Chapter 150: The Slaughter Begins
Just save your breath. As long as I am here, you are not going to die. Chu Feng first assessed Mahan's injuries, then placed his wristwatch against Mahan's waist. The dial's hands began to spin frantically.
After spinning wildly for a full two hundred revolutions, the hands finally stopped, pulling Mahan back from the brink of death. However, due to severe blood loss, his body remained extremely weak.
Once Mahan's vital signs stabilized, Chu Feng turned to treat another team member. He was not faring well either, though his injury was less severe; a bullet had pierced his leg.
This might hurt a bit. Bear with it. With a flick of his left hand, a scalpel appeared in his grip, and Chu Feng immediately began operating on Leopard's leg to extract the embedded bullet.
Hmph! The initial wave of pain wrung a muffled groan from Leopard. Fearing he might cry out, he quickly jammed a wooden stick between his teeth.
Five minutes later, Chu Feng successfully extracted the bullet from Leopard's leg, closed the wound, and bandaged it securely.
I am taking command now. Wang Chen and Tiger, you two carry the captain and Leopard and fall back immediately. Someone will meet you at the border. Little Black and I will stay behind to hold off the enemy.
Assessing the situation, Chu Feng realized that their only remaining combat capability lay with Tiger, Little Black, Wang Chen, and himself. Leopard was injured and had to look after Mahan, so he was excluded from the fighting force.
Chu Feng reasoned that pressing the fight further would only draw more drug traffickers, and the mercenaries from the Scorching Sun group would soon encircle them. The only viable option was for someone to remain as bait while the rest retreated.
No, I will stay. You guys get back. Even if I make it back, I might not survive anyway. Mahan disagreed with Chu Feng, completely unaware that his life was no longer in immediate danger.
Captain, I am sorry. Chu Feng stepped up to Mahan and delivered a sharp chop with the edge of his hand to the back of his neck, knocking him unconscious.
Fall back now. I left markers on the trees all the way here. Just follow the trail and you won't run into the enemy. Chu Feng instructed them to leave all their firearms behind.
Chu Feng, Little Black, you two must hold on. Once I get the captain to the border, I'm coming back for you.
Without hesitation, Wang Chen and Tiger hoisted Mahan and Leopard and began their retreat.
Little Black, I have a mission for you. Stay here to act as bait while I flank around to their rear for silent elimination. Remember, your safety comes first.
Chu Feng had already formulated a countermeasure: Little Black would pin the enemy down from the front while Chu Feng circled around behind the drug traffickers and Scorching Sun mercenaries.
Chu Feng's proficiency with hidden weapons was even greater than his marksmanship. Once he reached the enemy's rear, he would become the Grim Reaper himself.
Understood. You be careful too. Take these two grenades, you might need them. Little Black handed the last two grenades he had over to Chu Feng.
Chu Feng took the grenades, clipped them to his belt, and began sprinting toward the flank. He intended to return to his previous sniper position and use it as a pivot to circle wide around the enemy.
Once Chu Feng departed, Little Black fired a burst from his assault rifle, then used his machine gun to take down a drug trafficker who had foolishly exposed his head.
Having witnessed the devastating coordination between Little Black and Wang Chen earlier, which had claimed the lives of numerous comrades who dared to show themselves, the remaining enemies kept their heads down, terrified of the sniper's crosshairs.
The Scorching Sun mercenaries and drug traffickers dared not move, buying precious time for Chu Feng as he continued his wide flanking maneuver.
Before long, Chu Feng slipped behind one of the Scorching Sun assassins. This operative had been lurking in the shadows, desperately trying to pinpoint Little Black's sniper nest, but to no avail.
Swish! Chu Feng hurled the scalpel from his hand, striking the sniper squarely in the back of the head. The man didn't even have time to emit a groan before meeting his maker.
Retrieving his weapon, Chu Feng continued circling deeper behind enemy lines. This position was still a bit too far forward; he needed to press further back.
Two minutes later, seeing that Little Black had ceased firing, a few bold individuals stuck their heads out, only for one of them to be instantly headshot.
Throw some grenades! Receiving word from Jack, Miao Lang ordered his subordinates to hurl a few grenades first to break the deadlock.
Simultaneously, Chu Feng reached their rear. He scrambled up a thick tree, using the dense foliage as cover, and prepared to thin their ranks with his firearm before closing in.
Little Black kept his scope trained on the enemy opposite him. Spotting a foe reaching for a grenade at his waist, Little Black locked his crosshairs onto the man, ready to squeeze the trigger the moment any part of his body emerged.
Bang! A muffled crack and a sharp report rang out simultaneously. Two bullets struck their targets with pinpoint accuracy, causing the grenades in the men's hands to slip from their grasp.
Two seconds later, Chu Feng heard two deafening explosions. By sheer coincidence, he had killed a soldier just as he was about to toss a grenade, causing the unthrown explosive to detonate among his own comrades.
Even Miao Lang was caught in the blast radius. He could not fathom how the Chinese special forces' marksmanship could be so terrifyingly precise, striking down his man the exact fraction of a second he attempted to throw a grenade.
Chu Feng fired seven shots in rapid succession, claiming a life with every single pull of the trigger. Only when his magazine was completely empty did he slide silently down from the tree.
By this time, Miao Lang sensed something was terribly wrong. With his men and the drug traffickers all sheltering behind trees, how could a sniper still hit them? Someone must have flanked their rear.
Realizing this, Miao Lang turned to order a squad to check the rear, only to find the soldier standing directly behind him with a blade buried deep in his skull.
An instant later, Miao Lang saw a scalpel hurtling straight toward him. The blade grew larger and larger in his field of vision until it embedded itself squarely in his forehead.
Once on the ground, Chu Feng plunged into a ruthless massacre. Anyone targeted by him barely lasted three seconds, each meeting their end with a scalpel planted firmly in their skull.
Gradually, a force of over a hundred men dwindled to barely forty. Aside from those picked off by Little Black, the rest were systematically executed by Chu Feng's scalpels.
This hundred-strong force had never anticipated an enemy striking from behind; many of them died with a surgical blade buried in the back of their heads.
By the time they reacted and tried to swing their weapons around, they found that Chu Feng had vanished without a trace.
Every time Chu Feng killed a man, he immediately melted back into the shadows. Anyone who dared enter his field of vision was greeted with a fatal scalpel.
