Chapter 78: Will You?

“Whoa! You two carry on.” A startled exclamation rang out at the door.

Ge Xiaolun had calculated the time and thought Yunyang should be waking up soon, so he came over to call him so they could hurry to negotiate with the Triangles.

But upon arrival, what did he see? That beast Yunyang, wearing nothing but underwear and grinning lecherously, had his hand pressed on Rose’s head. Rose’s face was flushed, and, based on his years of experience watching certain films, Ge Xiaolun could easily predict what would come next. Surely, it was about to turn into a sausage-eating scene. Good grief, was Rose really this bold? No, more likely, Yunyang was just that much of a beast.

Now, Ge Xiaolun found himself full of regret. How had he let such a considerate girl slip through his fingers, only for Yunyang to swoop in and claim her?

While Ge Xiaolun was beating his chest in lamentation, inside, Rose and Yunyang exchanged a glance—her eyes saying, “You’re doomed,” while Yunyang’s gaze accused, “Why didn’t you lock the door?”

Since they’d already been interrupted, there was no use in lingering. Yunyang hurriedly conjured a set of casual clothes for himself—it wouldn’t do to look out of step with his girlfriend.

Ge Xiaolun hadn’t waited more than two minutes before he saw Yunyang swagger out, legs wide, followed by Rose, whose cheeks were still tinged with pink. But Rose was only blushing from embarrassment; to Ge Xiaolun, with his mind full of unsavory thoughts, it looked like the afterglow of passion.

“Yangzi, that was quick!” Ge Xiaolun looked at Yunyang in surprise, hesitantly voicing his question.

Hearing this, Yunyang nearly tripped over his own feet, a dark vein appearing on his forehead as murderous impulses flickered in his eyes.

Before Yunyang could respond, Rose spoke first.

“Ge Xiaolun, how would you like to die?”

Ge Xiaolun actually thought she and Yunyang were up to no good—clearly, his mind was filled with things not fit for children.

“How about being hacked into eight pieces?” Yunyang chimed in at the right moment.

Hearing that they wanted to chop him up, Ge Xiaolun panicked. All he’d done was accidentally interrupt their private moment; he hadn’t even seen anything. Did they really have to go this far?

For the sake of his own safety, Ge Xiaolun hurried to explain.

“I didn’t see anything! How about I leave right now and come back in half an hour—no, two hours?”

Rose looked speechless; clearly, he hadn’t been thinking anything wholesome.

Yunyang, meanwhile, shot Ge Xiaolun a knowing look, then drew his King’s Sword and said coldly, “What are you imagining? Want a taste of the blade?”

Ge Xiaolun immediately put on a frightened face and said, “I have important news to report, my lord. Please have mercy.”

After a brief round of banter, Ge Xiaolun explained why he’d come to find Yunyang. Under Rose’s worried gaze, Yunyang kissed her on the cheek and said, “Don’t worry, that so-called Triangle is just a fish—a big one, but not tasty.”

He glanced at the two people staring at him in confusion.

“Really, I’ve tried it. Not good at all.”

Ge Xiaolun cleared his throat. “Yangzi, you’re incredible. Now I’m not scared at all.”

Rose leaned in to whisper in Yunyang’s ear, “Bring me back a piece, let me try it too.”

Seeing their interaction, Ge Xiaolun put on a wounded expression. “Alright, enough. Let’s go—Zhixin’s still waiting.”

With that, he strode out ahead toward the wormhole, and Yunyang and Rose had no choice but to hurry after him.

Once through the wormhole, Ge Xiaolun spread his wings and soared into the sky.

Rose paused, a mischievous smile on her face as she asked Yunyang, “Need me to carry you?”

She knew Yunyang had wings, but just wanted to talk to him, so she found an excuse.

Yunyang flashed a confident smile. “Let me show you a surprise.”

“What kind of surprise?” Rose, guessing what he meant, still played along with a look of curiosity.

Without replying, Yunyang gestured for her to retract her mechanical wings. Once she did, the two of them walked to the edge of the Heavenly Blade’s great wings.

As Rose looked on in confusion, Yunyang wrapped his arms around her waist from behind and, holding her close, leapt from ten thousand meters above the ground.

Savoring both the thrill of free fall and the embrace of her beloved, Rose shouted back to Yunyang, “Are you planning to die with me?”

“Yes! Will you?”

“I do!” Rose shouted in response.

“I don’t!” Yunyang laughed heartily, and as his laughter rang out, a pair of pure white wings unfolded from his back, and with Rose in his arms, he soared upward.

“Silly girl, we’ve only just begun. There’s a long road ahead.”

“Xiaolun, where’s Yunyang? Why are you alone?” Zhixin asked, seeing Ge Xiaolun return by himself.

Without looking back, Ge Xiaolun pointed behind him. “Right there, with Rose.”

Beside them, Lianfeng said nothing, but a faint smile appeared on her usually stern face.

