Chapter 140: For Whom Does the Rose Bloom

Time flew by, and another three days passed in silence.

Yun Yang saw none of the benefits promised by Rose. For these past three days, he had been hanging out with Zhao Xin. Zhao Xin, meanwhile, went to Mars every day to check on the progress of the space force base, returning to the Heavenly Blade ship afterward to slack off and play video games with Yun Yang.

The two of them would occasionally send messages to Ge Xiaolun and Liu Chuang, asking if they wanted to join. Liu Chuang didn't mind much, but Ge Xiaolun, a gaming enthusiast, found it rather agonizing. By now, Ge Xiaolun had stopped responding to their dark communication altogether.

Just as Yun Yang was roaring, "My spear still stands!" while charging into a team fight, Rose, who had been cooped up in her room for three days, finally emerged. Yun Yang immediately abandoned Zhao Xin and walked toward Rose with his arms wide open.

Seeing Yun Yang approach, Rose took two steps forward, intending to accept his embrace. Yet, just as she thought he was going to hold her, Yun Yang pressed down on her shoulders and even gave a sniff with his nose.

"Oh my, my Rose doesn't smell like roses anymore."

Hearing this, Rose froze. Was this guy implying she hadn't bathed in three days? A blush crept up her face, and she gave him a sharp kick on the shin. She then opened a wormhole to Qingxue’s side, asking her to take her to bathe.

Watching Rose disappear, Yun Yang winced at the pain in his leg and his eyes twitched. He hadn't expected such a heavy retaliation for a little teasing—and she was wearing her black armor, too. Before he could recover from his thoughts, he heard a mournful cry from Zhao Xin.

"My good brother Ox, save me!"

Indeed, Yun Yang was playing as the Ox hero. Under pressure from Zhao Xin, he had abandoned the Archer Angel he was supporting to help this rough guy instead. If you ask why Yun Yang was pressured, it was obviously because he had been flirting too much while supporting the Archer Angel.

After howling, Zhao Xin shifted his focus from the game and looked at Yun Yang, who was nursing his leg. "What? Did you take an arrow to the knee?"

Hearing this, Yun Yang’s soul of sarcasm ignited. "No, I just took an arrow to the shin."

"Was it shot by the Archer girl on the other team?"

"No, it was shot by the Space Rose."

"Huh? When did Rose come by?"

"Back when you were team fighting," Yun Yang replied helplessly, spreading his hands.

"Haha, that’s what you get for AFKing during a team fight. Serves you right," Zhao Xin laughed gleefully.

Just then, Zhi Xin, who had been in the supercomputing center, also came out. Zhao Xin stopped mocking Yun Yang and, with the speed of lightning, appeared beside Zhi Xin, even producing a bottle of water in his hand.

Watching the two suddenly display their affection, Yun Yang silently turned back to his game. He went to the bottom lane and quietly supported the ADC. Before long, the teammates noticed Zhao Xin had gone AFK and started asking where the jungler had gone.

Finally, after they were aced due to the lack of a jungler, Yun Yang typed in the public chat: "The jungler is busy showing affection with Zhi Xin in front of the supercomputing center."

After a few waves of resistance, their crystal was pushed down.

Yun Yang typed again: "Zhao Xin is still showing affection, same location."

Looking at the smiley face on the screen, Yun Yang glanced with pity at Zhao Xin, who was interacting with Zhi Xin. Sure enough, only a few minutes later, four Tier-1 elite Angels arrived. Before Zhao Xin could figure out what was happening, he was beaten up by the four Angel ladies. Now, Zhi Xin was tenderly wiping Zhao Xin’s face.

From the hissing sounds Zhao Xin made every so often, Yun Yang could tell just how angry the Angel ladies had been. Still, super soldiers recovered quickly; by the time Rose returned, the injuries on Zhao Xin were mostly healed.

Rose walked up to Yun Yang and, imitating his earlier gesture, took a sniff. "Ouch, you really stink."

Hearing this, Yun Yang instinctively raised his arm to smell himself. Halfway there, he realized he had been played. Sure enough, before he could lower his arm, Rose’s laughter rang out.

"Haha, not only do you stink, you're a fool too."

Yun Yang curled his lips, hoisted Rose onto his shoulder, and declared, "The landlord's foolish son has come to kidnap a maiden! Hahahaha!" He let out a signature laugh of a decadent playboy.

Rose was stunned for a moment, then played along, struggling in his arms. "Help! This maiden will never dare do it again!"

Watching the two interact, Zhao Xin jumped in front of them. "In broad daylight, under the clear sky, release that maiden at once! Otherwise, don't blame my silver spear for being heartless!"

After Yun Yang put Rose down, he suppressed a laugh and said, "Hero, have mercy! I won't dare do it again!"

