Chapter Thirty-Seven: Yun Lan's Father Raises the Banner
Chapter Thirty-Seven: Yun*Lan's Father*Yang
Upon hearing that Yunyang, an elder angel, seemed less than trustworthy, and combining this with her own dissatisfaction toward Queen Yan, Qingxue couldn't help but feel he truly wasn't a good person. She quietly replied to Yunyang with a soft "mm."
Though Qingxue's voice was low, in such close quarters Ruoning still caught it. She shot Qingxue a cold glance before turning to Yunyang.
"Little one, mind your words—especially when facing gods more powerful than yourself."
Yunyang, unfazed by Ruoning's threat, merely recalled the tense standoff between Ruoning and several angels moments ago, which he had witnessed when he arrived. Coupled with her displeasure at Yan ascending to the throne, and his own understanding of these angels, he knew today's conflict would not resolve peacefully.
Seeing Yunyang decline to respond, Ruoning no longer pressed the matter and turned to Angel Leng.
"There are outsiders present, so let's keep this brief. I believe Queen Keisha made a mistake by letting Yan govern the Heavenly City. I intend to correct it."
"So you wish to be the ruler? That's not permitted, no such precedent," Angel Leng replied.
"To have Hua Ye take charge of the Heavenly City again—that's my dream as your teacher. Do you agree?" Ruoning asked, her tone solemn.
"No, I disagree. No matter who you are, I will not allow you to question Queen Keisha's decisions," Angel Yitian interjected, pointing at Ruoning.
Ruoning's eyes flashed with ferocity; she seized Yitian by the throat and lifted her off the ground.
Seeing Yitian subdued, Yunyang, who had been on alert, sprang into action. He drew his spear and, with a swift movement, appeared at Ruoning's side, aiming the tip at her forearm.
Ruoning, a seasoned angel, regarded such an attack as child's play. She tossed Yitian to the ground, then jumped through a wormhole, instantly creating distance between herself and Yunyang.
Though Yunyang's attack had been swift, she was unconcerned. In Ruoning's eyes, Yunyang was but a mere child—not worth her anger.
At this moment, Angel Leng laughed and said, "Teacher, which planet taught you such tactics? Fighting for power and profit—how primitive a civilization must be to resort to this."
"This isn't a power struggle; we seek to establish a civilization more advanced than the angels," Ruoning retorted.
"Queen Keisha never said so, nor did Yan. I can't abandon my lifelong faith based on the words of a teacher who isn't the Queen of Angels, nor the King of Gods, and may not even be considered an angel anymore," Angel Leng replied, her face filled with helplessness.
"There will soon be many angels dying in this new war. Do you wish to be the first?" Ruoning threatened.
As Angel Leng signaled to the second-generation angels to retreat, Yunyang spoke.
"I don't know what this 'new order' entails, but these few have protected the Northern Star. None of them should die."
With that, Yunyang helped Yitian up and delivered her into Qingxue's arms, urging her to leave quickly.
Once the second-generation angels departed, only Yunyang, Angel Leng, and Ruoning remained. Suddenly, Ruoning shouted loudly.
"Go, bring them back!"
A shadow sped toward Qingxue and Lingxi, who were supporting Yitian.
When Yunyang glimpsed the shadow, he considered throwing his Dragon Lance, but the figure was too fast, vanishing from sight before he could react.
He cursed under his breath and ignored the shadow, instead darting behind Ruoning, attempting a preemptive strike.
But he failed—Ruoning now held a long sword, which she used to parry Yunyang's spear aimed at her back.
Taking advantage, Ruoning pressed forward, lunging at Yunyang's face, forcing him to retreat several steps to narrowly evade her strike.
As Ruoning prepared to continue, intent on finishing Yunyang, Angel Leng moved, slashing at Ruoning's sword arm.
Ruoning was compelled to abandon her attack on Yunyang's throat and turn to block Angel Leng's strike.
It must be said—Angel Leng's combat experience far exceeded Yunyang's. Ruoning, who could have easily dispatched Yunyang, found herself suppressed by Angel Leng's surprise assault.
Yunyang watched the two fighting wildly in the sky, bewildered; he couldn't fly, so he couldn't help.
After over a minute of battle, Angel Leng showed signs of fatigue. After all, Ruoning had taught her many combat techniques. Having recovered from the initial chaos of being ambushed, Ruoning gradually regained control.
Watching Ruoning slowly seize the rhythm, Yunyang grew anxious. He raised and lowered his spear repeatedly, afraid to throw it lest it hit Angel Leng—they were locked in close combat, and he couldn't guarantee the Dragon Lance would react in time.
