Chapter 101: Farewell to the Purple-Haired Girl Once More
Chu Feng had spent the entire morning preparing medicinal soups for Elder Chen and only found some free time in the afternoon. With nothing pressing, he went to help Han Xuefang with acupuncture and dressing changes for the patients. Since he was idle anyway, he thought it a good opportunity to spend time with Han Xuefang and nurture their relationship.
“Chu Feng, come help me bandage this girl. Her leg is injured, and she has an abrasion on her arm,” called a colleague of Han Xuefang, overwhelmed by the workload. Everyone at the nurse station knew about the relationship between Han Xuefang and Chu Feng, and they all recognized Chu Feng as a highly skilled doctor.
“Be careful watching the needle; don’t let it slip,” Chu Feng said after finishing the acupuncture, giving a couple of cautions before moving to another ward.
Inside that ward lay a girl with purple-dyed hair resting on the hospital bed. The moment Chu Feng saw her, a chill ran through his body.
Ziyan had not expected to encounter her target while simply coming to the hospital for a dressing change. She had previously researched Chu Feng and knew he was always at the hospital. However, the information indicated that Chu Feng was the personal physician to a mysterious elderly man—so why was he downstairs tending to patients? What the files didn’t mention was that Chu Feng was romantically involved with Nurse Han Xuefang.
Chu Feng didn’t want to alert the purple-haired girl. If she lost control, who knew what havoc she might wreak? He examined the wounds on her leg and the scrape on her arm, then carefully cleansed them with iodine, applied Yunnan Baiyao ointment, and finally wrapped the injuries with bandages.
“Come with me. Don’t try any tricks in the hospital, or you’ll find out what despair really means,” Chu Feng said quietly, his voice low but laced with deadly intent.
Ziyan tried to use her charms to confuse him, but Chu Feng no longer looked into her eyes.
Helpless, Ziyan followed Chu Feng out. As they stepped out, they ran into Han Xuefang.
“Chu Feng, once you finish here, I’m about to hand over my shift. Let’s go eat together,” Han Xuefang said, linking her arm with his. Everyone at the hospital knew of their relationship, and she was not shy about it.
“I have other matters. You should go back alone and be careful on the way,” Chu Feng said coldly, pulling his arm free from Han Xuefang’s grasp.
Ziyan, who had just come out and witnessed this scene, smiled faintly. Now she seemed to understand why Chu Feng was helping patients downstairs.
“Let’s go. Didn’t you say you’d accompany me to a room? I’ve already booked it,” Ziyan said lightly as she approached Chu Feng and Han Xuefang, then turned and left.
Seeing Ziyan try to run off, Chu Feng left Han Xuefang standing there without a word and immediately gave chase.
Han Xuefang, watching Chu Feng ignore her and leave, couldn’t hold back the tears. She couldn’t fathom why he would disregard her to chase after that purple-haired girl, nor why he intended to go to a room with her.
“Stop right there. If you take one more step, I won’t hesitate to carve a cross-shaped wound on your face,” Chu Feng warned as they left the hospital grounds and arrived at a nearby park. It was after hours, so the park was mostly deserted.
“Why so fierce? I didn’t do anything except say a word. Your girlfriend’s mad at me now?” Ziyan teased, amused to have accidentally stumbled upon Chu Feng and his romantic affair.
“Are you coming quietly with me today, or must I bring you back by force? Since you’re trying to kill me, I won’t hold back,” Chu Feng said, unwilling to waste time on other topics. His sole focus was to bring Ziyan back.
“Sorry, I have things to do and can’t go with you. So do as you please. If you want to book a room, go with your girlfriend—I won’t be joining you. Bye,” Ziyan said before dashing off. Chu Feng immediately pursued her.
Since they were in the park, Chu Feng couldn’t attack directly and had to keep chasing her. Seeing his relentless pursuit, Ziyan led him in circles around the park. After running more than ten laps, she was panting heavily and unwilling to move further.
Though Chu Feng’s watch granted him extended stamina, he was equally winded, breathing hard.
“You’re not getting away today. Come back with me,” Chu Feng said, growing impatient. Twisting his wrists, two surgical knives suddenly appeared in his hands.
Ziyan noticed the blades but didn’t know what exactly he held, though the files had shown that Chu Feng excelled in using hidden weapons.
“Hey, beautiful, need some help? Want us to teach him a lesson?” A lewd voice interrupted her thoughts.
“Of course! If you can chase him off, you can do whatever you want with me tonight,” Ziyan said coquettishly to the group of five or six thugs nearby, simultaneously unleashing her charms.
“Let’s get him, boys! That girl’s ours now,” the thugs snarled, charging at Chu Feng.
Chu Feng sighed; he couldn’t just kill them outright. He concealed his knives and swiftly knocked them all down.
After dealing with the thugs, Ziyan had vanished. Unable to find her, Chu Feng kicked each thug once more, breaking two bones apiece.
These thugs were already detested for their behavior, and today they had ruined their own plans. Resigned, Chu Feng returned to the hospital.
As he approached, he saw Han Xuefang crying, comforted by a colleague. Chu Feng assumed she had faced trouble while changing a patient’s dressing.
“Xuefang, why are you crying? Did a patient give you a hard time?” Chu Feng asked, grabbing her hand, only to have her pull away.
“Chu Feng, we sisters thought you were a good man, so we didn’t mind your relationship with Xuefang. But we didn’t expect you to be two-timing—having that purple-haired girl as your girlfriend yet still coming back to mess with our Xuefang,” she said.
