Chapter 141: Trampling Your Styx
Chapter 141: Flattening Your Styx
Yun Yang looked at Morgana, who looked like she wanted to say something, fell into deep contemplation, and finally let out a soft sigh.
He picked up the clothes he had cast aside and signaled for Morgana to reach out and put them on.
Seeing Yun Yang’s gesture, Morgana chuckled lightly.
"I'm not a child."
With that, she snatched the clothes away. Instead of putting them on, she tossed them aside and performed an instant outfit change with a wave of her hand.
The corners of Yun Yang's mouth twitched involuntarily as he muttered inwardly.
How are you not like a child? Your behavior just now was precisely that of a child.
As soon as Morgana's feet touched the floor, she let out a soft murmur and furrowed her brow slightly in discomfort.
Yun Yang hurriedly reached out to support her, casting an apologetic glance at her lower abdomen.
"Let's rest a bit longer. There's nothing pressing going on anyway."
While Yun Yang was doting on his woman, Zhao Xin and Heshi were strolling through the pedestrian street.
His hands were full of large and small bags, most of which were local specialties of Earth.
Hearing Heshi mention that her teacher enjoyed drinking tea, Zhao Xin was actively searching for a teahouse.
Unfortunately, he couldn't find one, which prompted a brief complaint.
"Sigh, it would be great if we could still use online shopping now."
Hearing Zhao Xin's grievance, Heshi didn't speak. She simply wrapped her arm gently around his and continued pulling him along the street.
The surrounding pedestrians cast gazes of wonder at the stunning silver-haired beauty.
Then, turning their eyes to Zhao Xin beside her, they all wore the expressions of people looking at a wild boar that had uprooted a delicate cabbage.
Zhao Xin noticed these stares, but he didn't feel annoyed at all.
Instead, he gave a soft whistle and flashed a provocative look.
Seeing the pedestrians who didn't dare to lock eyes with him, Zhao Xin's somewhat gloomy mood improved once again.
However, after a moment, Zhao Xin's expression slumped again as he turned to Heshi.
"Wife, is your teacher really easy to talk to?"
"Mhm, the teacher is very easy to talk to."
Heshi's tone sounded extremely firm.
"You're her student, of course she's easy for you. I mean toward outsiders."
Zhao Xin scratched his head and added another question.
"Zhao Xin is not an outsider. I am your guardian angel. In the teacher's eyes, you should be considered one of our own."
Heshi shook her head, her little face taut and filled with absolute seriousness as she spoke softly.
Hearing Heshi's words, Zhao Xin knew she hadn't understood his point, and he couldn't help but cover his face with his hand.
"Alright, what's meant to come will come eventually. Let's go get something to eat."
With that, all the small items in Zhao Xin's hands vanished, and he pulled Heshi toward a small shop.
"Boss, five baskets of steamed soup dumplings."
The boss looked up and saw a couple talking; the woman was quite pretty, but that wasn't important. The boss felt he needed to offer a reminder.
"Young man, the two of you might not be able to finish that much. Food supplies are a bit tight right now, and we can't afford to waste any."
"It's fine, I might not even be full after five baskets."
Zhao Xin patted his stomach with a nonchalant air of confidence.
The boss looked at Zhao Xin, who was shorter than his own girlfriend, displayed a look of disbelief, and offered an alternative suggestion.
"How about three baskets? Wasting food nowadays incurs a fine."
Now Zhao Xin's stubborn streak was triggered. Without arguing further with the boss, he reached out, picked up all five baskets of dumplings, pulled Heshi down to a seat, and looked at the boss.
"Mister Xin here has no other special talents, except for having a huge appetite. Just watch."
Before long, Zhao Xin brought back five empty steamer baskets and placed them in front of the boss.
"How about that? I'm not even half full yet."
Seeing how Zhao Xin had single-handedly polished off five baskets, the boss wore an expression of sheer astonishment.
"I honestly have no idea how you managed to find such a girlfriend."
Zhao Xin looked somewhat awkward upon hearing this, and turned to give Heshi an apologetic smile.
In return, Heshi gave him a sweet smile.
"I'm not hungry. If you like them, you can have them all."
At ease once more, Zhao Xin turned back to the boss.
"Bring me two more baskets."
This time, the boss didn't hesitate and directly handed two more baskets to Zhao Xin, while thinking of his own shrew of a wife at home, he couldn't help muttering.
"She's a good girl. I envy you."
Zhao Xin didn't reply. Instead, he picked up a dumpling with his chopsticks and held it to Heshi's lips.
"Wife, try this. My great Huaxia has another nickname."
Heshi took a bite of the dumpling with a blissful expression and asked quizzically.
"What is it?"
"The Empire of Gluttons, hurry up and try it."
Zhao Xin stated the nickname with a sense of pride, urging Heshi to eat quickly.
By noon, while Yun Yang and Morgana were having their meal, a sudden knock sounded at the door.
Moments later, Zhao Xin and Heshi walked in, which instantly reminded Yun Yang of the matter they had discussed yesterday.
"Have you eaten? Pull up a chair and have some."
Zhao Xin was currently filled with nervous anxiety and had no appetite whatsoever.
"No, Yangzi. Is Heshi's teacher easy to talk to? Tell me about it."
"Haha, she's quite easy to talk to. Rest assured."
Yun Yang's eyes were filled with mischievous amusement, as he could already picture how Hexi was going to toy with Zhao Xin.
"Then I'm relieved, then I'm relieved."
