldn’t handle these small fry, I’d have been minced by these troublemakers long ago.”

With that, Chu Feng casually opened the office door.

The narrow corridor was now packed with tattooed, gold-chained thugs.

The hospital security, sensing trouble, had long since vanished.

These men were notorious local ruffians, and their leader had died on Chu Feng’s operating table just an hour ago.

To avoid responsibility, the hospital had pinned the blame squarely on Chu Feng, the surgeon.

Thus, seeing Chu Feng, the ruffians looked at him as their mortal enemy.

“Damn! You’re Chu Feng? Today I’ll kill you as a sacrifice for our boss!” the bald leader, brimming with hostility, yelled.

Another thug chimed in, “Our boss was only stabbed three times—how did he just die for no reason?”

“Today we must get justice!”

A dozen burly men shouted, brandishing the weapons they’d brought.

Chu Feng cleaned his ear, surveyed them coldly, and laughed, “I’m not targeting anyone in particular, but your boss was nothing but scum, and you lot aren’t even fit to be called trash. To have survived this long, your miserable lives are truly charmed…”

If these desperadoes were a barrel of gunpowder, Chu Feng’s words were the spark.

“Damn! Still mouthing off? I’ll cut your tongue out!”

“Kill him! Let him join our boss in death!”

With a chorus of threats, they advanced on Chu Feng.

But before they could act, a disturbance arose at the end of the corridor.

“Police are here!” a thug warned.

Seven or eight officers arrived, dispersing the innocent bystanders.

The leader, a police officer with black-rimmed glasses, pushed through the crowd and sternly ordered, “Drop your weapons! Stop the commotion—if you leave now, we’ll let it go.”

The police arrival did nothing to cool the thugs’ rage.

“Even if the king of heaven comes today, we’ll still cut this quack to pieces!”

“If we don’t avenge our boss, we’d be letting him down!”

Their threats continued, prompting the police officer to reach for his radio, ready to call for backup.

If these men really went berserk, the situation would spiral out of control.

At that moment, Li Yuewu suddenly appeared beside the officer.

“Isn’t this little doctor supposed to be so capable? Let’s see how he handles this. Officer Ma, you all should protect yourselves—let them fight it out, then just clean up afterward,” she suggested, arms folded.

The officer immediately recognized the Li family heiress—her father held the highest position in the city, and her face was well known.

“Miss Li, normally we’d take your advice, but this is serious. The threatened party is Dr. Chu, and if we don’t intervene, things could get out of hand,” the officer replied, clearly troubled.

He had to maintain order, but couldn’t risk offending the city leader’s daughter.

There were other reasons for his hesitation as well.

Suddenly, the crowd erupted in chaos.

The thugs who had been shouting were suddenly hurled from the crowd one by one!

Li Yuewu was dumbstruck. Chu Feng, who appeared unimposing, seemed likely to suffer—but once he started, he was transformed!

His movements were swift and powerful, every gesture forceful, each blow landing solidly.

The dozen thugs didn’t last thirty seconds before lying sprawled across the corridor!

“This…” Li Yuewu rubbed her eyes, thinking she was hallucinating.

Only now did she realize that the officer’s warning about things getting out of hand referred to this very scene.

Facing the fearful looks of the thugs and the astonished gazes of hospital staff, Chu Feng was utterly indifferent. He glanced at his wristwatch—the number had dropped from 42 to 41 since treating Old Li.

These little pests had cost him a year’s lifespan to unleash his potential.

The bald thug who’d been the loudest crawled to the officer, sobbing, “Officer, you saw it yourself—this guy assaulted us and tried to kill us! He has no respect for the law!”

The officer pushed up his glasses, sneering, “Today I’ve learned what it means for the villain to report first. You all know who started it, so let’s sort it out at the station?”

“No, no! We didn’t mean that—it’s really nothing serious,” the bald thug hastily scrambled up. A beating was bad enough, but jail was worse.

“Get out!” the officer waved his baton, and the thugs scurried away.

Then, smiling, the officer turned to Chu Feng, “Dr. Chu, are you satisfied with this resolution?”

“Fine, fine. Just tell your wife to come see me this afternoon,” Chu Feng replied, eyes narrowed.
