Chapter Ninety-Five: The Three Men’s Plan

“Yes, we can do it. If Earth is protected by us, we absolutely can,” Yun Yang hurried to chime in.

“Exactly. With so many of us here, there’s nothing to be afraid of,” Liu Chuang added.

“You still don’t understand. Forget it. I’ll do it myself. We’ll talk again once I’ve got some results,” Rose said helplessly, taking two steps back and looking at the three men who were making assumptions on their own.

“This is betrayal, Rose. You’re betraying the country,” Liu Chuang said, a little angrily.

“I’m not! I’m doing this for the country too!” Rose felt aggrieved; these people simply did not understand. Her tone could not help but sharpen as she pointed back at them.

“This is giving in to Morgana. Have you forgotten how General Dukao died?!” Ge Xiaolun also pointed at Rose and said with some indignation.

Seeing that his two brothers were both attacking his woman, Yun Yang could not let that stand. He hastily pushed their pointing hands away from Rose and said, “What are you doing? What do you two think you’re doing? That’s my woman.”

After saying that, he ignored the two infuriated men, placed both hands on Rose’s shoulders, and looked into her eyes.

“Do you really need to do this?”

“Different roads do not lead to the same destination.”

Seeing the resolute light in Rose’s eyes, and hearing those words, Yun Yang knew she had already made her choice. At a time like this, he could not stop her anymore.

He kissed her forehead and said, “All right. I trust you, and I support you. Just don’t cut off contact.”

Rose touched his face and said, “I won’t let you down.”

With that, she opened a wormhole, waved at the three of them, and turned to leave without another word.

After she was gone, the three sat in the pavilion in silence.

Yun Yang thought about Morgana’s attitude toward Rose, and combined it with what little he had seen before in the animated series, and said, “Brothers, I think I might get cucked by a woman.”

“Who? Morgana?” Ge Xiaolun asked in confusion after hearing Yun Yang’s words.

“I think Morgana’s thoughts toward Rose are less than pure,” Yun Yang said, covering his face.

This time, however, Yun Yang had truly wronged Morgana. Right now she really did not have any special thoughts about Rose. Because of Rose’s relationship with Yun Yang, Morgana looked at Rose as if she were one of her own daughters.

“Then why did you still let Rose go? What was that saying again? Right, sending a sheep into a tiger’s mouth,” Liu Chuang said, slapping his forehead and looking at Yun Yang as though he were an idiot.

“What are you thinking?” Ge Xiaolun also looked at Yun Yang with an odd expression.

“This is what I’m thinking: maybe we can take Morgana down along with the rest,” Yun Yang said quietly, rubbing his nose.

Liu Chuang and Ge Xiaolun were both dumbfounded, and in unison they said, “Are you dreaming?”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Setting aside whether Morgana would even look at you twice, with all the things the demons have done to Earth, we can’t let you do something like that,” Liu Chuang said, patting Yun Yang on the shoulder as he spoke.

“Why don’t we do this: you and I both have close ties to the angels, and there are still so many angels on Earth. How about we just throw in with the angels?” Ge Xiaolun suggested from behind them.

“That doesn’t seem right. We and the angels are in a cooperative relationship,” Liu Chuang said somewhat awkwardly.

“What cooperation? It’s obviously the angels helping us,” Yun Yang said, spreading his hands.

“Come to think of it, that’s true. Earth has already been carved up without our consent anyway. What, are we not allowed to find outside support?” Ge Xiaolun had also let go of his scruples and spoke carelessly.

“Something this important isn’t something the three of us can decide alone. Let’s go back, hold a meeting, and discuss it,” Liu Chuang said, being the oldest of the three and offering the most prudent course of action.

No sooner said than done. The three returned to North Star City, and Ge Xiaolun, using his authority as a senior commander, immediately began convening a military meeting.

The next day, in a tiered conference room, Ge Xiaolun stood at the podium while below him sat high-ranking generals, senior decision-makers, and the members of the Heroes Company.

Old Huang looked around the conference room and saw that nearly everyone who should be there had arrived. He clapped his hands and said, “We can begin.”

Ge Xiaolun nodded, picked up the microphone, cleared his throat, and said, “According to the intelligence report we received from our informant, our Earth has already been divided up by the gods, completely without our consent.”

Then his expression changed, and in an angry tone he continued, “They have shown no regard for us native inhabitants at all. They do not care about our resistance.”

He paused there for a moment, steadying his emotions, and went on. “The result of the council of divine authority is this: the demons will dominate Earth, the Netherworld will come next, and the Sun Court will have less than thirty percent of the ruling authority.”

When Ge Xiaolun mentioned that the Sun Court was also involved, many people cast doubtful looks toward Queen Lena in the front row.

But Lena said nothing. She still had her head on the table, idly picking at her nails.

Ge Xiaolun continued, “Let me explain what this means for Earth. If the demons dominate Earth, there will no longer be any law. Extreme, degenerate freedom will reign, and the order that exists under law will be gone forever.