But five minutes later, with the sky still empty, Zhixin and Lianfeng couldn’t help but glance at Ge Xiaolun.

Inside, Ge Xiaolun was cursing. That rascal Yunyang wasn’t answering his covert comms.

Finally, on Ge Xiaolun’s fifth attempt to connect, a small black dot appeared in the sky, slowly growing larger.

As it drew close enough, everyone could see clearly: it was Yunyang and Rose. Yunyang struck a Superman pose, while Rose clung to his back, raising a tiny fist of her own.

As they neared, Rose hurriedly disengaged and unfolded her own mechanical wings to fly herself.

After they landed, Rose noticed her Aunt Lianfeng was present. Remembering her earlier posture, her cheeks flushed again.

She took Yunyang’s hand and walked to Lianfeng’s side, sweetly calling out, “Aunt Lianfeng.”

Lianfeng stroked Rose’s hair, then turned her gaze to Yunyang and said, “It’s been so many years, and this is the first time I’ve seen Rose so happy. Boy, I’m entrusting Rose to you. If you ever mistreat her, you’ll regret it.”

“Aunt Lianfeng.” Hearing her aunt say she was handing her over to Yunyang, Rose felt both shy and delighted, unable to stop herself from calling out.

“I will, Aunt Lianfeng,” Yunyang replied solemnly, seizing the opportunity.

“You still have a mission, so I won’t keep you any longer. Go.” Satisfied, Lianfeng patted Yunyang on the shoulder, then took Rose away.

Even as she was being led away, Rose couldn’t help but turn and call out to Yunyang, “Don’t forget what you promised me!”

“I won’t!” Yunyang called back loudly.

After Yunyang finished speaking with Lianfeng, Ge Xiaolun remarked, “I guess that counts as meeting the family, right?”

Zhixin, grave and proper, answered, “Lianfeng and Rose aren’t related by blood, so technically, it doesn’t count.”

Ge Xiaolun shot her a speechless look, then walked over to throw an arm around Yunyang’s neck. “Not bad, brother, already meeting the family.”

“Jealous? You’ve got another thousand years to wait,” Yunyang teased, struggling a bit as Ge Xiaolun squeezed him too tightly.

“Damn it,” Ge Xiaolun groaned, wounded.

“Alright, let’s go,” Zhixin said as the two others approached.

With the coordinates already set, the three stepped through the wormhole, arriving at the location of the Triangles near Proxima.

In the vast, dark emptiness of deep space floated a pitch-black spaceship, resembling a giant whale capable of surviving in the void. This was the Triangles’ deep-space vessel.

The three exchanged glances; Yunyang and Ge Xiaolun each took one of Zhixin’s arms and flew toward the ship.

Inside, the vessel was damp and shadowy, with the sound of dripping water echoing faintly. Looking up, they saw formations like stalactites, as if inside an underground cavern. The ground, however, was smooth as glass, with ripple-like patterns beneath their feet.

Yet the further they went, the fainter those patterns became, until they reached the very edge. Beyond lay pure darkness; they couldn’t tell if there was any path left, or whether it would even support their weight.

Ge Xiaolun crouched down, tapped the darkness with his finger—a crisp sound echoed. He stood, nodded, and signaled that it was safe.

Yunyang tried stepping forward and, feeling solid ground, nodded as well. They pressed on.

Soon, the three arrived at the end of the cavern, where a hole in the wall revealed a Triangle with three round holes on its face, emitting a rumbling, almost-roaring sound.

Yunyang pointed at the Triangle and said to Zhixin and Ge Xiaolun, “It looks like the one I saw before, but it’s not giving off black smoke.”

“Maybe the ones without smoke taste better,” Ge Xiaolun whispered.

“Probably,” Yunyang agreed wholeheartedly.

At that moment, Zhixin glanced around and said, “I know about this—they don’t provide chairs, since they don’t need them. Xiaolun?”

Ge Xiaolun caught on immediately, conjuring three chairs for them.

Zhixin sat in the center, flanked by Yunyang and Ge Xiaolun—a formation meant to protect her, as her gene engine was damaged and she was now the weakest of the three.

Aboard Heavenly Blade Seven, Old Huang, Raina, Lianfeng, and Rose watched a projection on the table—a live feed of the trio’s actions aboard the Triangles’ ship.

Old Huang watched the screen and said sternly, “If the other side makes any hostile moves, be ready to withdraw from the front lines at once.”

Lianfeng nodded in acknowledgment.

Rose, meanwhile, watched the image with worry in her eyes—more precisely, she watched a certain someone. Even though Yunyang claimed the Triangles were easy to handle, anyone could pull a trigger and kill an adult; who could say what would happen?

Only Raina sat calmly, watching with mild curiosity about the Triangle—after all, she didn’t believe a mere fish could do anything to the three of them.

Even if it had gained intelligence, at the end of the day, it was still a fish.
