Times Square. Only a week had passed since the attack at the Aerospace Carnival during the last exploration. The Green Goblin had caused significant chaos, yet the actual damage to buildings was surprisingly minor. In less than a week, the area had been restored to its former appearance. As a landmark of New York City, the speed of repair here far surpassed that of other places—after all, it was a matter of the city’s pride.

Tonight, newly repaired and with much of the concrete still damp, Times Square once again greeted the destructive Green Goblin.

“Hahaha! Spider-Man, where are you hiding? Are you only brave enough to cower like a turtle, afraid to come out and face me?”

Cameras had been pre-installed all over Times Square, broadcasting the Green Goblin’s antics not only on television but also live on the square’s giant screens. For a moment, his hideous, devil-masked face seemed to fill the entire world.

He was arrogant and wild—no, to be precise, he was manic. After nearly a week of fruitless searching for Spider-Man, whatever patience he once had was now utterly worn away.

Tonight, he was ready to go all in. If Spider-Man didn’t show, he would simply blow up Times Square.

Just then, in the distance, a swinging silhouette finally appeared.

“Spider-Man? Is that really Spider-Man?”

As Su Ye arrived near Times Square and paused atop a tall building, the citizens of New York finally got their first real look at the superhero who, rumor had it, had silently protected their city for a week.

A week might not sound long, but that was only the time people had known about him. Who could say how many years he had watched over New York in solitude before this? Isn’t there a saying: “Peaceful days exist only because someone else bears the burdens”? Spider-Man was surely that person, quietly carrying the weight for New York.

“Suddenly, I feel so moved!”

People have always worshipped heroes—especially in a country that reveres individual heroism as much as this one.

As a superhero, Spider-Man’s exploits needed no lengthy retelling. His name alone, the dashing suit, and the athletic yet lean figure beneath it were enough to make countless starry-eyed girls swoon. The two actresses the Green Goblin was holding seemed unable to keep their knees together.

“Ah! Help! Spider-Man, save me! Ahhhh!”

Su Ye didn’t even need to look to know that voice belonged to Mary Jane. That shrill, pig-like cry stood out like a rooster among hens. Fortunately, Su Ye was not Peter Parker, and his girlfriend wasn’t Mary Jane. Otherwise, he’d have been utterly distracted, all strategy lost, his mind thrown into chaos by concern alone.

“Heh heh, Spider-Man, you finally showed up!”

The Green Goblin turned, his devil’s mask fixing on Su Ye, a trace of grievance in his voice—like a lover scorned... best not to dwell on that analogy, it was too disgusting.

Su Ye frowned beneath his mask. “You were looking for me?”

He honestly had no idea the Green Goblin had been hunting him for a week, nearly to the point of madness. Had he known... well, he wouldn’t have come at all. After all, sparring with the Green Goblin was nowhere near as interesting as training with Mai Shiranui.

After a week of training, Su Ye’s skills had improved by leaps and bounds. Not only could he now break through Mai’s defenses, but he could even go toe-to-toe with her. Of course, that was assuming Mai didn’t use her fire attacks—if she unleashed her endless Dragon Flame Dance, Su Ye would have a hard time getting close without his web shooters.

He did have his own ultimate move, the “Empty Break Kick”—a flying spinning kick not unlike the legendary Foshan Shadowless Kick. Su Ye had mastered it, but he couldn’t bear to use it against Mai. Sparring wasn’t the same as a game, and who could ruthlessly unleash such a flying kick on a beautiful, trembling girlfriend across from him? If he accidentally turned it into the “Chest-Bursting Kick,” where would he go to cry about it?

A Mai Shiranui without her signature bounce would see her happiness index cut in half! His own girlfriend deserved to be cherished and protected; others, well, that was a different matter.

Take Mary Jane’s shrill, never-ending screams, for example—Su Ye felt not the slightest ripple in his heart.

“That’s right, I’ve been looking for you, searching for a whole week, but you coward, you’ve been hiding like a turtle, too afraid to show yourself!” the Green Goblin cackled. “But now, I’ve found your weakness—your precious friends in New York? Ha! Do you see them? Their lives are in my hands, life or death at my whim. What will you do, Spider-Man?”

With that, the Green Goblin swung his arms wide, flinging the two actresses in opposite directions. Two people, two directions—Spider-Man could only save one. No matter whom he chose, the other would haunt his dreams forever.

The Green Goblin was quite pleased with his little dilemma. Spider-Man, oh Spider-Man, what choice will you make?

Across from him, Su Ye didn’t even turn his head. Adults don’t do multiple-choice questions—he would have both.

He raised his hand, firing two webs toward the falling actresses. Then he anchored the other ends to the rooftop beneath his feet and let them be. He would save them if he could, but he wasn’t about to risk his own life for it. Su Ye was clear on that. He’d done what he could. As for whether the actresses, dangling by the webs, might slam into the wall and burst their implants—well, that wasn’t his concern.

“Huh? That’s not the behavior I’d expect from New York’s friendly neighborhood hero,” the Green Goblin remarked in confusion. But Su Ye had no time for chit-chat. He leaped forward in a single bound.

Midair, while the Green Goblin was still stunned, Su Ye pointed both hands, fingers extended like pistols. From his web shooters, white, ball-shaped webs shot out like bullets.

This was a new function he’d added to the web shooters, inspired by the third generation Spider-Man. The effect was impressive—not as lethal as real bullets, but powerful enough to break an ordinary person’s arm within ten meters at full power.

Better yet, he could fire them in rapid succession. As he soared through the air, Su Ye transformed into a one-man barrage, leaving the Green Goblin squinting and unable to see.

“Let the bullets fly!”
