Chapter Sixty-Nine: Telepathy
Chapter Sixty-Nine: Telepathy
Suddenly remembering something, Zhao Xin leaned toward Yun Yang and said, “Yang, no—Yang Bro, when will you take me to Angel City?”
Just thinking about how Ge Xiaolun, that loser, had already been to Angel City, yet he, descendant of Zhao Yun, hadn’t gone, made him feel uneasy. No matter what, he couldn't be inferior to Ge Xiaolun, even if he was only a vice-captain. But Ge Xiaolun hadn’t become the main god of the galaxy yet, so technically he wasn’t a vice-captain, but he couldn’t let his spirit falter.
“What do you want to do in Angel City? Isn’t one Burning Heart enough for you to cuddle?” Yun Yang glanced sideways at Zhao Xin’s gleaming expression. Of course, he didn’t know what Zhao Xin was thinking and just assumed he wanted to go to Angel City to check out the girls.
“Exactly. Next time, you should take me, Changcheng No. 1. Be careful, or I’ll go report you to your sister-in-law!” Liu Chuang felt he should be more competitive than Zhao Xin. After all, Zhao Xin already had a wife, while he was still single.
Qilin first shot a look at Zhao Xin as if he were a scoundrel, then whispered to Liu Chuang, “Chuang, I’m best friends with Weilan. If she goes, it’ll be easier for you.”
“…” Liu Chuang, who was about to say something, fell silent, looking at Qilin with pleading puppy eyes.
“Hmph, looking at me won’t help. If you dare to go, just wait for Sister Weilan to beat you up when you get back.” Qilin snorted softly, refusing to soften, turning her head aside.
Though Qilin spoke lightly, her words thundered in Liu Chuang’s ears. He dared not mention Angel City again.
“Chuang, although I’d love to take you with me, I think you probably don’t need to go right now, do you?” Yun Yang patted Liu Chuang’s shoulder, speaking in a tone that said he wanted to help but couldn’t.
“No need, no need. Angel City? Never heard of it.” Liu Chuang waved his hands, insisting he really didn’t want to go.
“Yang Bro, I—I do want to go!” Rui Mengmeng, hearing the conversation, grew interested in Angel City and eagerly raised her hand.
“Alright, since Mengmeng wants to go, I’ll take you next time.” Yun Yang had always liked Rui Mengmeng since watching Super Seminary.
“Awesome, I’m going to travel off-planet!” Rui Mengmeng leaped up, flashing a victory sign.
Wei Lan and Qilin were also tempted by the idea of an interstellar trip, but as the thoughtful big sister of the Super Warriors, Qilin shifted the topic. “Mengmeng, let’s wait until we’ve dealt with the gluttons. Then we’ll all go together.”
“Mm-hmm, I’ll listen to Sister Qilin.” Rui Mengmeng trusted Qilin deeply and agreed without hesitation.
“I want to go too!” Li Feifei, who had been quiet all along, quickly spoke up.
The three girls fixed their beautiful eyes on Yun Yang, full of hope.
Yun Yang had no reason to refuse, agreeing heartily. With beauties accompanying him, what could be better? Liu Chuang and Zhao Xin’s jealous red eyes were proof enough.
“Chuang, when I bring Burning Heart home to visit, I’ll definitely take you along.” Zhao Xin slung his arm around Liu Chuang’s neck, speaking earnestly.
Liu Chuang looked at Zhao Xin with sincere affection. “Brother, you’re the best.”
Watching the bromance, Qilin cleared her throat. “I need to find Sister Weilan soon. Haven’t seen her in a while, I miss her.”
Liu Chuang’s expression changed, and he pushed Zhao Xin away with righteous indignation. “Xin Bro, I appreciate your kindness, but what’s the point of taking me home to your in-laws? Forget it.”
Zhao Xin, pushed aside, felt betrayed and said with a look of utter despair, “Brotherhood’s over.”
Just then, Ge Xiaolun arrived, seeing everyone gathered together. He’d gotten close, but no one noticed.
Hearing Zhao Xin talk about brotherhood being over, Ge Xiaolun, who considered Zhao Xin a brother, spoke up, “It’s fine, Xin Bro, you still have me. We’ll be brothers for life.”
Everyone turned to look at Ge Xiaolun. Zhao Xin, at the front, opened his arms, offering comfort.
Seeing Ge Xiaolun aiming for a bear hug, Zhao Xin dodged with a look of distaste. “You’re not my brother if you’ve been to Angel City. Go away.”
“What? That’s not brotherhood anymore?” Ge Xiaolun, undeterred, looked incredulous.
