Chapter 132: In Antiquity, Zhuge Liang Debated the Scholars
Chapter 132: As Zhuge Liang Once Debated the Confucian Scholars
The Northern Alliance armed forces below, upon discovering Yun Yang, aimed their dark, gaping gun barrels—tanks and infantry alike—directly at him in the sky.
Yun Yang, indifferent to these conventional weapons, sat suspended in mid-air and spoke softly.
"Ahead lies the border of Huaxia. Those who cross shall die. Your faith will not save you; it is that simple. Make your choice."
Though Yun Yang spoke in a low voice, the wormhole corridor generated by Rose gave his words the same majestic and domineering quality as Keisha’s speech. Yun Yang felt a secret thrill; he had already decided that he must learn how to do this when he returned. He absolutely had to.
The Northern Alliance soldiers below, witnessing and hearing what seemed like a divine manifestation, could not help but panic. They began to whisper amongst themselves, and some even lowered their weapons, kneeling on the ground and calling out to God.
However, these were only a small minority. Most, though shaken, stubbornly kept their guns raised.
A converted demon flew up to Yun Yang’s altitude and shouted at the top of his lungs, "You with the white wings, are you an angel?"
"No," Yun Yang denied, shaking his head.
"Right, I’ve heard angels are all women. Since you aren't an angel, then die!"
Before the converted demon could finish his sentence, he lunged at Yun Yang. Yun Yang did not speak, nor did he make a move.
A faint gunshot rang out. A God-Slaying armor-piercing round pierced the demon's chest, causing it to shriek as it plummeted back to the ground. It crashed into several Northern Alliance soldiers who were unable to dodge in time; being crushed by a demon several times their size was an experience best left to the imagination.
Ignoring the wailing below, Yun Yang continued coldly, "I give you half an hour to retreat. Those who remain after that time will stay here forever."
Only a small portion of the crowd showed signs of unrest; the majority remained blank-faced, continuing to aim their weapons at Yun Yang. In truth, most of them did not understand a word Yun Yang said. As the Northern Alliance was a foreign entity, only a handful of them understood Mandarin.
At this moment, inside the command center, the Northern Alliance leader, Monkey D. Murphy, received reports from the front line that an angel had descended and blocked the army's advance. Hearing of the rare appearance of an angel, the leader gathered his subordinates, preparing to swarm and take down this self-righteous creature. To ensure success, all missiles were placed on standby; at a single command, hundreds of missiles would strike the angel with thunderous force. Simultaneously, to preserve his own forces, he ordered a retreat to move outside the missile's strike zone.
From Yun Yang's perspective, his display of bravado had successfully forced the enemy to retreat. He felt elated—Keisha’s way of showing off was truly effective. Just as Zhuge Liang once debated the Confucian scholars, today Young Master Yun had turned back an army with his words. This was worthy of being written into history books.
To maintain his imposing aura, Yun Yang remained perfectly still in his pose, watching the Northern Alliance forces slowly withdraw. Unlike him, Rose and Qilin, positioned elsewhere, noticed something amiss, but out of trust in Yun Yang’s strength, they said nothing.
After all, with the enemy slowly retreating below, Yun Yang appeared quite magnificent. In Rose’s eyes, little stars were practically sparkling. She had initially sought a spiritual anchor, but gradually found his presence filling more of her heart. Now, seeing him deter an entire army single-handedly perfectly matched her ideals for a partner.
Just as the Northern Alliance army cleared the plains and Yun Yang prepared to take off to claim his credit, a figure in white robes with gold trim, holding a golden staff, appeared on a nearby hill. Watching Yun Yang as he began to rise, the staff crackled with thunder before striking the ground heavily. In response, a rumble of thunder echoed through the sky.
As Yun Yang looked up in confusion, a lightning dragon the size of a water barrel struck him instantly. Blinding electricity crackled around his body, stinging his eyes and filling his ears with the sound of popping sparks. Although Yun Yang was uninjured, he knew he had been ambushed. How infuriating—couldn't a guy just show off in peace?
