Chapter 13: Great Figure, Just a Bit of a Temper
The man in the baseball cap caught a glimpse of the numbers on the check and his heart began to race wildly.
With trembling hands, he lifted the two slips of paper to his eyes, counting the digits over and over, three times in total.
“Five million... both are five million!”
This was fortune beyond his wildest dreams!
He was so excited he was about to leave at once.
“Stop. Leave the items behind.” A cold, clear female voice sounded from behind.
He turned around to see a beautiful woman stepping out from the shadows, her delicate face frosty as she approached him.
Seeing it was just a woman, the man in the cap let his guard down.
That face, that figure.
Absolutely stunning!
He whistled flirtatiously.
“What do you want me to leave behind? Or do you want me to stay and play with you?” he said with a leer.
“I saw you stealing. Hand over what you took and I’ll spare your life.”
The woman was nearly one meter seventy, with striking features, a high nose, and a well-defined silhouette.
This was the side of the hotel, shrouded in darkness, a stark contrast to the brightly lit lobby.
Glancing around and seeing no one else nearby, the man in the cap grinned.
“Pretty lady, I don’t just steal money, I can rob your virtue too. Want to have some fun with me?”
He lunged at her, trying to grab her.
Bang!
The world flipped upside down in the man’s eyes as the woman threw him over her shoulder, slamming him hard onto the ground.
She was trained!
She twisted his right arm behind his back, her grip nearly snapping his fingers. He howled in pain, begging for mercy.
“It hurts! It hurts! Please, have mercy, miss!”
“Hand it over!” she demanded icily.
He hurriedly fished out the checks with his left hand and handed them to her, reluctant but knowing his life mattered more.
She released him, and he bolted away in panic.
She didn’t bother chasing him. With the two checks in hand, she turned and walked away.
The woman’s name was Wang Mei. She had returned to handle a private matter for her superior.
Because of her special status, her boss had specifically instructed her to keep a low profile and avoid returning home.
Wang Mei had no choice but to take a hotel room.
Then she received a call from home: her father and brother had both been assaulted, the injuries so severe they required hospitalization.
Wang Mei prepared to visit her father in the hospital.
As she reached the hotel entrance, she happened to witness a thief pickpocketing Gu Xiangnan’s bag.
Driven by a sense of justice, she decided to follow the thief and retrieve the stolen items.
As Wang Mei walked back, she ran straight into one of Gu Xiangnan’s men, who was hurrying over.
“Hey, what’s that in your hand?” The young man, out of breath, fixed his gaze on the checks in Wang Mei’s hand.
She raised an eyebrow. “Checks.”
The young man grew excited at once. “Finally found them! Hand the checks over.” He reached out to take them.
Wang Mei pulled her hand back, tucking the checks into her pocket.
She remembered Gu Xiangnan’s face and wanted to return the items to their rightful owner.
How could she just hand them over to a stranger?
“I can’t give them to you. They’re not yours.” With that, Wang Mei ignored him and continued toward the hotel entrance to find Gu Xiangnan.
Seeing her refusal, the young man thought she was trying to keep the money for herself and hurried to block her path.
“Hey! Listen, lady, that money belongs to my boss. Just give it to me.”
He had the nerve to reach into her pocket, trying to snatch the checks by force.
Confident in his own strength, he thought it would be easy to overpower a woman.
Wang Mei’s face frosted over.
“You scoundrel! Looking for trouble?”
She shouted, and with a sweeping kick, sent him stumbling backward to the ground.
The commotion quickly drew the attention of Gu Xiangnan.
He had just reached into his pocket and, realizing the checks were gone, sobered up instantly.
Recalling someone bumping into him earlier, he immediately dispatched his men to search.
Gu Xiangnan hurried over, seeing his man sprawled on the ground while Wang Mei stood nearby, glaring with fury.
“Are you alright?” Gu Xiangnan helped his subordinate up.
The young man pointed at Wang Mei. “She has the checks, but wouldn’t give them back! She must be the thief’s accomplice.”
Hearing this, Wang Mei let out a cold laugh.
“Another scoundrel? See if I don’t teach you a lesson!”
She leaped, nimble as a cat, and her long legs clad in black stockings flashed out like a whip.
Gu Xiangnan smiled, standing his ground, leaning back just slightly.
As Wang Mei’s kick reached his chest, he caught her ankle with a swift motion.
With a gentle lift, her right leg rested on his left shoulder.
Wang Mei gasped, her balance lost as she fell backward.
Gu Xiangnan stepped forward, caught her by the waist, and drew her steadily into his arms.
Her body pressed against his chest, their eyes meeting.
She stood on one leg, the other raised high on his shoulder—her posture a perfect split.
An intoxicating, provocative scene.
Should anyone walk in now, they’d think the two were locked in a passionate embrace.
Gu Xiangnan murmured in her ear, “Nice figure, but your temper could use some work.”
“You shameless rogue! How dare you take advantage of me!” Wang Mei’s face burned crimson with shame and anger as she cursed him.
Gu Xiangnan just smiled, unfazed, shaking his head. “So pretty, yet your mouth is foul. That deserves punishment.”
There was a crisp smack—pain blossomed on Wang Mei’s backside.
She had just been spanked!
Livid, Wang Mei slipped a dagger from her clothes and stabbed fiercely at Gu Xiangnan.
But he seemed prepared. With a swift movement, he dodged her attack easily.
His silhouette seemed to blur, and in the blink of an eye, he was already some distance away.
“Where’d he go?”
“Your heart’s fierce, but you’re too slow,” Gu Xiangnan taunted from behind her.
Another sharp smack—her backside burned again.
Wang Mei’s eyes practically shot sparks. Gritting her teeth, she snarled, “You’re dead!”
Spinning around, she hurled the dagger at him with all her strength.
The blade, propelled by her fury, sped toward Gu Xiangnan’s brow like a released arrow.
He remained calm, catching the blade between two fingers.
In another blink, he was behind her, catching her in a hold.
“Such a pretty girl—why play with knives? Call me ‘big brother’ and I’ll let you go.” He looked down at the beauty before him.
At one meter seventy, Wang Mei was tall for a woman, but before the one-meter eighty-eight Gu Xiangnan, she seemed petite.
Naturally, Wang Mei refused to yield, struggling to break free.
“Will you say it?” Another smack.
No matter how hard she fought, she was trapped, as powerless as the Monkey King pinned beneath the Five-Finger Mountain.
“Say big brother,” Gu Xiangnan commanded.
“Bro…” Wang Mei forced the words out, unwilling and resentful.
Just then, Gu Xiangnan’s phone rang.
He released her and turned aside to answer.
It was his senior sister, urging him to hurry home.
After the call, Gu Xiangnan helped his still-dazed subordinate to his feet, preparing to leave.
He glanced at Wang Mei, who was standing nearby, glaring at him, eyes blazing with defiance and fury.
A playful smile tugged at Gu Xiangnan’s lips as he spoke leisurely:
“I’d advise you to wait until there are fewer people before you go back, or else…”
