Chapter Fifty-Nine: What? Impossible

As they spoke, Blade Seven had already reached Earth's synchronous orbit. Moy felt it unnecessary to enter Earth's atmosphere; hovering in space conserved more energy, and replenishing stellar power incurred no losses.

Cloud Yang, who had been bantering with Ah Zhui moments before, suddenly noticed a sphere appear outside Blade's shield.

He stood up abruptly, startling Ah Zhui beside him.

"If you don't like me, that's fine. I'm going to find my girlfriend now. Goodbye." With that, he dashed to the edge of Blade's floating island, leapt, and shot toward Earth.

Watching Cloud Yang sprint to the edge and jump off, Ah Zhui was momentarily stunned, then muttered, "Serves you right, bullying me like that."

With a loud smack, Cloud Yang, full of longing for Earthly life, slammed himself against Blade Seven's spacetime shield.

He caressed the pale golden energy barrier, genuinely perplexed. Weren't shields in movies always one-way—letting things out but not in? Why didn't it work here?

In fact, Cloud Yang misunderstood. The spacetime shield could launch attacks from within, but that required calculations—figuring out where the attack would exit and adjusting the shield's properties at that location.

When the spacetime shield is impenetrable both ways, it achieves maximum stability and can absorb incoming enemy fire to replenish energy.

Normally, angels exit via the worm gate on Blade's wings, teleporting to the shield's outer edge.

Cloud Yang, without requesting permission from anyone, had simply dashed to the edge and jumped off, catching Ah Zhui—who was the only one aware—off guard. He deserved this intimate encounter with the spacetime shield.

That was why Ah Zhui remarked Cloud Yang had it coming.

Red-faced, Cloud Yang returned to the floating island, feeling utterly humiliated, especially since the angel warriors had witnessed his attempt to jump back.

Two angelic young women, despite his protests, hauled him back. Surrounded by angels covering their mouths, giggling, Cloud Yang wished for a crack in the ground to hide in.

Unfortunately, there were no cracks on Blade—only a river, and even a garden.

"God of Men, you can use the worm gate to return to Earth," Moy said with a smile after hearing the angels' report.

"Ahem, I'm from the countryside. Earth movies had me fooled—I thought it would let me out..."

The more he explained, the more awkward it became. Seeing the angels turn away, laughing aloud, Cloud Yang felt even more embarrassed.

"Microlight, Star of Luo, you two take the God of Men to the worm gate. I'll open a portal to Earth for him," Moy instructed the two warriors who had just brought Cloud Yang back.

"Yes," the two angels replied in unison, reaching for Cloud Yang's arms.

"Wait, wait, I should be able to teleport myself. Let me try," Cloud Yang dodged their jade hands and spoke urgently.

Confirming the coordinates, Cloud Yang initiated teleportation.

Irregular spatial fluctuations detected...

Energy consumption increased...

Coordinate deviation detected...

Continue jumping?

Hearing the genetic engine's auxiliary system prompt, Cloud Yang gave in and halted the teleportation, emerging from his translucent state and addressing the curious angels nearby with embarrassment.

"Your shield disrupts my coordinates. I’d better use the worm gate."

"Hahaha, God of Men, you’re hilarious." This time the angels didn't just giggle—they laughed openly in front of him.

"The worm gate is open. Go on," Moy said, smiling as she opened the portal for Cloud Yang and the two angels.

"Would you like to come with me to North Star to see your sister Leng?" Standing on Earth's soil, Cloud Yang took a deep breath of its familiar scent and asked the two angels who had followed him through the worm gate.

"Not today. We have tasks to complete," said Angel Microlight.

"Alright then, I'll head off. Goodbye." After saying farewell, Cloud Yang didn’t ask about their mission—it wasn’t his concern. He locked onto North Star and teleported.

"Right, give our regards to Sister Yunyi. Tell her to visit us on Blade," Star of Luo suddenly called out as Cloud Yang was about to finish teleporting.

"Sure..." Before he could finish, Cloud Yang vanished before their eyes. The two angels exchanged glances and soared skyward.

Materializing in the quadrangle of North Star, Cloud Yang stood bewildered, wondering which angel Yunyi was—he’d never met her. Clearly, he would need to ask Angel Leng.

Inside the house, Liu Chuang was polishing his beloved God-slaying Axe when he sensed someone had entered his yard.

Assuming another mission was coming his way, he gleefully ran out, only to see not a camouflaged communications soldier, but an unknown figure clad in black armor.

"That black armor—isn't it the new member of the Soldier Legion? Didn't someone named Karl ambush and sacrifice him?" Liu Chuang thought for a moment. The only Soldier Legion member he didn't know personally was the one who reportedly died—Cloud Yang. He asked in a thick, provincial accent.