“Right. Anyone who’s been to Angel City isn’t a brother. Chuang, don’t you agree?” Zhao Xin replied as if it were obvious.
Liu Chuang thought about it; he’d probably never get to Angel City, so he answered, “Absolutely. Those who’ve been to Angel City are all traitors, not brothers.”
Before Ge Xiaolun could retort, Yun Yang, face darkening, interjected, “Can you not launch blanket attacks? Feels like every word targets me.”
In just a few sentences, he’d been excluded from the group. No wonder his face was dark.
While the group chatted, Leina had already begun charging the Mangdang Mountain. She connected directly to the sun, using her gene engine to gather all the solar energy on Earth and channel it into the Mangdang Mountain’s charging unit.
A blinding golden beam shot skyward, piercing the atmosphere and forming a sphere of light in outer space.
From a dark energy perspective, one could see all stellar energy near Earth being drawn to this sphere, then transferred via the beam to a tower-like receiver.
The consequence: all sunlight over Earth vanished, and what was once bright daylight became something like midnight.
It wasn’t pitch-black, but there was no moon, and normal work became nearly impossible.
At that moment, countless people looked up, wondering what had happened to the sun—had someone blown it up?
Some saw it as divine punishment, heralding greater disaster, and sought God’s protection, especially in Europe, now under Northern Oath’s armed control.
These people already believed in gods, and this event led more to convert to the Demon Queen Morgana, worshipping freedom and depravity, hoping for salvation in the coming calamity.
If the Chinese authorities knew about this, they’d probably cough up blood in rage. All this effort against alien invaders only ended up benefiting demons. A disaster out of nowhere! Morgana, queen of the demon civilization, was still an invader, and this indirectly strengthened the enemy. How could that not be vexing?
Meanwhile, things were calmer in China. Everyone knew their homeland was guarded by soldiers, and some even by Super Warriors. Confident that someone would block any alien plot, they felt no anxiety.
Some parents taught their children about the “Heavenly Dog Eating the Sun,” calling it a once-in-a-millennium spectacle that could make wishes come true.
Many children made wishes, but Leina, a goddess learning to harness stellar energy, couldn’t hear their prayers.
Naturally, she couldn’t grant their wishes, and soon the kids were crying and fussing, leaving their parents to deal with the headache. But that’s another story.
At that moment, a broadcast sounded in the Black Great Wall base, explaining the phenomenon and its effects on Earth.
The conclusion was that there would be no impact, reassuring staff to continue their work.
Burning Heart arrived at the Mangdang Mountain, as if telepathically drawn. Amid everyone’s puzzled looks, Zhao Xin dashed to the boarding gate to greet her.
After Zhao Xin brought Burning Heart over, the group exchanged glances.
Yun Yang felt this was true love—without any contact, Zhao Xin somehow knew his wife was arriving. It was almost unscientific.
Everyone’s thoughts were similar; the girls looked at Burning Heart with envy.
Burning Heart, feeling everyone’s gaze, blushed. Her hand was still held by Zhao Xin, and she felt shy with so many watching.
She tried to pull her hand back, but Zhao Xin was prepared, knowing how she’d react and holding on a bit tighter.
Unable to free herself, Burning Heart relaxed, feeling the warmth from her beloved’s hand, and greeted everyone confidently. “I’m here this time to assist Mangdang Mountain’s operations, acting as liaison with Heavenly Blade.”
The combat personnel couldn’t add much, so they let Burning Heart go directly to talk with Lian Feng, the commander.
Once Burning Heart left, Yun Yang elbowed Zhao Xin, teasing, “Didn’t expect it—you really are a good husband. Almost telepathic! True love.”
Ge Xiaolun and Liu Chuang chimed in, “Never would’ve guessed.” “Didn’t see that coming.”
Zhao Xin chuckled, as if it were obvious. “That’s nothing. Xin Bro knows what every gesture from Burning Heart means. No need to make a fuss.”
The girls were even more envious—such a loving partner was pure happiness.
Each began to imagine their own future companion, wondering if they’d be so lucky.
Though they teased, the boys deeply admired and envied Zhao Xin. The three honestly admitted, they couldn’t achieve what Zhao Xin did.
Otherwise, Yun Yang wouldn’t still be searching for Rose, and Ge Xiaolun would only be able to pine from afar.
Though Ge Xiaolun had given up on Rose, he still had Angel Yan. Yun Yang had brought Yan for him, but a thousand years! For a young man of barely twenty, that was a horizon far beyond sight.
