Chapter Sixty-One: Plastic Brotherhood

Due to the arrival of Heavenly Blade Seven, after negotiations with the angels, the Huaxia military decided to station forces on the Heavenly Blade. Moreover, since Heavenly Blade Seven was a personal gift from Queen Yan of the Angels to Ge Xiaolun, Ge Xiaolun was promptly promoted to a senior officer. Because Yun Yang returned alongside Heavenly Blade Seven, the Central Command decided to award him the rank of Second Lieutenant as well.

Of course, neither of the parties involved knew about any of this yet. The two of them were still in the midst of a heated shouting match inside the house.

“Since you’re ladies, why don’t you go first?” Zhao Xin, watching the two groups brandishing their weapons but not making a move, thought chivalry should prevail and let the women take the lead.

“You’re fewer in number, why don’t you go first?” Lena’s eyes sparkled as she decided to see who would make the first move, so she’d have an excuse to beat them senseless.

Ge Xiaolun nudged Yun Yang with his foot and muttered, “Why don’t we just retreat? They outnumber us.”

“Xiaolun, what are you saying? Is Lena afraid to go first?” Yun Yang shouted this so loudly that Lena on the other side couldn’t possibly miss it.

“Xiaolun, come here. Let’s have a chat.” Hearing this, Ge Xiaolun stiffly turned his head and looked at Lena, his voice raspy. “Sister Na, do you believe what he says?”

“It doesn’t matter whether I believe it or not. Today, I just want to teach you a lesson.” A sly curve tugged at Lena’s lips as she spoke with a smile.

Ge Xiaolun’s face turned sour. He glanced at Yun Yang beside him and quietly took a step back. Yun Yang, thinking Ge Xiaolun was just scared of Lena, wanted to encourage him and turned his head—only to see Ge Xiaolun swiftly raise his long leg and, before Yun Yang could react, deliver a solid kick to his backside.

Thus, Yun Yang was sent flying right into the midst of the girls. All he could do was force an awkward smile and say, “Would you believe me if I said I was kicked over here?”

Ignoring his words, Lena grabbed Yun Yang with a wicked grin that sent chills down his spine. At the rallying cry of “Get him!” he was pummeled by a flurry of dainty fists. Only he was beaten; the other three so-called plastic brothers didn’t budge, even watching the show with interest.

Seeing Yun Yang pinned to the ground, Liu Chuang remarked boisterously, “Why am I feeling a bit envious?”

Zhao Xin stroked his chin and added, “Me too, actually.”

Now Ge Xiaolun started to regret pushing Yun Yang forward; maybe he should have gone himself.

With Yun Yang subdued, Lena pulled Qilin over, for Qilin, not having the others’ physical prowess, hadn’t joined in and would have been at risk of friendly fire.

“Qilin, how should we deal with this lecher?” Lena asked.

“Me?” Qilin, brought forward, was puzzled. Why ask her?

“Because he took advantage of you,” Lena declared righteously.

Qilin looked at the three pinning Yun Yang down, her confusion plain.

The three, under her gaze, nodded furiously, signaling that she’d been wronged and mustn’t let him off.

“But I’ve been standing here the whole time. How could he possibly have taken advantage of me?” Qilin was even more baffled, thinking Yun Yang couldn’t have gotten anywhere near her.

“Then your goddess will reluctantly help you recall.” With that, Lena opened a virtual screen, displaying an image of the two with arms slung around each other, faces touching.

Qilin’s face instantly flushed red to her ears, while Yun Yang was dazed—how could he not remember such a good thing? Did he take a beating for nothing today?

“What the heck happened?” Ge Xiaolun said enviously.

“Ahem,” Zhao Xin dared not say more.

Liu Chuang, after being glared at, held his tongue.

Qilin, who had been bashful and blushing, suddenly changed her expression, revealing a sweet smile. But Yun Yang felt no warmth at all, for Qilin had already pulled out her sniper rifle.

“Wait, this is a misunderstanding! Sis, don’t be rash, it’s innocent!” Seeing the gun aimed at his little brother, Yun Yang was practically on the verge of tears.

Just as Qilin was about to escalate the situation, a messenger suddenly arrived, stunned at the scene in the yard. Still, he delivered his orders.

“Xiongbing Company soldiers, Ge Xiaolun and Yun Yang, report to Command Headquarters.”

Leaving the house, the messenger was shaken by what he’d just witnessed—he truly pitied the brother who’d had a gun pointed at his manhood. Super soldiers really played rough.

About two hours later, Yun Yang and Ge Xiaolun emerged from the command center, pausing in unison.

“Salute to the chief!” Yun Yang stood at attention and called out to Ge Xiaolun.

“Second Lieutenant Yun, good to see you,” Ge Xiaolun replied with a solemn salute.

They both burst into laughter.

“At last, I, Ge Xiaolun, can bring honor to my ancestors. Who would’ve thought I almost deserted the first time I entered battle?” Ge Xiaolun’s tone, previously exuberant, suddenly turned somber.

