Chapter 135: The Ambition of the Northern Oath Leader
Chapter 135: The Ambition of the Northern Oath Leader
When they saw the soldiers jumping down, full of energy, they feared they had picked up the wrong flight. However, upon checking the other two transport planes and finding no wounded among them, they were left in a state of bewilderment. Noticing their confusion, Qi Lin stepped forward to explain on behalf of Yun Yang.
"This time, we had a super soldier helping with the healing. There are no casualties."
Though puzzled, their trust in the Black Armor Squad kept them from asking further questions.
Back in the tent, the trio sat in a circle. Yun Yang was the first to speak.
"Three converted demons escaped. They should be high-ranking members of the Northern Oath, and one of them is likely their leader. Many other converted demons with specialized equipment also fled, but this battle should be a major blow to the Northern Oath. They lost at least half of their strength here."
Qi Lin added details about the situation in the woods.
"Let's go find them. If these guys remain on Earth, they will only be a disaster," Qiang Wei concluded, labeling the fugitives.
"How about this: we’ll have Tian Ren 7 scan for them and provide us with a general coordinate," Yun Yang suggested. He then contacted A-Zhui, who was currently aboard the Tian Ren 7.
A-Zhui was watching the angels as they emerged from the medical pods. The check-ups confirmed that the demons hadn't left any hidden traps; they had merely suppressed the angels' dark energy and gene engines. Just as she was about to address them, Yun Yang's dark communication channel opened. She signaled the angels to leave and answered the call.
"A-Zhui, are you busy?" Yun Yang asked, though it was merely a formality.
"Oh? I'm free."
"I need a favor. Could you locate the high-ranking members of the Northern Oath? I know this is an internal Earth affair, so consider this a personal request. We're going to clean them up."
"Aren't you supposed to be enjoying some private time with Qiang Wei? Why are you going off to hunt down the Northern Oath? Did I interrupt the two of you?" A-Zhui teased, blinking her large eyes instead of giving a direct answer.
"You certainly did. But we can continue our 'private time' after taking care of them. Come on, Sister Zhui, do us a favor."
The title "Sister Zhui" sounded pleasant to her; after all, Yun Yang usually just called everyone by their names. No other angel had ever been addressed as "Sister" by him. It wasn't entirely his fault—he had always addressed Keisha by her name alone, subconsciously placing himself on equal footing, so he rarely considered their ages.
"Fine. Wait a moment. Once I find them, I'll send you the coordinates."
"Thank you."
With A-Zhui's response, Yun Yang turned his attention back to his two companions. "Alright, now all we have to do is wait quietly for the coordinates from Tian Ren 7."
Seeing them nod, he continued, "When the time comes, I'll take you both directly to the vicinity. To prevent them from escaping again, Qiang Wei will open a micro-wormhole, and Qi Lin will take them out with a single shot. Mission accomplished."
He looked at them expectantly, hoping for their thoughts on his plan. Neither spoke, but Yun Yang was persistent. "Qi Lin? What do you think of this plan?"
"If you want to know what I think of the plan, you'll have to call me 'Sister' first," Qi Lin said, a mischievous glint in her eye, recalling his tone when he was asking for a favor earlier.
Before Yun Yang could respond, Qiang Wei pressed her hand on Qi Lin's shoulder and said, "The plan is excellent. It’s exactly what I’d expect from you."
Hearing Qiang Wei's praise, Yun Yang smiled and raised an eyebrow at Qi Lin, signaling that he didn't need her evaluation anymore—and that the idea of her being his "sister" was out of the question.
Qi Lin's gaze wandered between the two, eventually landing on the rings on their fingers. She covered her face and sighed, "I should have known. You’ve already put on the rings, acting all lovey-dovey without a thought for me."
Qiang Wei bashfully covered her ringed hand, while Yun Yang held his hand out to Qi Lin, wiggling his fingers. "See this? The rose pattern. Jealous, aren't you? A single..."
Before he could finish his boast, Qi Lin caught on to what he was about to say and slammed her hand onto the table. "Go on, why’d you stop?"
"Cough, cough. What? What did I say? That’s a nice pistol you have there." Yun Yang cleared his throat, trying to change the subject by eyeing her sidearm.
However, his comment reminded her of Liu Chuang back when he was still a hoodlum. She remembered him saying something similar at the police station, which had infuriated her. Her expression darkened, and she snapped, "Where are you looking?"
The three of them froze. Qi Lin felt awkward; Qiang Wei felt the situation was strangely familiar; and Yun Yang, recalling the scene, pointed his finger at the pistol on the table. "I’m looking at the pistol. I wasn't glancing anywhere else."
