Chapter 36: Kidnapped
Su Hanyan seized the opportunity and said, “Those interested in becoming first-tier agents for the Flower Radiance Rejuvenation Cream need to sign a new contract; the previous one will be voided. If you’ve made up your mind, please follow my assistant to handle the paperwork.”
Wu Meiyu admired how Gu Xiangnan had deftly defused the crisis with only a few words. Hearing Su Hanyan’s instructions, she smiled and addressed the representatives, “If you are ready, please follow me to the conference room to sign the new contracts.”
After weighing the pros and cons, everyone decided to switch to selling the new medicine and followed Wu Meiyu to complete the procedures.
“Xiaonan, thank you so much for what you did just now,” Su Hanyan said, taking Gu Xiangnan’s hand.
“Sister, what are you saying? If I don’t help you, who would I help?”
Su Hanyan felt a warmth blossom in her heart. Entrusting herself to him had been the right choice.
Some representatives, having finished the paperwork, came over to bid Su Hanyan farewell. As she escorted them out, she suddenly saw Wang Mei waiting outside.
“Miss, who are you looking for?”
“Oh, I came with Gu Xiangnan.”
Su Hanyan looked at the tall, beautiful woman before her and couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease.
Gu Xiangnan happened to come out of the president’s office just then, noticing the two women meeting. He introduced calmly, “This is Wang Mei, one of Fifth Sister’s subordinates. By the way, she’s Wang Jinquan’s daughter.”
That was enough to astonish Su Hanyan. She pulled Gu Xiangnan aside and whispered, “Wang Jinquan? He’s had grudges with us before. Can we trust his daughter?”
“Sister, don’t worry. Wang Mei is my friend now. Oh, I wanted to ask if the company has a fruit drying chamber—I need to dry the Immortal Spirit Seeds.”
“Yes, we do.”
Su Hanyan personally led Gu Xiangnan to the laboratory. It was very professional and well-equipped.
Gu Xiangnan carefully handled the Immortal Spirit Seeds, placing them in the drying chamber. Every ten minutes, he had to turn them, and as he waited, he chatted with Su Hanyan.
“Xiaonan, are you really planning to hold a launch event for the Rejuvenation Cream next week?”
“Of course. With such a great product, it deserves proper packaging. It’s bound to be a hit, and your company might even go public.”
The formula Gu Xiangnan possessed was of enormous economic value. Most people would treat it as a treasure, never willing to share it.
So, Su Hanyan probed, “Then we must hurry. At the very least, we need to produce a sample bottle.”
“Sister, do you have any paper? I’ll write out the formula for you right now. We need to prepare the ingredients quickly.” Gu Xiangnan immediately looked for paper to jot down the recipe.
Su Hanyan was overjoyed. Gu Xiangnan clearly didn’t treat her as an outsider.
Her heart fluttered, and she swiftly pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek.
The Imperial Capital, Sunrise Tower.
In his office sat Shunsuke Otsuka, president of the Fusang Traditional Medicine Association’s branch.
On his desk lay a confidential letter, its contents concise and direct: The ninja they dispatched had failed in the mission to assassinate Gu Xiangnan, and had taken poison to end his own life.
“President, the warriors sent by the headquarters have arrived,” a subordinate rushed in.
Shunsuke Otsuka rose slowly, straightened his suit, and strode toward the reception hall.
The entire building’s interior was decorated in the style of Fusang: wooden floors, tatami mats. As Otsuka walked, every few steps, subordinates bearing samurai swords bowed to him.
Anyone unfamiliar would mistake this place for Fusang itself.
In the reception hall, ten men clad in black samurai uniforms sat upright, their faces cold and steely, exuding an indescribable aura of death.
“Thank you all for coming from afar,” the president said calmly as he stood before them.
The samurai rose together and bowed to him.
A deep voice spoke, “Please give us our orders, President.”
Otsuka’s lips curled into a cold smile. “Go and kidnap Yang Dianfeng’s family.”
“Yes!”
