Loki has escaped, and S.H.I.E.L.D. has arrived.
Under the powerful impact of Su Ye’s energy blast, Loki was hurled skyward, his attempt to control the ancient Casket of Winters and unleash freezing air interrupted instantly. The chilling mist that had been spreading so madly slowly faded away.
Having struck true, Su Ye did not relent. He rose, ready to follow up with a flying kick—his signature “Ultra Rending Missile”—aimed to finish Loki off with a deadly combo. Now that he had the upper hand, he intended to press the attack, to pursue the enemy relentlessly and not rest on his laurels.
However, Loki, suspended in midair, broke all expectations by suddenly letting out a piercing cry.
“Heimdall!”
Boom!
Before the words had even faded, a brilliant rainbow beam descended from the sky, enveloping Loki completely. Su Ye had no choice but to abandon his attack and retreat from the dazzling light’s range. The rainbow light was unmistakably the Bifrost, connecting this world to Asgard. Su Ye had no intention of charging into Asgard unprepared; that would be walking straight into the enemy’s den, a place from which he might never return.
Dragging along a still-dazed Terry, Su Ye regrouped with the other returning fighters. They stood at a distance, quietly marveling at the magnificent pillar of colored light shooting up into the heavens.
“What was that?” someone in the crowd asked.
Su Ye remained silent; this was not the time to play the role of the prophet. He had already revealed the Bifrost’s name, but he could not begin to explain how he knew such things—it would only invite more questions.
It was Athena who stepped forward to dispel the confusion.
“This seems to be some form of teleportation—its other end is somewhere far away, somewhere we know nothing about. I doubt it’s even on Earth. That means, the guy we just fought, he’s likely an alien!”
“An alien!”
Everyone’s spirits soared. Aliens had featured in countless books and films; everyone had heard of them, but science had never confirmed their existence. And now, they had not only seen one, but fought him!
Joe Higashi and Ryo Sakazaki looked down at their own hands and feet, as if staring at gold.
“We… we were just fighting an alien? These hands and feet—they’ve actually landed blows on an alien!”
It was like those avid fans who, after shaking hands with their idol, vow never to wash their hands again… No, pop stars were nothing compared to aliens. These hands and feet were now priceless!
“Shall I chop off your hands and feet and package them up for sale?” Su Ye snorted with a laugh.
The two immediately straightened up and waved their hands. “No need for that! Next time that alien shows up, we’ll catch him and sell him instead. That’ll fetch a much heftier price.”
“Exactly! The only problem is his invisibility ability—it’s tough to counter. Athena, we might need your help with that.”
“Of course. And when we sell him, Athena gets a share.”
The two reached an instant agreement, slinging arms over each other’s shoulders as they prepared to head off for more drinks. The others, too, joked and laughed, ready to leave. But just then, a group of men in black suits and armed with guns surrounded them.
“What happened here?” demanded a bearded man. Well—compared to the fighters, none of these men, including the speaker, could be called burly. Joe Higashi, bare-chested, and Ryo Sakazaki, with his gi open, needed only to stand there for the men in black to seem utterly unimpressive.
Su Ye happened to recognize the speaker, though he couldn’t recall his name. He only remembered he had starred in “Wolf Warrior 2” and played the villain Crossbones in “Captain America: Civil War”—the one who nearly took down Captain America with a suicide bomb. As it happened, he was a seasoned member of Hydra.
“I’m Brock Rumlow, agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” the man introduced himself. Perhaps it was the imposing aura of the fighters before him, but Brock decided to introduce himself, sparing Su Ye the trouble of remembering a minor character’s name.
Brock was responsible for the security of the research team at the Shiranui Dojo. Though they hadn’t witnessed the entire battle, they had seen enough from afar to know these people were strong. His tone was not especially forceful, and the agents behind him held their guns at the ready, but didn’t point them at anyone.
Yet Su Ye still felt a hint of danger. He glanced into the distance with his spider senses and saw, far off on the roof of the Shiranui Dojo, a stocky man crouched in the shadows, bow in hand, an arrow nocked and aimed straight at them.
If Su Ye’s guess was right, this could only be Hawkeye—Clint Barton himself. In S.H.I.E.L.D., there was only one person known for his archery skills.
Having someone aiming an arrow at his head from afar left Su Ye thoroughly annoyed. Even if it was Hawkeye, a founding Avenger, he had no right. The only original Avenger without a solo movie—what gave him the nerve to threaten Su Ye with a bow?
Su Ye nearly shot a web or web-bullet right at Clint Barton’s face. The urge to splatter him with webbing was almost irresistible.
Wait—Hawkeye was a man, not Black Widow… Well, either way, the sentiment was the same.
But Su Ye was in the guise of a martial artist and couldn’t expose his Spider-Man identity, so he kept his web-shooters hidden. No webs? No problem. On the spot, he charged up a “Gale Fist” and hurled it toward the distant archer.
Boom!
A section of the Shiranui Dojo’s roof exploded, and Clint Barton leapt off the roof just in time to dodge the strike.
With no more distant threats aiming weapons at him, Su Ye finally felt satisfied.
“Excuse me, sir, but please refrain from attacking without cause. We don’t want any unnecessary misunderstandings,” Brock Rumlow said gravely to the group of fighters—a warning, but also a piece of advice.
Before Su Ye could respond, Joe and Terry stepped forward, pressing their chests against Brock Rumlow.
“What do you mean, ‘attacking without cause’? That’s Shiranui Dojo over there—Ye’s home! Would he attack for no reason? Maybe you should make sure your own people are clean before you start making baseless accusations!”
“You’re with S.H.I.E.L.D., right? So what? Does that give you the right to point guns at law-abiding citizens like us? We just drove off an alien and helped save the Earth—we’re heroes!”
“Joe can’t hold back his temper anymore. Go on, tell your guys to open fire, and we’ll see what’s faster—my fists, or your guns!”