He then looked up and noticed the "520520" engraving on the gun, causing him to gulp. Qi Lin reacted by crossing her arms over her chest, shielding herself from his gaze, while Qiang Wei asked through gritted teeth, "Is it nice? Very big, isn't it?"
Yun Yang wasn't stupid; he knew he had to navigate this life-threatening situation. He reached out and touched the pistol, saying, "This pistol is nice. It really looks quite nice."
"Nice, your sister! You pervert! I’m going to finish you!" Qiang Wei stood up, grabbed Yun Yang by the ear, and pulled him close, shouting.
Qi Lin quietly stood up, cast a pitying glance at the foolhardy Yun Yang, and stepped out of the tent. Moments later, Yun Yang's howls of pain echoed from within—a sound that could break a listener's heart.
Qi Lin couldn't help but laugh. Nearby soldiers on duty gathered around, asking, "Sister Qi Lin, what's happening in there?"
"Nothing much. Someone was being a fool in front of his partner, and this is the result," she said, happily sharing the gossip.
More soldiers gathered, listening with amusement to Yun Yang’s pleas for mercy. It wasn't until a voice from inside shouted, "Will you still stare at other people's chests?" that the soldiers outside froze. They all turned their gaze toward Qi Lin. Since there were only three people in the tent and two were a couple, the person being stared at must have been Qi Lin.
Then, Yun Yang’s voice came again: "I really didn't! I was looking at the pistol!" The soldiers' looks toward Qi Lin shifted into something indescribable.
Feeling uncomfortable under their collective gaze, Qi Lin shouted toward the tent, "Qiang Wei!"
The tent went silent, followed by footsteps. Qiang Wei poked her head out, saw the crowd of onlookers, let go of Yun Yang's ear, and smiled, "Just a slip of the tongue. I was just finding an excuse."
The soldiers offered silent prayers for the poor guy inside. Just then, Yun Yang received the dark communication from A-Zhui, containing only the coordinates. He rubbed his ear and put his arm around Qiang Wei. "Let's go. The target has been found." He then signaled for Qi Lin to join them.
Without hesitation, Qi Lin walked over, grabbed Yun Yang’s arm, and they vanished before the soldiers' eyes.
"Am I hallucinating? Was he holding two girls at once?" one soldier asked, rubbing his eyes.
"My heart is broken. I was actually hoping I could win Qi Lin over."
"Give it a rest. You don't even look half as handsome as him."
While the soldiers joked among themselves, the trio had already arrived near the target location. It was a desolate plain, and the camp ahead was clearly visible, giving them a perfect view of the entire area.
Yun Yang gestured with a bow. "We have arrived at the designated location. Please, start your performance."
A few minutes earlier, the remaining high-ranking members of the Northern Oath were in a somber mood, having realized that Morgana's mission requirements were far too demanding.
"Leader, one angel and one female sniper have already caused us heavy losses. This is simply not something we can handle. Should we...?"
Another converted demon chimed in, "Exactly, Leader. With our strength, as long as we don't provoke them, we can easily dominate this region. There's no need to risk our lives for a demigod."
The Northern Oath leader fell silent for a moment before speaking. "No, this only proves the rarity of gods—or rather, demigods. Our current second-generation demon physiques will live for at most a thousand years. If it were before, I would be satisfied."
He slammed his hands on the table and shouted, "But now, we have seen a much broader world! Earth is but a speck of dust in the universe. Earth, humanity, the Black Armor, angels, and even demons should all be our stepping stones. We must become higher-level life forms to do whatever we please!"
"But—"
"There are no 'buts'! Humans are nothing but ants, and the Black Armor are just slightly stronger ants. We are the same. But as long as we can exterminate some of these ants, we can shed our status as ants! Now, let us continue discussing the combat plan."
With the leader’s firm stance, the other two converted demons dared not speak further, turning their attention to him.
The leader sat back down, brow furrowed. "Do we have a chance to secure nuclear weapons? If we drop a nuke, I don't believe they can survive. Even if an angel survives, we’ll surely take out the Black Armor sniper."
"It's possible. We know the location of a certain alliance's nuclear base. Taking one or two shouldn't be a problem."
"Good. Rest for a day. Open up Camp Number 3 completely and let the soldiers enjoy themselves. The day after tomorrow, we go for the nukes."
After finishing, the leader leaned back in his chair, lost in thought, while his subordinate ordered the guards: "Go, bring a few of the youngest and prettiest ones over. And spread the news of the celebration to the soldiers. I think they’ll be very happy."
