With a swift motion, Chu Feng lunged forward the moment Zhou Danian finished speaking, kicking Zhou Yu right next to his father.

"You show up as a father and, without asking a single question, demand I let him go. Why don't you ask me why I beat him in the first place?"

Seeing Chu Feng’s unwavering confidence, Zhou Danian began to harbor doubts. He knew his son all too well; the boy relied on his father’s power to run rampant in the area. If it weren't for his own connections, his son would have been killed long ago.

"Come here," Zhou Danian commanded. "Tell me exactly what happened from start to finish. If you dare to embellish a single detail, I won't spare you."

He glanced at his son, who was still wailing on the ground, and urged his son’s girlfriend to recount the events. The girl walked over and explained everything in detail. Realizing she was also in the wrong, she did not add any fabrications. After finishing, she even bowed to the elderly man whom Zhou Yu had struck earlier.

"Kneel and kowtow! If you dare refuse, I will disown you right now," Zhou Danian shouted, kicking his son in the backside after hearing the girl’s account.

"Dad, I’m your own flesh and blood! Why should I apologize to this old geezer? What did I do wrong?"

Zhou Yu remained stubborn, unaware that refusing to apologize would only incite public fury—especially with a man like Chu Feng present, who was more than ready to strike again.

"Since your son refuses to listen to you, I’ll take over the execution for you. Get him to kneel and apologize to that gentleman."

Chu Feng strode over, hoisted Zhou Yu up with one hand, and dragged him to the elderly man.

"Kneel!" Chu Feng roared, kicking Zhou Yu behind the knees. As the boy collapsed, Chu Feng pressed his head down, forcing him to kowtow three times. By the end, Zhou Yu’s forehead was bleeding, and his head was spinning, leaving him completely disoriented.

"I’m in a good mood today, so I won’t say much more. But if I ever see him act like this again, I’ll send him straight to reincarnation. People like him are a waste of life."

Chu Feng turned and left, with Ziyan following behind. He didn’t bother to look at Zhou Danian’s expression; for a man like that, a stern warning was necessary. Watching Chu Feng walk away, a thoughtful look crossed Zhou Danian’s eyes. Chu Feng had mentioned Secretary Li Zeming earlier—could they be acquainted, or was Chu Feng part of the inner circle?

As Chu Feng departed, the crowd dispersed like birds and beasts. There was nothing left to watch, as Zhou Yu had already been beaten and forced to apologize.

Upon returning to the second floor, Chu Feng noticed an increased number of guards, many of whom were new faces. They didn't stop him, as if they already recognized him. When he entered Elder Chen’s ward, he found his unit commander, Long Feihu, there.

"Commander, what brings you here?" Chu Feng asked, worried that something might have happened.

"I’m just checking in. I’m one of Elder Chen’s students, after all. Besides, the Dragon Scale unit was founded specifically to protect Elder Chen and his research."

Long Feihu looked at Chu Feng with undisguised admiration. He knew everything Chu Feng had done at the hospital; even in his absence, he received constant reports.

"Chu Feng, there is another reason I’m here, and I need your agreement," Elder Chen said once Chu Feng had sat down.

"Go ahead, let’s hear it. If it’s something troubling the Commander, I’m curious," Chu Feng replied. Long Feihu was usually extremely busy; the fact that he had personally come to the hospital meant it was no small matter.

"I need you to undergo two days of training at the base: pistols, assault rifles, sniper rifles, and climbing." Long Feihu had come to take Chu Feng back to the Dragon Scale base for fundamental drills. "I know your skill with hidden weapons is masterful, but don't forget, this is the age of firearms. Since you’ve joined Dragon Scale, I am responsible for your life."

Seeing Chu Feng about to object, Long Feihu cut him off. His reasoning was sound; in this era, his words were impossible to refute.

"Fine. I’ll go to the base with you tomorrow for two days of training," Chu Feng agreed. He had no choice; since Long Feihu had come in person, he clearly meant business.

After Chu Feng agreed, Long Feihu chatted with Elder Chen for a while before leaving. His mission was accomplished.

"Chu Feng, don't hold any resentment. He’s doing this for your own good," Elder Chen said after Long Feihu left. "You were recruited through special channels, and some people will inevitably gossip. You need to use your strength to shut them up."

Chu Feng nodded, understanding the Elder's point. The next morning, after performing a massage for Elder Chen, Chu Feng drove to the Dragon Scale base.

Once there, Long Feihu introduced him to two men. The first was Xiao Hei, who would teach him sniper tactics, and the second was a man Chu Feng hadn't met before, tasked with teaching him pistols and automatic rifles, including the AK series.

Chu Feng proved to be a genius. After Xiao Hei taught him the basics, he was quickly able to handle the sniper rifle with proficiency. Even Xiao Hei, a top-tier sniper trained in elite tactics, was shocked by Chu Feng’s speed of comprehension.

Chu Feng spent the entire day on sniper training. By nightfall, his head was buzzing from the lack of a suppressor on the rifles. The following morning, a man codenamed Shark took over, and Chu Feng plunged into another intense day of training.

"Girl, you’re so distracted today. Are you missing your boyfriend?" Elder Chen asked, noticing that Han Xuefang was listless.

"Elder Chen, did Chu Feng go on some kind of mission? I can't reach him on his phone," Han Xuefang said. She had initially thought he was avoiding her, but the Elder had assured her he was simply away on business.
