Chapter 66 The Secret in the Computer
Huang Ying noticed a cauldron on the computer screen, accompanied by some text. Just as she leaned in for a closer look, Gu Xiangnan shut off the computer.
“All right, I’ve added you on WeChat. I happen to be heading out—let’s go together,” Gu Xiangnan said, rising from his chair.
Huang Ying quickly averted her gaze and smiled. “Professor Gu, in the future, if you need someone to organize materials or make slides, just leave it to me.”
But her thoughts lingered on the information hidden in the computer. If only she could get the password, stealing the data would be much easier.
Gu Xiangnan suddenly seemed uneasy, his words stammering a little, “N-no, that’s not necessary.”
Huang Ying felt a surge of excitement—clearly, there were quite a few secrets on that computer.
The two walked out together. Gu Xiangnan headed for Hua Hongwen’s office, while Huang Ying said she would return to the classroom. They parted ways at the foot of the stairs.
A minute later, Huang Ying circled back. She approached Gu Xiangnan’s office, knocked twice, and glanced around. This floor was reserved for faculty offices; students rarely came here. At this hour, the corridor was deserted.
Pulling a small lock-picking tool from her pocket, she slipped it into the door gap, aligned it with the lock, and with a twist and a push, the door swung open.
She slipped inside, closing the door behind her. She powered on the computer—there was no login password.
Huang Ying had no idea where the file Gu Xiangnan had viewed earlier was stored. The desktop was almost empty, save for a single folder labeled “Classified Files.”
Found it!
Excitement surged within her as she inserted her USB drive and began copying the folder’s contents. Her heartbeat sped up as she watched the progress bar inch forward. She silently prayed that Gu Xiangnan wouldn’t return unexpectedly.
It would take five minutes to copy everything—five minutes that felt like an endless century.
Just as the transfer was nearly complete, a pop-up appeared on the screen: [Insufficient space on removable disk.]
Impossible! This USB drive was 256GB—how could it not be enough?
She opened the folder and was stunned by what she saw. It was crammed full of videos.
She clicked on one—astonishingly, it was an adult film.
“Dearest Princess, we seven dwarfs are here to serve you.”
“Oh~ my God~ oh!”
Face flushed, Huang Ying opened another.
“Madam, your water pipe is leaking. I’m here to fix it.”
“Madam, don’t touch me there!”
“Oh~ yeah~”
Her heart pounded. She hurriedly closed the media player.
She checked the file size—500GB.
At that moment, footsteps echoed outside. Huang Ying quickly shut down the computer and hid beneath the desk. Once the footsteps faded, she slipped out of the office.
Meanwhile, Gu Xiangnan strolled toward the principal’s office, murmuring to himself, “Seems I should set a password on my computer. That 500GB almost got discovered.”
Soon, he was standing before the principal’s door. He knocked.
“Come in,” came the reply.
The principal was seated at his desk, reviewing documents. Spotting Gu Xiangnan, he set his papers aside and greeted him with a smile.
“Professor Gu, you’re here.”
Gu Xiangnan nodded politely. “Principal, I wanted to discuss something with you regarding my teaching schedule.”
They moved to the sofa.
“Do you have any specific requests?” Hua Hongwen asked. “Feel free to speak up.”
“To be honest, my senior’s company still needs my help. I’d appreciate having some flexibility with my time.”
Hua Hongwen pondered a moment, then said, “I understand. Starting today, you don’t need to keep office hours. Just come in when you have classes.”
“Does that sound acceptable, Professor Gu?”
Gu Xiangnan felt deeply grateful. He thanked the principal, then left the office.
Returning to his own office, he was met by Peachblossom, the white fox, who emerged from her bottle.
“Master, it’s so stuffy in there!”
“You can stay out for a while, but if anyone comes, you need to get back inside immediately, understood?” Gu Xiangnan ordered.
He sat at his desk, booted up the computer, and prepared to open his PowerPoint for further alchemy studies.
Peachblossom hopped onto his lap, stretching herself out.
“Master, since you started working, you never play with me anymore,” she complained.
Gu Xiangnan ignored her, focusing on his computer. First things first—he needed to password-protect those 500GB of files.
He double-clicked the folder.
The folder opened.
“Master, pay attention to me!” Peachblossom nudged his hand with her little head.
His hand slipped, and he inadvertently launched a video.
The media player flickered to life—a female student and a male teacher appeared in a classroom. The girl looked terrified.
“Yamete~”
The male teacher pinned the girl down.
Peachblossom’s large, round eyes went wide.
She had been lounging on his lap, but now, in her human form, she was sitting in his embrace.
“Master, is this how you teach your classes?” the childlike Peachblossom asked, staring at him intently.
“No… absolutely not!” Gu Xiangnan fumbled to close the video, but Peachblossom’s soft curves pressed against his arm, making it difficult to reach the mouse.
If he reached for the mouse, his arm would press against her chest. If he didn’t, who knew what would play next?
While he hesitated, Peachblossom watched with fascination.
“Oh! So that’s an option too.”
“Master, will that girl die? She looks uncomfortable!”
Gritting his teeth, Gu Xiangnan grabbed the mouse. His arm was instantly met with a warm, yielding softness, but he managed to pause the video.
“Hmm? Master, what just poked me?” Peachblossom asked.
Flushing, Gu Xiangnan quickly set her aside and tugged his shirt to cover himself.
To mask his embarrassment, he picked up his teacup.
Peachblossom propped herself on the desk, resting her chin in her hand as she watched him.
“I never realized being a teacher was such hard labor. It’s really physical work,” she said with concern. “Master, can you teach me? Once I learn, I can help you teach—then you won’t tire yourself out.”
Gu Xiangnan nearly spat out his tea in shock, hastily grabbing a tissue to wipe off the monitor.
Once everything was clean, he looked at the display—a realization dawning on him. The media player showed three recent playbacks. But he had only just downloaded the files, and had only accidentally opened one video.
Who had watched the other two?
Clearly, someone had tampered with his computer.
A sense of alarm swept over him—this school wasn’t safe.
He checked the schedule; tomorrow was the weekend, and he had no classes this afternoon. Deciding not to linger, he picked up his phone and called Su Hanyan.
“Senior Sister, I’ll come by the company soon. Are you free?”
“Xiaonan, I was just about to call you about the Huichun Cream. I’ll wait for you at the office. Let’s talk in person.”
Before leaving, Gu Xiangnan made sure to restore his computer to factory settings.
Later, when Huang Ying returned, she would find nothing but an empty machine.
