“What do you mean by this? Are you trying to insult me with money?” At this point, Chen Yufeng had no shortage of cash—over five million still sat untouched in his account. What did he care for a few paltry tens of thousands? He took the money, then flung it straight into Jiang Tailong’s face, roaring, “How do you expect to get anywhere without the slightest sense of responsibility? I told you to slap yourselves so you’d truly understand your mistake. Do you get it?”

“Ah? Well...” Jiang Tailong and his crew were naturally seething inside, but the pain of Chen Yufeng’s iron fists was still fresh in their memory. They had no wish for a repeat performance. After exchanging helpless glances, and under the threat of Chen Yufeng’s raised fist, they reluctantly began to slap themselves.

Smack, smack, smack—

Humiliated beyond measure, the group delivered more than a dozen resounding slaps to their own faces before Chen Yufeng finally nodded in satisfaction. “Let this be the end of today’s affair. I hope you’ve genuinely come to understand your mistake. This is your only chance—if you ever try to get revenge, I’ll destroy you. Is that clear?”

“Yes, yes, we understand, we surrender,” Jiang Tailong and his men hastily replied, nodding in terror like lambs before the slaughter, their faces contorted with humiliation.

“As long as you understand. You can’t afford to mess with me. Next time you see me, steer clear. Did you hear me?”

“Yes, we’ll do as you say.” There was nothing left in Jiang Tailong’s group but submission; any last shred of defiance had been beaten out of them.

Having made his point, Chen Yufeng felt a surge of satisfaction and could not be bothered with them any longer. He adjusted his clothes and leapt down from the car.

But scarcely had he landed when a police car screeched to a halt right in front of him. Four or five officers poured out, guns drawn. “Hands up! Don’t move!” they shouted.

Three of the officers had their weapons trained on him. Leading them was a striking policewoman, none other than the fierce officer Liu Teling, whom Chen Yufeng had teased not long ago. At her side stood a tall, imposing young officer, Zhao Zijun, along with three burly male officers.

Liu Teling had been on a routine patrol in the area when a call came in about a hostage situation nearby—a matter of life and death. They’d pursued the lead at once. With her sharp eyesight, Liu Teling instantly recognized the man she’d been hunting all day: the very delinquent she’d failed to catch, now appearing right before her. For a moment, she was so delighted she nearly forgot herself.

So, you little rogue, you’ve finally fallen into my hands. Let’s see what you can do now. Try to outwit me, will you? I’ll see you ruined yet!

Chen Yufeng’s heart sank as he saw the police car approach. Who was the busybody who called them? Worse, the lead officer was a familiar face—he groaned inwardly. Fate truly had a sense of irony.

“Officers, the people you’re after are in the car. I’m the victim here, the law-abiding citizen who was kidnapped,” Chen Yufeng said, silently praying they hadn’t recognized him.

But from the look of things, his prayers went unanswered.

Liu Teling fixed him with an icy stare, scoffing, “Do you enjoy repeatedly insulting my intelligence? Take off your sunglasses, hat, and fake beard, right now.”

As she spoke, her gun was already pressed against his forehead, ready to fire at the slightest sign of trouble. Having witnessed his abilities before, Liu Teling dared not let her guard down.

“Big Sister Busty, I’m innocent—they kidnapped me first,” Chen Yufeng protested.

“Enough nonsense! Take off your disguise and show your true face,” Liu Teling snapped impatiently.

“All right, all right, I’ll take it off, I’ll take it all off, okay?” Chen Yufeng wasn’t afraid of her, but he couldn’t resist teasing the fierce officer as he doffed his hat and glasses. Grinning, he quipped, “Big Sister Busty, you’re so fierce. Could you be a little gentler? It would make it much easier for me to cooperate.”

“Hmph. Whether you cooperate or not doesn’t matter. Now that you’re in my hands, you’re as good as dead,” Liu Teling retorted vengefully, shooting him a glare. Chen Yufeng feigned terror, exclaiming, “Big Sister Busty, I’m truly innocent! You can’t wrong me like this.”

“Innocent? You’re a repeat offender with plenty of crimes to your name, yet you still have the gall to claim innocence?” Of course, Liu Teling didn’t believe a word he said. The humiliation of their last encounter still burned in her memory—she’d shoot him on the spot if only she had a reason. Unfortunately, the scoundrel was now behaving himself, hands clasped behind his head, showing no intention of resisting.

She had no grounds to fire.

Meanwhile, Zhao Zijun had found Chen Yufeng oddly familiar at first glance. Now, with his disguise removed, Zhao recognized him at once. Wasn’t this the show-off in ancient costume? Zhao had long since developed a loathing for those who played the fool only to reveal themselves as heroes at the last moment. The events of the previous encounter were still fresh in his mind. Now, fortune had smiled on him—let’s see how you handle this, you poser. If you think you’ll walk away unscathed, you’re sorely mistaken.

By this time, Jiang Tailong and his crew had climbed out of the Land Tiger, faces battered and swollen. Seeing them, Liu Teling understood the situation: the call had mentioned a group of bald men kidnapping a young man. Clearly, these thugs had tried to abduct this scoundrel, only to end up beaten senseless themselves.

But her hatred for Chen Yufeng ran deep; she was determined to see him punished. So, with a deliberate smirk, she turned to the group and asked, “Were you kidnapped? Someone tried to steal your car, is that right?”

Jiang Tailong froze for a moment before a flash of cunning crossed his face. He quickly nodded and played the victim. “Yes, yes, Officer, you’re as wise as Judge Bao or Detective Dee! We were kidnapped by this guy. He’s got some serious skills and a gun, too. We couldn’t fight him off and got beaten up—you can see what he did to us,” he wailed, pointing to his bruised face, then groaned, “Ow, it hurts, it really hurts! This guy is ruthless!”

The other three bald men weren’t slow on the uptake. Realizing the opportunity, they instantly chimed in, each outdoing the other in their display of misery.

“That’s right, officer! If you’d arrived any later, we’d have lost our Land Tiger—years of hard work down the drain!”

“Please, officer, you have to help us! Do you know how hard it is for honest citizens like us to scrape together enough for a car?”

“Men like him are lazy and crooked, always looking for shortcuts and preying on honest people like us. Thank goodness for the long arm of the law and your timely arrival, officer!”
