Chapter 68: The Mangdang Mountain号
Chapter Sixty-Eight: The Mangdang Mountain
Following Ge Xiaolun into the Black Great Wall base, the first thing that caught the eye was a colossal black spaceship.
“This is the Mangdang Mountain, as Commander Lianfeng mentioned. Our very own Earth ship.”
Seeing Yunyang staring, Ge Xiaolun took the opportunity to introduce it.
“There's just something different about having our own. It's truly impressive.” Yunyang wasn’t exaggerating. To him, this was true grandeur. Tianblade was beautiful, but this was a different kind of awe.
Just then, Liu Chuang came running, calling their names.
“Xiaolun, Yangzi, hurry up! Everyone's waiting for you two.”
On hearing Liu Chuang’s shout, the two quickened their pace, brushing past him. Liu Chuang stood there, ignored, muttering,
“Those rascals…”
As they approached, the Mangdang Mountain loomed even larger, its dark armor exuding an inexplicable sense of security, the menacing pipes radiating a chilling cold.
At this moment, Ge Xiaolun spoke with feeling.
“A nation is always a nation.”
“And your uncle is always your uncle.” Liu Chuang chimed in, surprisingly apt for the moment.
Qi Lin, following behind, stifled a giggle.
Yunyang, right beside her, tapped her helmet and said,
“Idiot, this isn’t a battlefield—why wear a helmet?”
Qi Lin, startled by the tap, quickly put away her helmet, turning away from Yunyang.
“What’s with you?” Yunyang, utterly confused, asked.
All he got in return was a soft huff.
By now, the people ahead were almost inside the Mangdang Mountain. Without time to ask further, Yunyang grabbed Qi Lin's hand and hurried after them.
Pulled along by Yunyang, Qi Lin had no choice but to follow; her physical strength was no match for his.
Once inside, Yunyang let go, and Qi Lin rubbed her wrist, complaining,
“Why so rough? I’m not as strong as you guys, you know.”
Yunyang’s eyes lit up at her words, deciding to tease her.
“So, I’m stronger than you?” His tone was oddly deliberate.
“Of course!” Qi Lin retorted, feeling this was a silly question.
“The weak can't resist the strong. That means you, me—understand?” Yunyang stared at Qi Lin as he spoke.
“You… what do you mean by that?” Qi Lin became flustered. Him grabbing her and saying such things—she didn’t dare imagine the rest.
Seeing Qi Lin’s cheeks flush ever deeper, Yunyang sensed trouble brewing, though he hadn’t done much.
Sure enough, as steam seemed ready to rise from her head, Qi Lin stomped on Yunyang’s foot and fled.
Yunyang's face turned green from the stomp. He was wearing black armor, but only sports shoes on his feet. Qi Lin, meanwhile, had full black armor and metal-soled heels—the impact was unforgettable.
“We must complete all preparations within the next three hours. The Gluttons won’t give us much time; we must be ready early.” Lianfeng, leading the group, spoke calmly.
She paused, her voice resolute: “I hope Earth's first space combat can give our people the best answer.”
With that, she halted, turning to Ge Xiaolun.
“Xiaolun, you keep coordinating with the communications team.”
After Ge Xiaolun accepted his task, she turned to Reina.
“Reina, come with me.”
“Alright.”
Seeing Reina agree, Lianfeng looked at the remaining idle members.
“You can look around for now. Just don’t disturb the staff.”
Without waiting for their reply, she led Reina down the corridor.
Lianfeng and Reina made their way to the heart of the Mangdang Mountain—the stellar energy engine room. Soon, this would be the stage for Reina, the light of the sun.
Reina knew why Lianfeng had called her. She quietly activated her genetic engine, linking to the sun. A faint golden glow emanated from her chest.
“I know it’s not easy for you. Without you, this thing wouldn’t run.” Lianfeng glanced at the golden light on Reina’s chest, her tone tinged with irony.
“Yes, such a massive airborne fortress can't ascend without power stronger than nuclear energy.” As a main god, Reina’s knowledge was vast. She easily deduced the Mangdang Mountain’s energy needs and spoke.
