Chapter 15: This Is Nothing Short of a Demon
Chen Yufeng could not be bothered to argue with her any longer; his large foot was already pressing down on Jiang Tailong’s face as he smirked, “Dragon, shouldn’t I thank you for teaching me how to behave?”
“No, no, I wouldn’t dare. But, hero, you’re really not with them, are you?”
“I don’t want to repeat myself.”
“Alright, you’re not, that’s good!” Jiang Tailong seemed to glimpse hope again. Though he was seething from being beaten so badly, if this man truly wasn’t with He Meixuan and didn’t intend to meddle further, at least his task wouldn’t be completely ruined. He could always take revenge another time.
After stamping his mark on Jiang Tailong’s face, Chen Yufeng prepared to leave. Delighted, Jiang Tailong watched as the few burly, bald thugs painfully picked themselves up from the ground and surrounded He Meixuan and her friends once more.
The glimmer of hope the three had felt vanished instantly; their hearts plummeted. Was there truly such a coldhearted person? He had already beaten these thugs to a pulp, and yet he wouldn’t spare a word to help them—how utterly shameless!
Just as Chen Yufeng was about to leave, the petite beauty, He Xiaoying, hurried after him. “Hey, you shameless guy! Would it kill you to take us with you?”
“Why should I take you? Are we close?”
“You did ride in our car, you know.”
“That’s because you sprayed orange juice all over me. You called me shameless, didn’t you? So why shouldn’t I stick to my character?”
Chen Yufeng remained unmoved, his demeanor cold and indifferent.
He glanced at Zhao Zijun, who was sprawled on the ground. “Didn’t you say you hated guys who pretend to be weak just to play the hero and save the damsel? You acted as if I was definitely going to save you. I only acted for myself—nothing more. Don’t overthink it.”
“You—” Zhao Zijun regretted having spoken at all.
“Ugh, how can you be like this? Are you really going to stand by and watch two pure, beautiful girls fall into the hands of these filthy brutes?” He Xiaoying was desperate now.
Her soft, fair hands clung to Chen Yufeng’s arm as she gazed up at him with sparkling, pleading eyes, putting on a look of pitiful innocence.
She unleashed her most irresistible charms: “Hero, great hero, big brother, tall and handsome oppa, please save us! I can keep you warm at night, be adorable, pamper you, give you massages—if you save us, I have nothing else to offer and am willing to give myself to you…”
Though young, the little beauty clearly knew how to captivate. Indeed, she was stunning, and her coquettish act was nigh irresistible to any man.
An ordinary man’s heart would have melted instantly, moved to compassion. But Chen Yufeng cut her off impatiently, “I told you, I’m not interested in little girls.”
“Then what about you?” He Meixuan, seeing their last hope slipping away, was frantic. “Take us with you. I’ll give you whatever reward you want, even accompany you—”
Her meaning could not have been clearer, though she could not bring herself to say it aloud. As one of the three campus belles of Ninghai University, she was confident in her allure. She believed no normal man could remain unmoved.
But she was really only thinking to temporarily appease this man, escape danger first, and worry about the rest later.
“You’re very beautiful, but you’re not my type.” Chen Yufeng remained unmoved.
“What—?” He Meixuan froze, understanding dawning in her eyes.
So that’s it—he isn’t a normal man at all. Looking at his attire, it did seem possible. She quickly turned her pleading gaze to Zhao Zijun.
Chen Yufeng’s words had startled Zhao Zijun, but seeing He Meixuan’s desperate look, he understood and, gritting his teeth, steeled himself for sacrifice.
He hurriedly called out, “Hero, wait! What do you think of me? If you help us, I’ll… I’ll fulfill your desires, whatever games you want to play, I’ll do it—alright?”
“I don’t like to play.”
“Then I’ll play with you instead,” Zhao Zijun said, determined to get himself and the two beauties out safely, even if it meant closing his eyes and just doing it.
Just get through this crisis first—he could deal with the aftermath later.
The He sisters sent him grateful smiles, and Zhao Zijun nodded, feeling a warmth in his heart. His sacrifice was worthwhile.
“Are your heads filled with water? Isn’t it obvious what I mean? Do I really have to spell it out for you?” Chen Yufeng was exasperated, unable to fathom their thoughts.
On the surface, he was simply asking for money. Though he already had a hundred thousand on hand, the more the merrier. In truth, he was just enjoying the act.
“How about this: it’s my first day in business, so you’re in luck. I’ll give you a discount—one thousand each, three thousand in total. Understand?”
“Oh? So—you just want money? That’s easy.” He Meixuan and her friends were momentarily stunned, then relieved. Slightly embarrassed, they quickly fished out a wad of cash from a bag and handed it to Chen Yufeng without even counting.
Jiang Tailong grew anxious at the sight and said, “Brother, money is no problem. If you stay out of this, I’ll give you thirty thousand right now—how about it?”
“Are you trying to insult me with money?” Chen Yufeng’s expression darkened.
“No, not at all—you want money, don’t you?”
“Fine. Since you’re so sincere, if I refuse, I’d be disrespecting you, right? Go ahead and give me the money.”
“Alright, alright, I’ll give it to you now.” Delighted that Chen Yufeng had agreed, Jiang Tailong pulled thirty thousand from his briefcase and handed it over cheerfully.
Thirty thousand was a small price compared to the profit from this job. As long as the task went smoothly, there would be plenty of chances to settle the score with this punk in the future. As long as he was in Ninghai, he wouldn’t escape.
Chen Yufeng needed money, so he welcomed it.
Seeing him accept money from Jiang Tailong, He Meixuan and the others were utterly disheartened, despair washing over them.
But then Chen Yufeng turned to her and said, “What are you standing there for? Hurry up and count out three thousand for me.”
“You—” He Meixuan had no idea what he was up to, but since the money was already out, she simply counted out three thousand and handed it to him.
Chen Yufeng held thirty thousand in his left hand and three thousand in his right, waving both before the group.
Jiang Tailong and his men understood instantly.
Clearly, he was showing them that he’d side with whoever paid more.