Even though Zhao Xin said he was relieved, his face remained fraught with tension, revealing a deep-seated dread of meeting his prospective mother-in-law.
There was no helping it; on Earth, mothers-in-law were practically raging floods and fierce beasts, instilling quiet terror in the hearts of every wild boar attempting to nibble on precious cabbages.
"It looks like you aren't fully prepared yet. How about this, let's go tomorrow instead."
Yun Yang glanced at Morgana, then offered the suggestion to Zhao Xin in a caring tone.
Hearing this, Zhao Xin felt the heavy tension lift from his heart, and he hurriedly responded.
"Great, I need to prepare a few more gifts anyway. Let's go tomorrow."
Without lingering further, he immediately pulled Heshi away.
Yun Yang watched with a chuckle as Zhao Xin practically bolted out the door, then turned his gaze to Morgana.
"Haha, who would've thought that fearless old Xin would actually be afraid of a mother-in-law."
Morgana didn't speak; she simply offered Yun Yang a smile, though it looked somewhat forced.
Yun Yang instantly realized he had said the wrong thing. The smile vanished from his face as he gently pulled her into his arms.
"I'm sorry."
"It's nothing. Having you is enough. Promise me you won't end up like them."
Morgana's voice trembled slightly as her arms wrapped tightly around Yun Yang.
Yun Yang knew precisely who "them" referred to, and his grip around her tightened just a fraction.
"I won't. We're gods now, you see. Come on, open wide."
Looking at the stir-fried tomatoes and eggs held before her, a trace of happiness bloomed on Morgana's face.
"Do gods even need to eat? Sounds like a fake god to me."
"You can't put it that way. Confucius said, 'Food and sex are human nature.' Thus, eating comes first."
Yun Yang quoted ancient texts, shaking his head as he spouted nonsense.
"Pfft, that was Mencius, and his phrasing didn't mean eating in that sense."
Seeing Yun Yang pretending to understand when he didn't, Morgana couldn't help but chuckle as she burst his bubble.
Of course Yun Yang knew it wasn't Confucius; he was merely acting silly to cheer Morgana up.
"It's all the same, isn't it? Weren't they both ancient sages ending in 'master'?"
Yun Yang waved his hand dismissively.
"Mhm, all the same."
While the two of them shared their tender moment, Karl, located within the Demon One ship, initiated a dark communication with Morgana.
"Liangbing."
This was Karl's eternal, unchanging opening line.
Morgana was in a less-than-stellar mood, so she immediately cursed.
"Karl, you son of a bitch, how many times do I have to tell you not to hack into my private channel as you please? Can't you understand human speech?"
"Do you remember the special energy I told you about? I have new findings."
Indifferent to Morgana's attitude, Karl continued, stating the purpose of his contact this time.
"I don't care. Study whatever you want, you don't need to report it to me."
Morgana had zero desire to converse further with Karl and promptly cut off the communication.
However, Karl clearly wasn't finished. He breached Morgana's dark channel once more, his voice echoing in her ears again.
"The arrival of the Void Era might require your assistance. After all, within the known universe, you are the god with the deepest research into spatial dimensions."
"Bitch, let me tell you, absolutely not. I don't want the Void to arrive, got it?"
Having her private channel breached yet again, Morgana cursed once more while making her stance on the so-called Void Era crystal clear.
"Liangbing, the arrival of the Void Era is inevitable. For the sake of the known universe, we must first understand the Void world."
Karl's voice remained as flat as ever, devoid of any emotional fluctuation.
"Ha! Are you joking? The illustrious God of Death is actually uttering words like 'for the sake of the known universe'? Ha, let me laugh for a second, I really can't hold it in."
Hearing Karl's words, Morgana burst into laughter, failing to miss the chance to mock him.
"Though I study death, I am still a member of the known universe after all. Researching the Void is merely to allow the known universe to develop better, not to destroy it."
A trace of helplessness flashed through Karl's eyes, showing that his mind wasn't entirely calm, yet he patiently offered an explanation.
"Right, right, right. You're doing it for the good of the known universe, everything you say is right. But what does that have to do with yours truly?"
Morgana stopped laughing and replied dismissively.
"Entering the Void world requires spatial assistance. Liangbing, you are researching—"
Before Karl could finish, Morgana interrupted him.
"Enough. If you need it, research it yourself; the Queen is not interested."
"Studying it alone is too difficult, and I cannot wait that long. If possible, I truly hope you can come and help me."
Karl's tone remained as level as ever, yet it concealed a shred of lingering hope.
"Not helping. Research it yourself."
"Chronos Rose is the pinnacle crystallization of space within the known universe. I—"
Karl's words were cut off once more by Morgana.
"Karl! Are you threatening me?!"
Hearing Karl mention Morgana, her voice dropped to an extremely low register, thick with bone-chilling cold.
"No. Chronos Rose is your beloved, and she is equally my beloved. Since you are unwilling to help, then she is the most suitable person to assist me."
"Bitch, you are threatening me—threatening the Demon Queen! Bitch, if you dare to lay a finger on Morgana, the demon army will trample your Styx galaxy into dust!"
Hearing Karl's words, Morgana instantly flew into a rage, issuing a declaration of war against him.
"I have no doubt about the demons' capability to flatten Styx. However, Liangbing, I am a scholar; endless unknowns are my pursuit. Please, help me."
Karl's tone remained unchanged, entirely devoid of the realization that he had just provoked a war, as he continued to solicit Morgana's aid.
