Chapter 61: Ten Million Given to an Ingrate
He cried out and hid behind the back of the sofa.
Taoyao playfully bared her teeth at Wang Ke, who trembled all over with fear.
Gu Xiangnan, seeing this, chuckled lightly and beckoned him over. “Don’t be afraid. She listens to me now; she won't hurt you.”
Gu Xiangnan thought to himself that Wang Ke was often by his side, so there was no point in hiding it. He might as well tell him directly.
“Impressive, Brother Nan! Even a fox spirit listens to you,” Wang Ke had to admire him. Beautiful women always seemed to surround Gu Xiangnan.
And now, there was another enchanting little fox girl—one who looked so young and delicate.
Truly, his blessings with women were beyond compare!
“Brother, you’re here!”
The door to the private room opened, and Yang Dianfeng walked in. He paused for a moment when he saw Taoyao’s unfamiliar face.
Gu Xiangnan explained the situation to him as well.
Yang Dianfeng was far more composed than Wang Ke. As the underground king of Jiangning, he’d seen it all and feared nothing.
He nodded politely to Taoyao.
“Brother Nan, the posts about you online are clearly a smear campaign. Do you know who’s behind it?” Wang Ke asked seriously.
“What? Someone’s spreading rumors about my brother? What’s going on?” Yang Dianfeng’s face turned grim as he asked.
“It’s just a petty figure who started the rumors about me. There’s no need for you to get involved,” Gu Xiangnan waved his hand, unconcerned.
Yang Dianfeng asked with concern, “Did anyone at the university say anything to you? Do you need me to have a word with them?”
“No, that’s not necessary. I’ve already been expelled.”
“What?” Yang Dianfeng slapped the tea table and stood up from the sofa. “You’re the victim here—why would they expel you?”
Gu Xiangnan had never explained in detail why he was at the university, only mentioning casually that he’d gone there to study.
So both Yang Dianfeng and Wang Ke assumed Gu Xiangnan had been expelled as a student.
Now he needed to clarify.
“In truth, I was invited to serve as a professor, but the president asked me to go undercover before he returned from a business trip, to investigate the real state of teaching at the school.”
“Who would have thought everyone would assume I was just a student and easy to bully?”
Gu Xiangnan raised his tea and took a slow sip.
“So, even if you don’t intervene, they’ll invite me back.”
Though he spoke lightly, Wang Ke felt indignant on his behalf.
Who was his Brother Nan? Frankly, there was no one in all of Jiangning who could compare to him.
How could he let his brother suffer such a setback?
Unable to swallow the injustice, Wang Ke took advantage of Gu Xiangnan and Yang Dianfeng’s conversation to slip out of the private room and call his father.
He told Wang Jinquan the whole story.
Wang Jinquan was furious!
He had just donated ten million to the university, and immediately afterward, the school turned around and kicked his friend out.
Had he just given those millions to ingrates?
In Jiangning, no one dared to treat the Wang family like this.
After hanging up on his son, Wang Jinquan immediately dialed Hua Hongwen’s number.
“Hello, Mr. Wang!” On the other end, Hua Hongwen sounded very enthusiastic.
“I am not well! I demand to rescind the donation agreement and withdraw all my funds.”
His words rang out with authority.
“Mr. Wang, what’s happened? Why do you suddenly want to withdraw?” Hua Hongwen was clearly unaware of what had happened at the school and was at a loss for how to respond to such a sudden change.
“Hmph!” Wang Jinquan gave a cold laugh. “I just made a donation, and you immediately expelled my friend Gu Xiangnan!”
“Are you trying to slap me in the face?”
Hua Hongwen was stunned; Wang Jinquan seemed truly furious.
He hurriedly tried to calm him down. “Mr. Wang, please don’t be upset. I’m away on business and am not aware of what’s happened at the university.”
“Please give me a little time. I will immediately call back and investigate, and I promise to give you a satisfactory answer.”
Afterward, Hua Hongwen urgently contacted the vice president.
“President, is there something you need me to do?” the vice president asked respectfully.
“You fool! How could you expel the friend of our donor?” Hua Hongwen roared over the phone.
“Wha—what? Expel? No, I haven’t!” the vice president protested.
“How dare you deny it? Didn’t you expel Gu Xiangnan?”
“Gu Xiangnan? Oh, that young man!” The vice president spoke carelessly, “Is there some misunderstanding? He’s just a poor characterless kid, clinging to wealthy women...”
“Nonsense!” Hua Hongwen coughed in anger. “He is an important guest! No matter what, you must invite Gu Xiangnan back before tomorrow.”
“Otherwise, the donor will withdraw his funds!”
After being chastised by the president, the vice president was left seething with resentment.
He turned around and called the department head, berating him for expelling Gu Xiangnan directly.
The department head felt wronged. He’d been following the vice president’s cues, yet now he was being blamed.
The vice president pushed the responsibility onto him and ordered him to invite Gu Xiangnan back at once.
But the department head had no way to contact Gu Xiangnan except by looking for his file in the records office.
No matter how much he searched, he couldn’t find any file on Gu Xiangnan.
This left him puzzled.
Who exactly was Gu Xiangnan? Why was there no information on him?
With no other choice, the department head called President Hua Hongwen for guidance.
“President, who exactly is this Gu Xiangnan? I couldn’t find him in the student records.”
“That’s not your concern,” Hua Hongwen replied, not revealing anything.
The department head assumed his rank was too low to be told, so he stopped asking.
He only requested Gu Xiangnan’s phone number and address.
Meanwhile, after calling Wang Jinquan, Wang Ke returned to the private room.
As he pushed open the door, a waft of fragrance greeted him.
“Damn!” Wang Ke’s eyes widened in astonishment.
Besides Yang Dianfeng and Gu Xiangnan, the room was now filled with over a dozen beautiful women.
These girls, each with their own charms, had all been carefully selected for their beauty. Not only were they stunning, but their figures were alluring, and their scanty attire made them all the more tempting.
“Say hello. Greet Brother Wang,” Yang Dianfeng instructed.
“Hello, Brother Wang!” they called out in unison, their voices crisp and pleasant.
One seductive girl twisted over, took Wang Ke by the hand, and guided him to the sofa.
Wang Ke, ever the playboy, embraced girls on both sides and asked, “Boss Feng, why did you suddenly bring so many beauties to keep us company?”
“I saw my brother was feeling down and wanted to cheer him up,” Yang Dianfeng replied with a wave.
A beauty pulled two cigars from the deep valley of her chest and respectfully presented them to Gu Xiangnan and Wang Ke.
“Brother, Xiao Ke, try our Oscar club’s specialty—milky cigars.”
Gu Xiangnan, in the prime of his youth, also enjoyed the company of beautiful women.
But he had his own boundaries.
How could these women compare to his senior sisters?
Not even close!
No matter how much they dressed up, these women all carried a heavy air of the streets about them.
Compared to his senior sisters, who were all proper ladies, they were on a completely different level.
In the private room, the beauties served the three men: some offered food, some massaged shoulders, others poured drinks.
Other than the seasoned Wang Ke, who took the opportunity to grope, the other two did nothing out of line.
Gu Xiangnan’s phone rang. He saw it was an unfamiliar number.
“Who is this?”
“Is this Gu Xiangnan?”
“I am.”
“This is the department head of the Medical University.”
Gu Xiangnan remembered and asked coldly, “What do you want?”
“Gu Xiangnan, the university formally informs you that you may return to class tomorrow.” Even at this point, the department head still put on airs.
“You think I’ll come back just because you say so?”
