Chapter 20: Don't Do This, I'm Still a Student
It was just past two in the afternoon, still several hours before the bar would open. Chen Yufeng, bored out of his mind in his room, once again delved into studying the Divine Disc. He had to admit, the disc's capabilities were astonishing—a sheer delight to explore.
He discovered a host of amusing and mischievous features. For example, there was a skill that could instantly bring bad luck upon someone: making them slip and fall, pop a button off their shirt, burst open their fly, or jam a gun. All these could be accomplished with just one or two reward points.
Even causing malfunctions in planes, missiles, and ships was possible, extending even to aircraft carriers, though those required a higher score. In the end, it all came down to reward points!
It seemed that what he needed most at the moment were reward points. He noticed another thing: the points earned from showing off, slapping faces, or putting others down were pitifully low—only three points per instance.
But saving a life would grant at least thirty points each time. Saving the sick, rescuing people from fires or floods—all of these counted. And after a successful rescue, receiving praise and admiration from bystanders would earn him additional points.
Well! That seemed to be the quickest way to rack up points. Perhaps one day he should play the hero, or even pose as a miracle doctor for fun!
…
By ten o’clock that evening, Chen Yufeng took a taxi to the Maserati Bar. When the taxi pulled up at the entrance, it was almost eleven. The bar wasn't far, but the traffic was horrendous, costing him quite a bit of time.
This was the bar’s peak hour, with business booming and the atmosphere at its most electric. Maserati Bar was packed to the rafters, and a hostess led Chen Yufeng to the bar, where he took a seat. Immediately, a server approached enthusiastically to take his order.
Chen Yufeng wasn’t there to drink or have fun, so he simply ordered a bottle of red wine and some fruit and snacks. In two or three minutes, his wine and snacks were brought to him.
As he sipped his wine, he scanned the room: young men and women swayed to throbbing music under the dim, flickering lights, their bodies twisting as they released their passion.
Chen Yufeng was no stranger to such scenes; he’d partied at bars with his close friends several times before.
Standing right across from him was the bartender—a sultry woman of about twenty-five or twenty-six, dressed in a sexy black low-cut top, her heavy makeup only enhancing her allure. Especially eye-catching were her ample curves, which drew plenty of attention.
Noticing the handsome, sunny-looking young man drinking alone, she leaned in with a flirtatious smile. “Hey there, handsome. You don’t look familiar—first time here? Are you alone?”
“Yes,” he replied.
“Drinking alone is boring. Let me keep you company for a couple of drinks and help pass the time!” She fluttered her lashes, leaning forward so her generous assets were even more prominently displayed—a mature charm that could be irresistible to men.
But Chen Yufeng wasn’t particularly moved by women like her.
She seemed to be the bartender he was looking for, so he didn’t turn her away.
“You’re very beautiful,” he complimented her deliberately. “A lot of people are sneaking glances at you. With such good business here, I bet you’re a big part of the reason.”
“Such a smooth talker!” she laughed, raising her glass. “Let me toast you.”
“Cheers.”
They clinked glasses and exchanged a few words. Not wanting to waste time, Chen Yufeng leaned closer and asked quietly, “I heard you have some informants here. Can you put me in touch with one?”
She gave a sly smile. “You’ve come to the right person. That’s my business. So, handsome, what kind of information are you after?”
He looked at her and, drawing near, whispered, “I want the exact whereabouts of Zhao Tianlong, Chairman of the Dragon Soar Group. Can you do it?”
She paused, surprised, but didn’t press further. They never asked why a client wanted information—so long as they were paid, they found out what was needed.
Recovering, she replied with a coquettish smile, “Of course that’s possible, but he’s notoriously cautious and his movements are very hard to track down. As for the price…”
“Oh?” If Chen Yufeng didn’t understand her meaning, he’d be a fool. Price wasn’t an issue for him. He clinked glasses with her and laughed heartily, “Price is no object—just get me the information.”
“Great! I like straightforward men.” She brightened, saying, “Five thousand. One thousand as a deposit upfront. If we can’t get the information, the deposit is non-refundable.”
“Five thousand?” Chen Yufeng was a little startled. What a lucrative line of work! That much just for some information? It was a bit outrageous.
“If you think it’s too much, we don’t have to do business,” she smiled, toasting him again. “No hard feelings, right?”
She added, “His whereabouts aren’t easy to uncover. Frankly, you won’t find anyone else who can get you the detailed and confidential information I can.”
“Alright, it’s a deal.” Although it felt expensive, Chen Yufeng still had over a hundred thousand in hand, so he agreed without hesitation. He handed her a thousand in cash and asked, “When will I hear back?”
“In two or three days.” As she spoke, she toasted him again. “Pleasure doing business with you! Oh, by the way—my name’s Yao Na. What should I call you? You’ll need to give me your number so I can reach you.”
“My name is…” Chen Yufeng paused, then smiled, “My name is Yu Linfeng.” He gave her his number, and they exchanged contacts.
With his purpose accomplished, Chen Yufeng didn’t linger. He quickly finished his bottle of wine, said his goodbyes to Yao Na, and left the Maserati Bar.
As he was hailing a taxi on the roadside, a slightly plump middle-aged woman approached him with a broad grin. “Hey, young man, come on in and have some fun. We’ve got plenty of fresh, pretty girls inside—you can try anything you like. Satisfaction guaranteed.”
“What are you doing?” Chen Yufeng looked at her, then at the hair salon beside them, and instantly understood. Naturally, he refused.
“Come on, young man, don’t be shy,” she pressed.
“No, no, please, I’m still a student…”
“Students are men too! I’ve seen plenty like you—nothing to be embarrassed about.” The woman laughed knowingly and, without giving him a chance to refuse, started dragging him toward the hair salon.
“Hey, stop, don’t—” Chen Yufeng protested, but somehow, despite his feigned reluctance, he allowed himself to be pulled inside.
Once inside—oh my! In the dim light, a dozen or so young women dressed in revealing, provocative outfits sat waiting. As soon as he entered, several of them surrounded him, their voices sweet and coy.
“Ooh, handsome, you’re already inside—no need to be shy now.”
“That’s right, sweetheart. We’ll make you feel wonderful.”