At this moment, Yunyang suddenly remembered his quantum domain—a perfect auxiliary skill.
He acted immediately, opening his genetic permissions, tagging Angel Leng, then sat down to watch.
Angel Leng, locked in battle with Ruoning, suddenly noticed her computational speed and physical abilities had increased, giving her the sensation of reconnecting to Queen Keisha's knowledge vault. Yet this boost felt more like overclocking than authorized resource usage.
Still, the effect was similar—enhanced processing power and energy recovery.
With Yunyang's support, Angel Leng shook off her earlier fatigue, fighting ever more fiercely, even pressing Ruoning back.
Ruoning noticed the anomaly in Angel Leng, startling her. Was it possible that Yan had restored the angelic dark communications at this moment? But on second thought, it was impossible; Yan didn't have the ability to fully reconstruct Keisha's knowledge vault in such a short time.
Just then, Yunyang called out, "Leng, don't worry—I have plenty of energy, use as much as you like."
Hearing this, both Angel Leng and Ruoning understood: it was his doing. Angel Leng was delighted, while Ruoning grew angry.
Had she known this boy possessed such power, she would have risked injury to finish him earlier—now it was too late.
Though Ruoning could easily evade Angel Leng's fiery bombardments using micro-wormhole transport, she still felt the battle growing more difficult—simply put, her energy was running out.
Angel Leng had unleashed several solar bombardments herself, but with Yunyang's support, she effectively had a mana regeneration and cooldown reduction buff, plus healing and attack boosts—how could Ruoning compete?
At last, under Yunyang's amazed gaze, Ruoning, fighting Angel Leng with a trade-wounds-for-time strategy, managed to gain a moment, then vanished through a micro-wormhole.
Initially, Yunyang thought she was coming to finish off him, the supporter, and quickly stood, body taut and wary.
Angel Leng hurried to Yunyang's side, protecting him.
After waiting about five minutes, Ruoning did not reappear. Only then did they realize she had truly fled.
Yunyang and Angel Leng exchanged smiles and high-fived.
Meanwhile, as Qingxue and Lingxi flew, supporting Yitian, a sharp sound of something cutting through the air approached from behind. With years of combat experience, Lingxi shoved Qingxue and Yitian aside and used the momentum to dodge the attack herself.
Before they could steady themselves, a feminine male voice rang out—one that immediately exposed its effeminate owner.
"One of you must stay today, or all of you. Choose."
Angel Lingxi signaled Qingxue with a glance, urging her to take Yitian and flee, while she stayed behind to confront this male angel.
Clearly, Qingxue understood the look. She gazed deeply at the male angel and whispered to Lingxi, "Be careful. If you can't win, run."
Lingxi nodded to Qingxue, then faced the male angel, vigilant, already plotting her escape route.
Running was necessary—she had little energy left. Yunyang hadn't replenished their reserves before Ruoning appeared, and everyone knew what happened next; there had been no time to recover energy.
"You're quite beautiful, but unfortunately you've met me. I'm not fond of women; men suit my taste better," the effeminate angel said.
The imagery he conjured nearly made Lingxi sick—too vivid, too horrifying to imagine.
She said nothing, pointing her sword at him, wings flaring as she charged.
Unexpectedly, he reacted swiftly, sidestepping her aggressive thrust.
After a few exchanges, Lingxi made a mistake and the male angel seized the opportunity, delivering a powerful whip-kick to her abdomen.
Lingxi used the force of the kick to launch herself backward, flying away without a second glance.
Seeing the young angel attempting to flee, the male angel immediately spread his wings in pursuit.
After some time flying, Lingxi realized their speeds were nearly identical: he couldn't catch her, nor could she shake him off. An awkward predicament.
She could only seek outside help. Spotting a military camp below, Lingxi descended and called loudly, "Force of the Galaxy! Is the Force of the Galaxy here?"
She hadn't forgotten Sister Leng's instruction to find the Force of the Galaxy.
But no one in the camp answered—clearly, the Force of the Galaxy wasn't present. She soared back into the sky and sped away.
At that moment, the male angel landed behind her, glanced at the surrounding Chinese soldiers, ignored them, and flew after Lingxi.
In this way, Lingxi searched seven or eight camps, none with the Force of the Galaxy or super warriors, and her energy was nearly depleted from the high-speed flight.
Looking back at the male angel, she saw his energy was also more than half gone, but it was clear she would run out first and become the sacrificial lamb.