Lianfeng nodded slightly. “This is part of the Sunlight Technology. I hope you can fully charge the Mangdang Mountain within an hour, then push it into space. That way, it can directly absorb stellar energy.”
“That’s doable. The Gluttons captured me before, ran experiments, so I don’t mind unleashing my full power on Earth to settle my score.”
Reina turned to Lianfeng, continuing,
“But even if I push it into orbit, Earth’s current technology isn’t ready for a battle of the ages against the Gluttons in space. Are you sure you want to take this risk?”
Though Reina’s concerns were grave, Lianfeng had orders from above and replied without hesitation,
“We have support from Tianblade. As far as I know, Tianblade is the highest-level combat celestial body in the known universe.”
Her meaning was clear. Reina said no more and moved to the console, beginning the transfer of stellar energy to charge the Mangdang Mountain.
Meanwhile, those left outside weren’t idle. Yunyang gathered the group and, with a smug grin, showed off his flying sword.
“Impressive, isn’t it? From now on, call me Grandmaster Yun. The sword immortal is here!”
Liu Chuang ignored Yunyang’s sword immortal talk, but noticed Yunyang's limp as he walked, asking with concern,
“Yangzi, what’s with the limp? Sprained your ankle?”
Qi Lin, behind Rui Mengmeng, blushed but said nothing, her gaze fixed on Yunyang.
“I… yes, just a sprain. Pretty embarrassing, huh?” Yunyang, under Qi Lin’s glare, knew not to say anything else and played along.
“No big deal. We heal fast—super soldiers and all.” Hearing Yunyang’s explanation, the group relaxed. For super soldiers, a sprain was barely a scratch.
Qi Lin, seeing Yunyang hadn’t revealed anything, shot him a look that said, “You’re sensible,” then turned her attention to the sword floating above his palm.
Yunyang, relieved, noticed Qi Lin’s interest and raised his hand, making it easier for everyone to see.
“It really floats!” Rui Mengmeng exclaimed, running her fingers above and below the sword, finding nothing connecting it.
He Weilan’s eyes sparkled. As a Chinese, she was genuinely moved and wanted to learn.
“Yangzi, can you teach me? I really want to learn.” She tidied her hair, her eyes bright.
“Well, it’s controlled with dark energy.” Yunyang, a bit helpless, told the truth.
“Dark energy can do that?!” Hearing this, those previously uninterested now stared in amazement, speaking in unison.
“Hold on—special materials are needed to make it fly.” Seeing their misunderstanding, Yunyang quickly explained.
“What materials? Tell us!” Li Feifei didn’t react much but urged Yunyang to reveal the special materials.
The other four nodded eagerly.
Zhao Xin was the least enthusiastic, already holding a flying weapon. His ancestor was Zhao Yun—no need for a white horse, but the silver spear was his destiny.
“Pure dark Silvershade is all it takes, but that’s a forbidden substance in the known universe.”
Seeing their curiosity, Yunyang just told them. He’d meant to show off anyway, and their interest was flattering.
To discourage any reckless ideas, Yunyang emphasized its forbidden status.
“Bro, if that dark Silvershade is forbidden, how did you get yours?” Liu Chuang asked the question everyone wanted answered.
“I struggled like hell to get it…” Yunyang launched into the story of how he defeated Sumali and claimed the Silver Blade dagger, spinning his stealthy ambush into a tale of a three-hundred-round duel, only killing Sumali in the end while wounded.
The group listened, stunned. Zhao Xin thought, “Is Yangzi really that formidable? Who knew?”
Qi Lin piped up, “You say Sumali was all that powerful—who was he?”
“You’ve hit the mark. Sumali was a male angel—or, as angels call them, scum. He claimed to be Hua Ye's chief commander, a warrior of the Celestial Palace.”
Yunyang explained Sumali’s background, wearing a look of “see how awesome I am.”
“So angels have males? I thought they were all girls.” Liu Chuang was suddenly enlightened.
“Nope. My wife told me, males aren’t called angels—they’re scum, exiled by Queen Keisha. In Heaven City, males are rare.” Zhao Xin explained to Liu Chuang, his expression full of longing, as if he dreamed of visiting Heaven City. One wondered if Zhixin would beat him for it.
