Chapter 57: A Good Deed Done

Watching the male angel who had suddenly found his courage, Yunyang couldn’t help but voice the thought that had been stuck in his mind.

“Wait a minute, are you only happy when your teammates die?”

Hearing this, the male angel cursed inwardly. Did he enjoy watching his comrades fall? Wasn’t it just that this kid was too unpredictable?

He had no intention of answering Yunyang. Raising his sword again, he charged forward. But this time, Yunyang didn’t continue to meet him in close combat; instead, he powered his legs and widened the distance between them.

“What’s wrong? Chickened out? Too late!” The male angel, seeing Yunyang retreat, roared angrily, his frustration palpable.

Facing the relentless assault, Yunyang reversed his grip, and the Dragon Lance, fresh from its last kill, appeared in his hand.

“Brother, isn’t it enough? Do you really want to turn this around?”

Having already judged that the male angel’s end was near, Yunyang hurled the Dragon Lance and dashed straight toward a female angel warrior who had just been struck down.

Seeing a stream of light shooting towards him, the male angel instinctively dodged. Then, recalling how his comrade had died, he quickly turned to block.

Sure enough, the Dragon Lance, having missed, came whistling back. He had no choice but to knock it aside with his sword.

With a glance at Yunyang retreating into the distance, the male angel spat in irritation and focused all his attention on fending off this strange weapon.

While Yunyang was speaking with the male angel, he’d caught sight of a female angel who had just lost her weapon after a three-hit combo. With a few quick leaps, he landed beside the scoundrel pressing her down and slashed the villain’s sword in two just as it descended towards her neck.

The male angel, his weapon broken, instinctively shot into the sky, narrowly avoiding death. But that didn’t matter—freed from restraint, the female angel flexed her wings and rammed the male angel into a nearby boulder. Yunyang seized the opportunity, closing in and slashing the man in two at the chest.

The female angel frowned as she looked at Yunyang, who was flicking blood from his sword. “There’s no need to be so brutal. This is too cruel.”

Yunyang spread his hands helplessly. “It’s the sword, really—it’s too sharp. Besides, a little blood on the battlefield is what keeps the enemy in check, isn’t it?”

His words sounded reasonable enough. The female angel picked up her fallen Godslayer Spear and soared back into the fray above.

By then, the Dragon Lance had returned to Yunyang’s hand after completing its mission. In just this short while, Yunyang noticed that only seven male angels remained in the sky—he himself had slain four out of fifteen, thanks largely to his superior weapon.

Seeing that he alone had outdone four of the angels in the air, Yunyang got cocky again, shouting toward the aerial combatants, “Hey, some of you up there, come down and fight me!”

A minute passed. The battle continued as before; no one bothered to acknowledge him, leaving Yunyang a bit embarrassed.

This wouldn’t do. Noting that another male angel had fallen, Yunyang decided to steal the kill. The Dragon Lance in his hand turned once more into a voracious serpent, and he hurled it at a particularly formidable-looking opponent.

With Yunyang’s support, the female angels’ combat prowess had increased considerably. Despite being outnumbered, they were now pressing the male angels back.

The male angel struck by Yunyang’s attack had been too focused on his own adversary to notice the Dragon Lance. One blow was all it took; with deep reluctance, he departed this beautiful world.

Now only six remained. Their squad leader, his courage flagging, opened a communication channel to Ruoning. “Ruoning, let’s retreat. We can’t win this.”

“No. Today, we must take down that little vixen Yan.” Ruoning, dodging Yan’s deadly lightning, replied with icy resolve.

Hearing Ruoning still had the mind to issue orders while being forced on the defensive, Yan couldn’t help but feel slighted. She soared upward, her voice cold and commanding.

“I am the Angel King, Yan! Master of the Sacred Knowledge Vault! You go too far!”

Before she could finish, Yunyang saw thunderclouds churning in the sky—bolts of lightning as thick as arms, brimming with violent energy, lanced toward the remaining male angels locked in combat.

A dense web of lightning instantly reduced the six to ashes. Yunyang watched the female angels caught in the electric storm, worried they might be hit as well.

But his concern was unnecessary. Yan, in command of the Sacred Knowledge Vault, demonstrated perfect control—not a single bolt came near the airborne female angels.

With the enemy vanquished, the female angels prepared to assist their queen. Yunyang quickly shouted, “Don’t go over there! That’s not a fight you can join—you’ll just get yourselves killed!”

His warning was loud, but the female warriors merely glanced at him, then continued toward Yan.