Rose also continued the act. "Hero, I have no way to repay your saving grace. Shall I offer myself to you?"

Zhao Xin was fully immersed in the role now, shaking his silver spear and laughing loudly. "Haha, a fair maiden is what a gentleman pursues, surely—"

"Ahem."

Zhi Xin’s voice shattered Zhao Xin’s state of mind. Coming back to his senses, Zhao Xin looked at the two who were suppressing smiles and the slightly embarrassed Zhi Xin, and he realized what was happening.

"Sure... surely not! I, Brother Xin, am a gentleman; I never take advantage of people in distress."

After the farce, the two couples went their separate ways. Rose couldn't stop thinking about the moment Yun Yang had sniffed her. She pushed him into the bathroom, leaving him standing there in a daze. He seemed to recall something, a look of excitement appearing on his face.

Rose sat on the bed, thinking of the "Keir" Yun Yang had mentioned, and the nostalgic look in his eyes when he spoke of her. It gave Rose a sense of crisis; after all, Yun Yang had spent about half a year alone with that Keir, while she and Yun Yang had spent less than half a year together in total.

Keir was an Angel, and Angels were known for having the most beautiful bodies in the known universe—they were truly the most perfect creatures. Should she give him some sweetness?

While Rose was lost in her thoughts, Yun Yang stepped out in a towel, moving softly. He looked at Rose, who alternated between being conflicted and shy, and felt a sense of adoration. The fire of desire in his heart slowly faded. In that small room, two people were lost in their own worlds.

I don't know how much time passed, but Rose seemed to feel his gaze and woke up with a start. Hearing no sound of water from the bathroom, she turned her head and found Yun Yang standing beside her.

His movement startled her as well. He sat on the edge of the bed and pulled her into an embrace. The black armor on Rose’s body vanished instantly, replaced by her usual military vest as she leaned gently against his shoulder.

Yun Yang smiled knowingly, preparing to tease her. "Rose, what about the benefits we talked about? I've been waiting for a long time."

"Benefits? What kind of benefits do you want?"

Yun Yang didn't speak but shifted his gaze to her chest. Feeling his gaze, Rose surprisingly felt no shyness; instead, she smiled beautifully and asked softly, "Do you... want it?"

As she spoke, the room's lighting dimmed to a soft pink hue. As Yun Yang reached out his "devilish claws," there was a "click," and the room plunged into darkness.

The next day, when Yun Yang woke up, he looked at the beauty beside him, who still had traces of tears at the corners of her eyes, and felt a pang of heartache. Last night, as both were experiencing this for the first time, they were insatiable, and as super soldiers, their stamina was far beyond that of ordinary people, leading to a night of madness.

He kissed her forehead gently and then crept into the kitchen. Not long after he left, a ray of sunlight hit her face. Her eyelashes flickered, and she frowned slightly as if sensing something. She reached out to grope for him, and upon finding nothing, her beautiful eyes snapped open, a flash of fear in her pupils.

She got up and ran out of the room, looking as panicked as an abandoned beast. She looked blankly around the empty living room, then turned her gaze toward the kitchen. Seeing a figure there wearing an apron, the panic in her eyes slowly faded.

The figure seemed to sense something and turned around, seeing the thin silhouette leaning against the wall watching him. He nervously dropped his cooking utensils, scrambled to untie his apron, and hurried over to her side. He gently scooped her up and carried her back toward the bedroom.

"Why aren't you wearing any clothes? And walking on the floor barefoot—what if you catch a cold?" Yun Yang said, sounding a bit angry as he looked at the woman clinging to his neck.

She didn't speak, so Yun Yang had to lay her back on the bed and gently pull the quilt over her. "Wait a moment, the food will be ready soon."

"Mm."

Receiving her acknowledgment, Yun Yang ruffled her hair and returned to the kitchen. Before long, he came back with a small bowl of white porridge and two rather unattractive-looking fried eggs. Seeing that she made no move to eat and was just blinking her beautiful eyes at him, a look of doting affection appeared on Yun Yang’s face.

He produced a spoon, blew on the steaming porridge a few times, and brought it to her lips. She took a big, happy bite. Soon, only the tableware remained on the tray, with not a morsel of the ugly eggs left.

Watching Rose behave like a child, Yun Yang was willing to play along even if he didn't fully understand what was happening. Rose didn't know what was going on either; as she ate the porridge he brought, she thoroughly enjoyed the care he showed her. It was a kind of concern she had never experienced before—it was just like the heartbeat she felt when he covered her with a blanket earlier.

Although the fried eggs had a faint burnt taste, they turned into sweetness in her mouth, rippling through her heart. Gradually, the gentle figure before her began to merge with another figure that was always majestic, making her almost blurt out the two words she had never spoken before.

But she regained her senses at the very last moment, her lips moving slightly, though no sound escaped.
