Chapter Thirty: The Fierce Tide

The great mecha was the king of the Gluttonous civilization, the Devourer.

After hearing the report from this Gluttonous soldier, King Devourer paced a few steps and spoke with some stiffness.
“Ghosts and gods interfering—on Earth, a group of black-armored gods are meddling in our war between civilizations.”

Upon hearing his king’s words, the Gluttonous subordinate replied, “That is indeed the case, but we have also received support from the god Carl.”

“However, my god Carl is a great scholar, devoted to the pursuit of supreme wisdom. He has no interest in scheming with these battle gods!” The Gluttonous king Devourer was visibly enraged.

“That is unfortunate,” the subordinate could only echo his leader’s anger and dared not say more.

Across the battlefield, the Gluttonous commander of the Central Plains war zone was in a furious rage. During his joint operations with the commander of North Star, he had suffered repeated setbacks at Yunyang’s hands, losing men and resources.

Now, after barely driving back Ge Xiaolun and his team, another week had not passed before the evil god Reina arrived, blasting left and right, inflicting enormous losses and seriously blocking his path to promotion.

After venting his anger, he ordered the fleet to withdraw from the atmosphere. Yet the more he thought about it, the more furious he became—destroying a man’s future was like killing his parents. In the end, the Gluttonous command center decided to use the Fierce Tide against Luoyang.

The Fierce Tide was a Gluttonous weapon of mass destruction; basically, a single shot would obliterate a city—akin to Earth’s nuclear bomb, but far more advanced beyond earthly technology.

Meanwhile, Yunyang was scouting the way ahead with Rose and Wei Qi. Large-scale marches always risked ambushes—Old Li’s group had suffered heavy losses precisely because of such an ambush.

Though it was better than nothing, Rose still scouted the route each day to avoid unexpected dangers.

Ge Xiaolun, on his side, noticed the Gluttonous fleet retreating from the atmosphere, thinking perhaps they were afraid.

But something felt off. The Gluttonous had never shown fear before; how could they be intimidated after just a few shots from Reina?

Before Ge Xiaolun and his companions could figure it out, a crimson pillar of annihilation descended from the heavens, carrying a world-shattering energy, and struck Luoyang in an instant.

This city, already ravaged by war, was vaporized by the explosion’s heat and shockwave—buildings, roads, and the people in the underground shelters all vanished, leaving only a deep crater radiating nuclear energy.

Yunyang, laughing and chatting with Rose, suddenly sensed a tremendous energy shooting from outer space toward Earth. When he looked up, he saw a massive fireball and two rings formed by the shockwaves.

He steadied Rose’s shoulder and said, “Wait for me. I’m going to take a look.”

Yunyang could sense information from two black-armored figures nearby—Ge Xiaolun and Zhao Xin. He didn’t particularly want to meet Ge Xiaolun, since he seemed to have stolen his thunder, but this was not the time for such concerns; with nuclear weapons in play, he had to check it out.

After confirming the coordinates, Yunyang activated teleportation and appeared quietly behind Ge Xiaolun’s group.

As he arrived, he saw a crimson light pillar slowly moving across the ground, and Ge Xiaolun, wings unfurled in black, was roaring to take flight.

Yunyang called out, “Wait! Take me with you.”

Ge Xiaolun turned to see another black-armored figure. He didn’t care who it was and said, “Hold on to me, let’s go.”

Yunyang and Ge Xiaolun charged together toward the blazing pillar, racing into outer space. They saw the beam coming from a small flying device. Before they could reach it, it had finished its emission and was heading back toward the fleet.

Seeing the device trying to flee after firing, Yunyang refused to let it escape. He seized his dragon lance, hurled it with all his might, and it shot forth as a stream of light.

The flying device, completing its mission and returning, suddenly exploded into a tiny fireball, not a trace remaining, vanishing in the cold void.

Yunyang was puzzled that a device capable of such destructive force could explode into such a small fireball. But, thinking it over, he figured it had simply exhausted its energy.

Ge Xiaolun, upon reaching space, was stunned. He had just used his Insight Eye to review the Gluttonous reports.

North America’s strategic victory was imminent; 800,000 North American troops had been eliminated.

The European front was locked in fierce combat, with 300 million casualties.

North Asia forces were engaged, with three destroyers lost but 300,000 Earth military eliminated.

Three gunboats of China’s North Star had been attacked.

China’s Tianhe City had achieved a phase victory over the Monkey King.

Two angel warriors were engaged in fierce battle in southern Africa.