“As for the Netherworld, it will make people cease to fear death, because in the Netherworld’s value system, death is the beginning of new life.

“And the Sun Court’s values are national peace and public safety, basically the same as those of Hua Xia. But they would have too little power, and would not be of much help at all.”

He stopped there.

“So Earth is going to be plunged into chaos by demons and monsters?”

“Degenerate freedom just means lawless freedom, right? That won’t do.”

“Humanity should decide Earth’s fate for itself.”

“...”

While Ge Xiaolun paused, the people in the conference room began discussing it all at once. Everyone had something to say, but not one of them thought being ruled by others was a good thing.

As the volume of discussion gradually fell, Ge Xiaolun saw that the time was about right and motioned for everyone to quiet down.

When the room once again fell silent, he continued, “Today we’ll discuss where Earth should go from here. We, the people of Earth, and the Heroes Company have no say in the eyes of the gods, so what we say and what we do are not taken seriously by them.”

He paused again, and determination flashed in his eyes as he went on. “The three of us, I, Yun Yang, and Liu Chuang, suggest opening in-depth exchanges with the Angel civilization and, for the time being, placing ourselves under the order of justice in order to survive amid the encirclement of the gods.”

When he finished, Ge Xiaolun directly set down the microphone and waited for the discussion to begin.

“Hiss... Earth is the world protected by Old Sun, not a trial ground for the gods. If they want to dominate Earth, they should first ask whether my staff agrees,” Sun Wukong roared as he leaped onto the podium in a single bound and planted his dark alloy staff on the ground.

At that moment, Old Huang also opened the microphone in front of him and said, “The reason Earth has safely come this far is because of ourselves...”

Just then, a haughty voice suddenly rang out in the conference room.

“Safely come this far? What do you mean, safely come this far? Your Heavenly Emperor, I, Hua Ye, merely took a nap.”

“Who dares show himself?” Hearing that voice, Sun Wukong shot into the air and shouted a challenge.

“Heh, little monkey, and you, a beast body, call me a demon?” As the words were spoken, a man in splendid armor appeared above the podium. It was none other than the King of the Heavenly Palace, Hua Ye.

Treading on the void as if he were walking down a staircase, he spread his arms and strolled step by step onto the podium.

The instant he appeared, Ge Xiaolun drew the King’s Sword, and with a wave of his hand, a transparent barrier appeared between him and the audience seats.

The members of the Heroes Company all drew their weapons as well, which made Yun Yang’s eye twitch. He suddenly realized that he no longer had a weapon of his own, so he simply sat there without moving.

“Don’t be nervous, don’t be nervous. I mean no harm right now. I’m just here to try once more to win you over, power of the galaxy,” Hua Ye said, not even glancing at the tense crowd as he pointed at Ge Xiaolun.

Before Ge Xiaolun could speak, Hua Ye continued, “The Angel civilization can be joined, of course, but forget about the order of justice. As long as you join the order of the Heavenly Palace and obey your Heavenly Emperor, Earth can continue safely on its way. What do you say?”

“We want a mutual alliance of equal standing, not joining some foreign civilization as a vassal,” Old Huang said, eyes bright, staring fixedly at Hua Ye on the stage.

But Hua Ye did not care. He still smiled at Ge Xiaolun, waiting for his answer.

“I am a soldier. I have no right to conduct diplomacy, so I refuse to answer,” Ge Xiaolun said, looking back at Old Huang for a moment before turning forward again with resolve.

“That’s a pity. I can only take that as your refusal. I had high hopes for your Earth. With me, the King of the Heavenly Palace, and a strengthened power of the galaxy, it would be easy to conquer the known universe.

“But unfortunately, you refused. You turned down an opportunity for rise and renewal. In that case, I can only place my hopes on the Three-Body, the Blazing Blue, and the Galactic Empire. Their future will be greater than that of angels and demons alike.”

With mockery on his face, as though Earth had squandered an unimaginably great chance through its present decision, Hua Ye said loudly, “The future of Earth is not for you to decide. Get lost already!”

Sun Wukong could no longer bear the arrogance of this so-called Heavenly Emperor and roared in fury.

“You little monkey are quite bold. Wait until my Heavenly Palace presses in, and then try making a scene again,” Hua Ye said, and then disappeared from everyone’s sight.

After vanishing, Hua Ye arrived in the stratosphere and began contacting his foremost general, the Godslayer Sumali.

He sent several dark-channel messages, but no one replied. Hua Ye could not help curling his lip.

“That Sumali has gotten a little too full of himself. Does he want me, this king, to go personally invite him?”

With that, Hua Ye beat his wings and flew toward where Sumali had last appeared: an empty road on the outskirts of Tianhe City.

Sumali would have liked to answer his king, but as a mass of dark information, that was simply impossible for him to do. In fact, he could not even receive the message.

By the time Hua Ye’s presence vanished from the conference room, Ge Xiaolun finally began to relax.
