Chapter Eight: The Sprite of Light Element
Bai Yue might not be able to cultivate, but that didn’t mean she was ignorant about spirit furnaces. The Light Elemental Spirit was an exceedingly precious elemental spirit furnace.
Spirit furnaces were rare treasures of the Holy Demon Continent. Both humans and demons could absorb them, but the light elemental spirit furnace was the one the demon race despised most.
The reason was simple: demons were inherently attuned to darkness and naturally repelled the attributes of light. Absorbing a light elemental spirit furnace was nothing short of courting death for a demon.
Although demons could not absorb light elemental spirit furnaces, it didn’t stop them from collecting them. After all, for humans, the light elemental spirit furnace was a tremendous boon—especially for priests and knights whose innate attributes aligned with light. Light elemental spirit furnaces greatly enhanced their power.
Among all elemental spirit furnaces, the most precious were those of light and darkness. Not only were they rare, but their significance to both humans and demons was extraordinary.
While the light elemental spirit furnace wasn't ranked especially high among all known furnaces in the human realm, for professions attuned to light, it was a treasure beyond compare.
Its nature was gentle, increasing affinity with light for those whose profession required it and reducing rejection between the furnace and its host.
“This item…” Bai Yue emerged from her thoughts and turned to Bai Nianxuan, saying, “Nianxuan, you should absorb it.”
“It will be of tremendous benefit to you.”
The light elemental spirit furnace was the best for professions like priests and knights.
Seeing it, Bai Yue immediately knew the furnace had been prepared especially for her. Yet, the Demon God Emperor Feng Xiu didn’t know she was incapable of cultivation, so his meticulous preparations missed their mark.
If she brought this spirit furnace back to the Sanctuary Alliance, it would indeed strengthen their power and earn her respect, but she preferred to give it to her cousin Bai Nianxuan.
Bai Nianxuan was momentarily stunned and whispered, “This is too precious. I can’t accept it.”
It was a light elemental spirit furnace, after all!
She was indeed tempted—such a treasure was rare—but she remained resolute.
She was confident that in the future she would acquire a fine spirit furnace of her own. Her faith in herself was unwavering.
Bai Yue smiled gently at her. “Take it. The light elemental spirit furnace is useless to me. Rather than letting it go to outsiders, I’d rather you absorb it.”
That was Bai Yue’s genuine thought.
“But…” Bai Nianxuan scratched her head and said, “But these things were meant for you.”
She didn’t think herself worthy of gifts from the Demon God Emperor Feng Xiu.
In truth, everything here was Feng Xiu’s compensation for Bai Yue, and had nothing to do with her.
Bai Yue’s exquisite face was lit with a smile as she spoke softly, “They’re mine, so I decide who receives them. I am your elder cousin. When elders gift, the younger must not decline.”
“Take it. This is my gift to you.”
Bai Nianxuan hesitated, then nodded. “Alright, thank you, sister.”
She gave Bai Yue a sweet smile.
“I really like it.”
“Don’t delay—absorb the light elemental spirit furnace at once,” Bai Yue urged, prompting her to absorb the light elemental spirit.
With Bai Nianxuan’s persuasion, Bai Yue’s intentions shifted.
Since these treasures would only rot in Feng Xiu’s vault, it was better to let Bai Nianxuan absorb them—at least they’d serve a purpose.
Bai Yue couldn’t cultivate, so the light elemental spirit was useless to her.
Though gentle and requiring no cultivation level, Bai Yue’s body had been damaged years before—she didn’t even have the opportunity to cultivate.
Without spiritual power, absorbing the light elemental spirit furnace was impossible.
Bai Nianxuan stepped forward and gazed at the light elemental spirit inside the box.
Her golden eyes stared intently, brimming with apprehension.
The light elemental spirit was pure white, like the most pristine crystal sculpted into form, clothed in a golden short dress, revealing pale arms and long slender legs.
Her golden hair cascaded down her waist, and transparent wings fluttered gently.
From Bai Nianxuan’s perspective, she was a beautiful light elemental spirit.
Her ears were pointed, distinctly different from the rounded ears of humans—a hallmark of the elven race.
Seeing the dense aura of light on her, Bai Nianxuan paused, then reached toward the box.
“Little spirit…”
“My name is Bai Nianxuan. Will you become my spirit furnace?”
She asked softly, her voice as gentle as a feather brushing the ears of the light elemental spirit.
The spirit stared blankly, then fluttered her wings and landed in Bai Nianxuan’s palm.
Bai Nianxuan’s heart softened instantly. She lightly touched the spirit’s golden hair with her fingertip, her delicate face radiating joy.
Feeling the spirit’s closeness, Bai Nianxuan’s smile deepened.
A gentle golden glow shimmered on the light elemental spirit, and Bai Nianxuan felt the rich presence of light.
A pale golden liquid appeared in her palm—her own sparse spiritual power condensed into light elemental energy.
The light elemental spirit immediately cupped her tiny hands and drank the light elemental liquid.
A joyful gleam shone in her golden eyes.
She opened her cherry-like mouth and bit Bai Nianxuan’s palm.
Instantly, crimson beads of blood welled from the tender skin.
As the blood flowed, the light elemental spirit dabbed it with her small hand.
Golden light radiated from her body, and crimson-gold runes appeared on her form.
Bai Nianxuan’s face showed astonishment.
She felt a warm sensation within, as if she were immersed in a sea of sunlight.
Then, the light elemental spirit transformed into golden light and entered her chest, becoming a part of her.
At the same time, a golden mark appeared on Bai Nianxuan’s brow.
The sense of spiritual connection was strange and wonderful—she and the light elemental spirit were now of one mind, able to sense each other’s joys and sorrows.
Rich golden light enveloped Bai Nianxuan.
Seeing this radiance, Bei Qing and Zi An’s eyes flickered with complex emotion before quickly returning to calm.
“So warm…”
Bai Yue watched Bai Nianxuan, bathed in golden light, and spoke softly.
Her gaze was gentle.
“Mm.” Bai Nianxuan nodded. “After absorbing the light elemental spirit, I feel warm all over, as if I’m basking in sunlight.”
“Isn’t that wonderful?” Bai Yue’s gaze shifted to another tray. She strode forward and lifted the red cloth.
A golden longsword, three inches wide and seven feet long, appeared before them.
Its blade was pure gold, with a groove in the hilt holding a golden gemstone.
“Your Highness, this is a sword imbued with the attribute of light, forged from ancient dragon bones and elven blood.”
Bei Qing spoke with utmost respect.