The 36th Legion of Wolf Star was en route to Earth.

Ge Xiaolun gazed at the Gluttonous ships anchored in the icy void, muttering, “So many.” Whether he referred to the ships or the casualties, or perhaps both, even he couldn’t say.

Faced with the dense swarm of Gluttonous ships, Ge Xiaolun felt a wave of helplessness. He turned to the black-armored warrior he brought along, realizing he didn’t recognize him.

Yunyang saw Ge Xiaolun looking his way, waved, and produced the emblem of the Soldier United from the dark dimension.

“Soldier United, Yunyang.”

Ge Xiaolun gave a bitter smile and said, “Brother, how do we fight this? So many—damn, how do we fight?” His voice was laden with despair.

Yunyang looked at the swarm of ships, equally helpless. But he tightened his grip on the Dragon Lance and said, “Let me show you how!”

Without waiting for Ge Xiaolun’s reply, he hurled his lance again at a nearby ship.

Ge Xiaolun watched the streaming light as it struck a ship, which exploded in martyrdom. The sight seemed to restore his confidence.

He patted Yunyang’s shoulder.
“Luoyang is gone, but we can’t let them get away with it. Let’s raise hell here before heading back.”

“Alright.”

Just as they reached an agreement, Ge Xiaolun, to Yunyang’s despair, dashed toward the ships, leaving Yunyang behind in space.

Doesn’t he realize I can’t fly?

After Ge Xiaolun sped away, Yunyang felt Mother Earth’s embrace pulling him gently downward. Though he was falling, his hands never paused—his dragon lance, just retrieved, was hurled again.

The two moved so swiftly that after destroying four or five Gluttonous warships, the enemy only began to react.

Swarms of attack fighters poured out from the massive cross-shaped ships, unleashing a wild bombardment against Ge Xiaolun nearby.

Ge Xiaolun endured the barrage from hundreds of fighters, thinking gloomily that if it weren’t for his Invincible Body, these little planes would have ended him.

After silently withstanding a wave of artillery, Ge Xiaolun seized an opportunity, shook his wings, swung his great sword, and destroyed three attack fighters.

Without waiting for the rest to fire, he rushed toward Yunyang, who was plummeting faster and faster. Seeing Ge Xiaolun leading a swarm of attackers his way, Yunyang’s face nearly turned green with fright.

Yunyang lacked Ge Xiaolun’s Invincible Body—if surrounded and beaten by so many fighters, he could die. He shouted, Don’t come near me! But no matter how hard he tried, not a sound came out; they were in the vacuum of space, after all.

Realizing this, Yunyang quickly marked Ge Xiaolun with a quantum field and shouted in the dark comms,
“You’ve been strengthened, hurry up and run! Don’t come over here, these fighters will kill me!”

Ge Xiaolun, hearing Yunyang, made a sharp turn, leading the fighters in a wild chase.

Yunyang, meanwhile, proved himself a beast, targeting only the large ships, focusing his attacks on engines and energy rooms—each strike blew up a ship.

Ge Xiaolun, emboldened by his enhanced power and defense, stopped fleeing, charged into the fighter swarm, and chopped down countless attackers, forcing the rest to keep their distance and fire from afar.

Yunyang enjoyed his long-range attacks, but soon the Gluttonous noticed him. A swarm of fighters rushed toward him.

Though Ge Xiaolun was currently beating back the fighters, their numbers only increased—what was once a mere black mass now darkened the sky.

Yunyang’s hands never stopped, but he began contacting Ge Xiaolun through dark comms.

“Brother, we should retreat—the fighters are swarming me, I can’t keep up.”

Ge Xiaolun, hearing Yunyang, realized he was surrounded, identified Yunyang’s direction, and charged straight at him. Without a word, he grabbed Yunyang and flew toward the atmosphere, sending Reina a message to prepare fire support.

Ge Xiaolun’s choice proved wise. On the ground, Reina and others saw a swarm of fighters chasing two small figures, attacking madly.

Reina saw her chance—she raised her hand and fired three cannons, wiping out most of the fighters. But Yunyang and Ge Xiaolun, caught at the edge of the explosion, suffered greatly, facing a direct nuclear blast.

Ge Xiaolun felt extreme heat—his awakened body, which had never sweated, was now drenched.

Even Ge Xiaolun with his Invincible Body suffered; for ordinary third-generation super Yunyang, it was much worse. His body was severely burned, on the verge of melting, and, battered by the blast, he closed his eyes and lost consciousness.