The sudden shift left Yun Yang at a loss, so he could only comfort him, “But you made it through, didn’t you? True heroes are not judged by their origins.”

After bidding Ge Xiaolun farewell, Yun Yang found Qingxue and the others, noticing the angels gathered idly in a circle.

“Why aren’t you checking out the Heavenly Blade?” Yun Yang asked in confusion.

“There are still some remnants of the Gluttonous Legion outside, harassing us from time to time,” Qingxue replied helplessly.

“I heard from Azhui that the Gluttonous King has already destroyed the angel civilization fleets rushing here, so Earth might still face a fierce battle,” Angel Leng said, coming over to caution Yun Yang.

“Hero, hero, you’re finally back!” Before Yun Yang could respond, Breeze leaped out from behind Leng, calling out.

Faced with the angel who always pestered him for energy, Yun Yang figured he knew what was coming. He connected with Breeze, ready to replenish her energy.

“Huh? Why is your energy full?” After connecting, Yun Yang was surprised to find the little angel’s energy reserves at maximum. Impressive.

“Are you dense? It’s Heavenly Blade Seven—basic knowledge, really.” Qingxue covered her forehead, exasperated by Yun Yang’s ignorance.

“Well, that’s not common knowledge to me. Don’t forget, I’m not an angel.” Was this really common sense? Maybe for angels, but not for Yun Yang.

After greeting Angel Leng, he inquired about Yunyin, only to learn that her whereabouts were unknown.

“Come on, let’s go see Old Li.”

Led by Qingxue, Yun Yang arrived at a military camp on the outskirts of Northern Star, where he finally saw Old Li again. Old Li looked Yun Yang up and down. After half a year apart, he seemed unchanged, which Old Li considered a good thing.

“You rascal, you’ll have to tell me tonight where you’ve been these past six months.”

Yun Yang, whose shoulder was being enthusiastically slapped, noticed Old Li and Qingxue weren’t going inside, so he offered, “Uncle, shall we sit and chat?”

He gave a brief, somewhat edited account of his past half-year’s experiences.

“You brat, you went on a world tour for six months?” Old Li was bewildered by his story.

“Not exactly. I ended up in the Angel Civilization, took Heavenly Blade Seven to Earth, fought off the Gluttonous ambush, even wrecked one of the Gluttonous King’s mechs,” Yun Yang said, proud of his achievements. He had defeated the Gluttonous King, killed quite a few male angels, rescued four angel warriors, and—most importantly—saved the Angel King herself once.

“At that critical moment, Yan’s wound was staunched by Ruoning, black energy seeping from the wound—it looked terrible.”

His mouth dry from talking, he took a sip of water and, urged by Qingxue, continued, “There wasn’t time to run over, so I threw the Dragon Spear straight at her. It hit, and Yan and I coordinated to seriously wound Ruoning. If Yan had finished her off, Ruoning wouldn’t have escaped.”

Thinking of Ruoning’s escape, Yun Yang still felt some regret—he should have finished her off and not bothered to ask.

After recounting his experiences, he took a look around the camp with Old Li, noticing his previous enhancements hadn’t arrived. He asked about them.

It turned out that some had been destroyed on the battlefield, others had worn out and lost their effect, and most importantly, the new weapons produced by the Power of the Galaxy were so convenient they didn’t even require bullets—practically divine weapons—so everything was replaced.

Hearing this, Yun Yang had no complaints; after all, he’d seen the soldiers’ weapons for himself, and the technology was impressive. Still, the bulletless function was astonishing—were they energy-based, firing lasers?

Seeing Yun Yang’s interest, Old Li led him to the shooting range for a demonstration. “This is it—designed by the Power of the Galaxy, manufactured by Black Great Wall. No bullets needed, just the will to fight. Sometimes, I can’t tell if it’s technology or mysticism.”

“Who cares if it’s science or magic, as long as it works,” Yun Yang said nonchalantly, holding the gun.

“Exactly. Black cat or white cat, the one that catches mice is the good cat.”

After Old Li emptied a magazine, Yun Yang, itching to try, asked, “How do I use this? Teach me.”

“It’s simple. Just think ‘I want to defend my home and country’ and pull the trigger,” Old Li replied as if it were the most obvious thing.

“That simple?” Yun Yang was skeptical.

“That simple,” Old Li confirmed.

“All right, let me try.”

Raising the rifle, Yun Yang thought, I’m a Huaxia citizen, a Huaxia soldier; I want to defend my home and country.

Dada-da—sparks shot from the barrel. Watching the target sway but not fall in the wind, Yun Yang felt this weapon might not suit him. He forced a couple of awkward laughs, put the gun down, glanced around to make sure no one had seen, and finally relaxed.

Now that he was a Second Lieutenant, Yun Yang felt the weight of the title.

At that moment, a secure communication request came into Yun Yang’s private network—he had no idea who it could be.