The samurai bowed again.
“Then lure Gu Xiangnan over and kill them all. Every last one,” Otsuka’s eyes gleamed with ruthless intent.
“Yes!”
The ten bowed respectfully and withdrew.
Back at Su Hanyan’s company, Gu Xiangnan had finished brewing the infertility medicine. He planned to deliver it personally to Yang Dianfeng’s villa. Afterward, he would return and help his sister make the Rejuvenation Cream; there was still time.
Once again, Wang Mei drove him there on her motorcycle.
Upon reaching Yang Dianfeng’s villa, they immediately sensed something amiss.
First, the usually heavily guarded gates were wide open. Gu Xiangnan had been here several times before—it was never like this.
He felt a sense of foreboding. “Something’s wrong. Be careful.”
“Mm,” Wang Mei replied.
They hurried toward the house and saw several people sprawled near the entrance.
Ah Zhen and Ah Qiang were among them, obviously injured.
Ah Zhen’s eyes lit up when he saw Gu Xiangnan. “Brother Nan... hurry... save the boss. He and sister-in-law have been taken!”
“Who did this? Where did they go?” Gu Xiangnan crouched beside him.
“Fusang samurai... many of them! They went to an abandoned factory in the western suburbs.”
Gu Xiangnan stood, wrapped an arm around Wang Mei’s waist, and flashed over to the motorcycle at the door.
Before Wang Mei could marvel at his speed, he urged her to start chasing.
Wang Mei’s driving skills were unparalleled. To rescue them, she pushed the motorcycle to its limits, and Gu Xiangnan held onto her tightly.
This time, he wasn’t trying to take advantage—he was genuinely afraid of being thrown off.
“Wang Mei... are you... piloting an airplane?” The speed was so dizzying that Gu Xiangnan’s voice wavered in the wind.
“Don’t worry, I really have flown a plane before.” With that, she floored the accelerator, going even faster.
Wang Mei drove so fast that, combined with the motorcycle’s agility during rush hour traffic, they arrived in just half an hour instead of the usual hour.
She parked by the roadside near the abandoned factory.
“Let’s go!”
Yet Gu Xiangnan didn’t get off—their legs were still trembling.
“What’s wrong?” Wang Mei asked.
“It’s nothing, just a bit numb.”
Suddenly, a man stepped out from the roadside, stationed there to wait for Gu Xiangnan.
“Fusang samurai!” Wang Mei recognized him.
The samurai rested his hand on his sword and asked, “Are you Gu Xiangnan?”
“I am,” Gu Xiangnan replied, preparing to get off.
The samurai drew his blade and charged straight at him.
Wang Mei grew anxious seeing Gu Xiangnan’s trembling legs as he got off—he must be somewhat frightened.
The opponent moved fast, closing in on Gu Xiangnan in just a few strides.
Gu Xiangnan, unable to steady himself, collapsed to the ground with a thud.
The samurai, thinking it was some kind of maneuver, paused, but seeing Gu Xiangnan simply sitting, he sneered in mockery.
He assumed Gu Xiangnan’s legs had gone weak from fear.
“Baka!” The samurai raised his sword high and swung it down toward Gu Xiangnan’s head.
“Get out of the way!” Wang Mei rushed forward.
Her combat experience was formidable; with a few swift moves, she kicked the samurai to the ground.
He hadn’t expected this woman to be so fierce.
He had underestimated her!
“Help! Someone!” The samurai shouted from the ground.
Two more samurai burst out of the abandoned factory.
“Watch out, this woman’s dangerous. The man’s a coward,” the fallen samurai warned as he got up.
The three surrounded Wang Mei.
“Who are you? I warn you, don’t oppose the Samurai League. If you know what’s good for you, walk away quietly.”
In truth, they couldn’t defeat Wang Mei and hoped to scare her off.
Gu Xiangnan, sitting on the ground, finally recovered. He stood and said, “Wang Mei, next time don’t drive so fast. My legs turned to jelly.”
With that, he strode toward the three samurai.