"Eh? You're Liu Chuang. How am I dead?" Cloud Yang recognized Liu Chuang, though they'd never met—he’d watched several episodes of Soldier Legion.

"Yeah, I'm Liu Chuang. Brother, you're alive—that's great!" Seeing Cloud Yang recognize him, Liu Chuang confirmed his identity, went up, and threw an arm around Cloud Yang's shoulder.

"Hey, hey, hey, you haven’t explained how I supposedly died?" Cloud Yang felt uncomfortable under Liu Chuang’s grip, but couldn’t break free, so he asked helplessly.

"That, brother, I don’t know. You can ask Xiao Lun—he told us," Liu Chuang replied, pouring water for Cloud Yang.

"This is slander! Ge Xiao Lun is jealous and spreading rumors!" Furious at Liu Chuang's answer, Cloud Yang immediately suspected Ge Xiao Lun was undermining him.

"Come on, Brother Chuang, take me to Ge Xiao Lun. I want to confront him!"

"Brother, just for calling me 'Chuang', you've got me on your side today," Liu Chuang said, moved by Cloud Yang's address, and led him out.

Arriving at Ge Xiao Lun’s courtyard, they saw him bouncing about inside, while Zhao Xin sat bored at the table.

"Xiao Lun, Zhao Xin, look who’s here!" Liu Chuang ignored the soldiers watching them and shouted with his booming voice.

Ge Xiao Lun landed, and he and Zhao Xin turned to the door, stunned.

As Cloud Yang and Liu Chuang entered, Zhao Xin was first to react, shouting and rushing at Cloud Yang.

"Cloud Yang, Yangzi, you’re alive! Escaping from a god’s grasp—impressive!"

"Cough, cough, are you trying to silence me for good?" Cloud Yang said helplessly, clutching his chest where Zhao Xin had punched him.

"How could I? Xiao Lun, look—a man who survived a god’s hand should rival Monkey King, right?" Zhao Xin, noticing Liu Chuang's gesture, joined him in throwing arms around Cloud Yang’s neck, turning to Ge Xiao Lun.

"Wonderful, wonderful—I knew it! Soldier Legion wouldn’t fall so easily," Ge Xiao Lun finally recovered, cheered, and gave Cloud Yang a big hug.

Truthfully, Cloud Yang hadn’t expected such warmth from people he'd barely met. His mood for confrontation faded.

Once everyone settled down, Cloud Yang spoke first.

"By the way, where’s Rose? Haven’t seen her in half a year—I miss her."

At his words, the other three’s smiles vanished, their expressions suddenly somber, leaving Cloud Yang puzzled.

Zhao Xin nudged Ge Xiao Lun: "Xiao Lun, Rose sent you a message. Tell him."

"It’s like this. Rose said she finished learning about her abilities and, to defend the nation, joined Morgana’s demon camp," Ge Xiao Lun said, omitting the part about avenging Cloud Yang.

"What? Impossible!" Cloud Yang's tone was harsh and his gaze dark as he stared at Ge Xiao Lun.

As a traveler who’d watched some Super Seminary—even if only the Black Armor and a few Soldier Legion episodes—Cloud Yang didn’t believe Rose would betray her country.

This was why he’d trusted her immediately, even showing her his abilities. Partly to connect with the authorities, but mostly out of admiration for her patriotism.

He couldn’t believe Rose had followed Morgana so readily. Even if she claimed it was for the nation’s sake, it felt no different from treason.

Hence his harsh tone.

"Hey, hey, brother, don’t get worked up." Seeing Cloud Yang rise, Liu Chuang quickly pressed him back into his chair.

"Rose just went to expand her knowledge—she never said she wouldn’t return. Don’t get upset," Zhao Xin chimed in to comfort him.

"Damn it, where’s Demon One? I need to find Rose and get answers," Cloud Yang demanded angrily, his mind awash with thoughts.

"We really don’t know. If we did, we’d have gone already," the three exchanged glances, finally Ge Xiao Lun spoke.

"Alright, alright, Cloud Yang’s back—that’s good news. Earth’s power has grown again. That’s something to celebrate, right?" Zhao Xin, sensing the atmosphere souring, signaled Liu Chuang.

Liu Chuang instantly caught on, glanced at the nearby beer bottles, and said, "Right, we need to discuss this slowly. Today, our brother’s returned—we celebrate with drinks. The demon issue can wait till tomorrow."

"Come on, let’s drink. I’ll fetch some booze. Today, none of Soldier Legion leaves sober!" Zhao Xin said, dragging Cloud Yang out.

Ge Xiao Lun hurried to call Reina, Qi Lin, Rui Mengmeng, He Weilan, Li Feifei, and others.