Yan, noticing the situation and hearing Yunyang’s words, considered for a moment and agreed. She ordered, “Stay where you are. Watch as your queen delivers judgment upon evil.”

Ruoning sneered, “So, a difference in ideals makes one evil? It seems Queen Kaisa’s justice has truly faded.”

As she spoke, Ruoning was struck by one of Yan’s lightning bolts. Electric arcs danced across her body, but after gauging the power, she sneered, “Mere lightning.”

Before she could act further, a bloodied blade thrust from her wound. She didn’t hesitate—immediately opening a wormhole and escaping.

Once outside Yan’s attack range, Ruoning clutched her wound, disbelief in her eyes. “You actually calculated Silver Blade inside my wound.”

That was a signature move of Kaisa’s Divine Domain—Ruoning hadn’t expected Yan to have inherited even Kaisa’s arsenal.

Steeling her heart, Ruoning used a wormhole to reappear behind Yan, her weapon stabbing viciously into Yan’s lower back, the tip emerging from her abdomen.

Yunyang watched, instinctively clutching his own stomach at the sight—it looked painful. The nearby angel warriors, seeing their queen wounded by a sneak attack, grew restless, but Yunyang quickly stepped in to hold them back.

“You, like Morgana, rely on wormhole tactics for combat. Your third-generation divine body is different from our new generation—you’re easier to analyze, and can enter and exit wormholes in an instant. But that also means your body is more susceptible to destruction and disassembly.”

Yan, despite the ambush, was not angry—she calmly analyzed Ruoning’s physical data.

Yunyang listened thoughtfully, feeling he’d learned something new. Kaisa had taught him only the basics, but Yan’s words offered practical battlefield insights.

As Yunyang pondered how to deal with such an enemy in the future, a thunderous explosion rang out.

Yan, moments ago so godlike, was now pinned to a massive stone by one of Ruoning’s arrows—the blast was the energy detonation from the arrow anchoring Yan.

Before the female angels could react, Ruoning appeared before Yan, yanked the arrow out, and pressed her hand to Yan’s wound, silently activating her supergene disassembly ability.

Struck and dazed, Yan could only rasp in pain as her supergenes began to unravel. “You’re actually using your wormhole disassembly to break down my supergenes…”

“Stop! She’s our Earthling bride!” Yunyang, sprinting from a distance, hurled his Dragon Lance and shouted.

Ruoning didn’t hear him—she was focused entirely on disassembling Yan’s supergenes, an arduous task.

The Dragon Lance tore through the air, burying itself deep in Ruoning’s back. But before Yunyang could celebrate, the lance vanished after penetrating less than three centimeters.

As Yunyang reeled in confusion, Ruoning spun around, her expression fierce. “You again, ruining my—”

Before she could finish, Yan, now able to move, seized Ruoning by the throat. Electric light flared from her palm, disintegrating Ruoning’s body—it was clear she meant to finish her off.

Yunyang and the angel warriors arrived just then. Yunyang looked on in surprise, the others full of awe.

Watching Ruoning’s body thrown to the ground, Yunyang quietly drew his king’s sword. “Should I finish her off? Want me to?”

“Yes, go ahead,” Yan replied, pressing her hand to her wounded abdomen.

Lying on the ground, Ruoning had used a wormhole to divert most of the lightning, so though gravely injured, she was still conscious. She was feigning weakness, hoping to escape at the opportune moment.

Hearing Yunyang offer to finish her off, she knew the charade was up. In a flash, she opened a wormhole, flew into the air, and shouted venomously, “If not for this little vixen, Yan, you’d be dead! And you—twice you’ve ruined my plans. Don’t let me catch you next time!”

She shot Yunyang a poisonous glare, then disappeared into a wormhole, destination unknown.

“Thank you for saving me. From now on, the Angelic Civilization will be your backing,” Yan said to Yunyang with heartfelt gratitude once Ruoning was gone.

The young angels behind her placed their hands on their hearts and chorused, “Thank you, Male God, for saving the Queen!”

“It’s only right,” Yunyang replied, scratching his head awkwardly under such formal gratitude. “After all, you’re here to help Earth—I’m just doing what I should.”

On Melos, in a castle hidden within the forest, two beautiful angels were playing with their tea sets.

The silver-haired angel spoke slowly, “A tiny planet like Earth, and yet it almost saw the downfall of two Angel Kings. Truly, a chessboard for the gods.”

“Yan won’t die,” replied the golden-haired angel across from her. “She just hasn’t fully mastered the Sacred Body yet. Once she adapts, her strength will soar.”
