Chapter 116: Encirclement and Pursuit

The traffic officer knocked on the driver’s-side window. It took a full minute before the window finally opened.

“Parking is not allowed here. You need to leave immediately.” Seeing that the driver was a foreigner, the officer repeated himself in English.

“Could we wait for one minute? My friend went inside to buy something. He’s already on his way back.”

The foreigner could speak a few words of Chinese, though rather stiffly.

“All right. I’ll wait here for one minute. If he hasn’t come out by then, you’ll have to leave. Otherwise, I’ll issue you a citation.”

The traffic officers on duty in China were generally quite humane. Besides, this was a foreigner, so the officer decided to give him one minute of grace.

Meanwhile, Chu Feng was waiting at the stairwell on the seventh floor, waiting for the two men to come up.

A minute passed quickly, yet the officer saw no one approaching the black van.

“Your time is up. Leave immediately, or I’ll write you a ticket. If you still refuse to go, I’ll have your vehicle towed.”

The officer checked the time, then went over to explain the situation to the van’s driver once again.

The foreign driver was visibly annoyed at being urged again, but this was China, and he did not dare make too much trouble. He simply rolled up the window and drove away.

As soon as the vehicle left, Wang Chen informed Chu Feng. Chu Feng was somewhat surprised. Could it be that the van had not been sent to pick up Jack and the others?

Just as Chu Feng was wondering about this, the two people who had been waiting on the sixth floor began walking upward. The moment they moved, Chu Feng received the report.

“Everyone, stay alert and keep a close watch on the situation outside.” Chu Feng spoke into his earpiece, then stood there waiting for the two people below to come up.

The instant he saw them, Chu Feng was certain that they were slaves. Their eyes held no emotion whatsoever, and their expressions were rigid and lifeless.

“Activate the signal jammer. The entire hospital must be jammed.” Chu Feng spoke into his earpiece. He was now certain that Jack was nearby, remotely controlling the two slaves.

After more than ten seconds, a burst of static crackled through Chu Feng’s earpiece, indicating that the signal jammer had been activated.

The two slaves below Chu Feng slowly collapsed to the ground. Seeing this, Chu Feng’s brows drew tightly together.

He did not know why Jack had sent these two slaves over. Was it merely to gather information? If so, that was an extravagant waste.

As Chu Feng was pondering Jack’s intentions, a figure suddenly appeared beside him, drenched in blood.

“Chu Feng, hurry and save your girlfriend! She’s been kidnapped by that madman Jack!”

The blood-covered figure was Zi Yan. She appeared to have suffered severe injuries, serious enough to threaten her life.

“Don’t speak yet.” Chu Feng helped Zi Yan to the side and eased her down onto the floor. Then he placed his wristwatch against her waist.

The hands on the watch began spinning wildly. They completed forty full revolutions before finally stopping. Color returned to Zi Yan’s pale face, and her body was no longer in danger, though she remained somewhat weak.

“Tell me where Jack is. How did he kidnap Xiaofang?”

Chu Feng was frantic. He had never imagined that, despite all his precautions, he would still have overlooked something.

“It happened at the place where we first met. After he injured me, he drove east with your girlfriend.”

Zi Yan explained everything to Chu Feng in detail and also gave him the license plate number of the vehicle Jack had taken.

After Han Xuefang ran out of the hospital in tears, she made her way home, sobbing all the while. When she reached a traffic light, she stopped to wait for it to change. Jack and his men, who had been hiding nearby, seized the opportunity and dragged her directly into their vehicle.

Zi Yan, who had been following behind Han Xuefang, saw what happened and tried to rescue her. But compared with Jack, her skills were far inferior. After only a few exchanges, Jack had beaten her so badly that she was gravely wounded.

If there had not been so many people nearby, and if someone had not called the police, Jack would not have let Zi Yan off that day.

“You stay here for now.”

After saying this, Chu Feng went straight to the control room, where Wang Chen had been broadcasting the jamming signal.

“Disable the signal jammer at once. Everyone, come with me.”

Once the jamming ended, Chu Feng immediately called Li Zeming and asked him to notify the traffic authorities to search for a white SUV. He also gave Li Zeming its license plate number.

Chu Feng was frantic with worry. Jack was a veteran mercenary, the kind of man capable of anything. All Chu Feng could do now was pray that he would not hurt Han Xuefang.

Seven or eight minutes later, Li Zeming called back and reported that the vehicle had entered the expressway and was heading toward the Xiangnan region. The traffic authorities had already dispatched officers to intercept it at the toll stations.

Upon receiving the news, Chu Feng immediately called Long Feihu and asked him to send a helicopter. He intended to pursue Jack and the others by air.

“Go directly to the military district. I’ve already spoken with Old Gao. He’ll provide you with an armed helicopter. But you must remain calm. You are absolutely not to open fire on the expressway.”

Long Feihu repeatedly warned Chu Feng not to use the helicopter’s weapons and to negotiate with Jack first.

Chu Feng drove with Ma Han and the others, racing all the way to the military district. As soon as they entered, someone directed them toward the military airfield.

Major General Gao had already arranged a helicopter for Chu Feng. Everything was prepared, and they were merely waiting for Chu Feng and his men to arrive.

The moment they boarded, the helicopter took off. Following the information provided by Li Zeming and the traffic authorities, it flew directly toward the Xiangnan Expressway.

The traffic authorities had already begun sealing off the expressway. One section had been completely closed, and every entrance near the Xiangnan Expressway had been blocked.

After more than half an hour in the air, Chu Feng spotted the white SUV through the helicopter window.

Two police cars were already following it from behind. There were no other vehicles ahead of the SUV; evidently, the traffic officers had cleared the road.

A while later, vehicles from the traffic authorities forced the white SUV to stop. Seeing this, Chu Feng ordered the pilot to set down nearby. He and Ma Han rappelled from the helicopter and landed not far from the expressway.

The moment he touched down, Chu Feng ran onto the highway. The SUV was sitting there motionless, its windows tightly closed, and no one had emerged.