As the lightning dissipated, before Yun Yang could locate his assailant, he saw a dense swarm of missiles flying toward him. Because of the earlier lightning strike, Yun Yang hadn't detected them until now; it was too late to dodge. He decided not to bother—he would let these fools experience true despair. After all, he was a man who could withstand nuclear weapons.
The Northern Alliance leader watched as countless missiles struck the angel and was overjoyed, convinced of his victory. He ordered the entire army to charge, regardless of the consequences. He wanted the angel and Qilin both, hoping Queen Morgana would reward him with a god-body.
The missile bombardment lasted for a full minute. Sensing that he had consumed less than 10% of his energy reserves between the missiles and the lightning, Yun Yang curled his lip and flew out from the fire.
Upon emerging, he discovered that the Northern Alliance, which had supposedly retreated, had returned. The previous retreat had been a complete ruse; he had been played for a fool.
Yun Yang stood with his sword, pointing it at the soldiers below, and spoke coldly: "Obstinate and foolish, not worth saving!"
As he finished speaking, he slashed his King's Sword. In that instant, the charging Northern Alliance soldiers burst into bloody mist, their momentum carrying them a few more meters before they collapsed heavily to the ground.
The hellish scene on the ground, combined with the silver-armored figure high in the sky and his chilling declaration, formed a scene of epic proportions. If someone had filmed this, they would surely view Yun Yang as a villain, while the Northern Alliance members, to an uninformed observer, would appear as desperate mortals challenging a god in a fight against oppression.
In the distance, a converted demon, a high-ranking member of the Northern Alliance, watched this and turned to his leader, trembling. "Leader, should we still attack? This angel is terrifyingly strong. I’m afraid that we..."
He left the rest unsaid, feeling that as a demon, he shouldn't fear an angel, and he was ashamed to speak of his fear of death.
Yun Yang looked at the remaining third of the armed forces below and found it scientifically inexplicable that they hadn't fled but were still charging. He was unaware that he had already killed those less devout to Morgana, as they were cannon fodder positioned in the front.
Yun Yang didn't care much; he had been analyzing them from the front row backward. He intended to let them advance so he could wipe them out row by row as they crossed the border, which he thought would make him look even more imposing.
The Northern Alliance members below, all shouting in broken Chinese, cried out, "For Queen Morgana!"
They launched a fearless charge, ignoring the gore beneath their feet. A chill ran through Yun Yang—was this faith? It was terrifying to see people so unafraid of death.
However, Yun Yang would not let them cross the border. He had said that those who crossed would die, and he would keep his word. He swung his sword and charged toward the incoming soldiers.
This scene was witnessed by the watching Monkey D. Murphy, who felt a surge of confidence and said to the surrounding demons, "Look, he is engaging in melee combat and no longer using those massive energy attacks. Such monstrous techniques must come at a price. Now is our chance! Take down the angel and Qilin!"
The surrounding demons exchanged glances, then nodded with determination. "Charge!"
Though ready to engage, they were still uneasy and asked the white-robed elder to open a communication channel. "High Priest, release another lightning storm to provide us cover."
"My Lord, my body cannot withstand a second 'Heavenly Punishment' in such a short time. I will be injured," the High Priest replied, his voice strained.
Monkey D. Murphy didn't hesitate. "What are you afraid of? Once we kill the angel, do you think Queen Morgana won't reward us with healing? She might even grant us the chance to become gods. Why not consider that?"
The High Priest, after hearing this and glancing at Yun Yang slaughtering his way through the crowd, nodded fiercely. "Very well, prepare yourselves."
As he said this, the High Priest didn't even look at the Northern Alliance members near Yun Yang, believing that death was merely a necessary path to the divine kingdom. If Morgana knew his thoughts, she would have slapped him and cursed him for being a fake believer. Death was Karl's obsession; demons believed in corruption and freedom—it had nothing to do with death.
But none of that mattered. The staff in the High Priest’s hand pulsed with electric arcs again, and thunder rumbled once more. Yun Yang, still in the midst of his slaughter, didn't care; the lightning posed no threat to him. In fact, if it were the same lightning as before, it might even help him kill the Northern Alliance members—something he welcomed.
Meanwhile, Qilin switched her God-Slayer rifle to fire high-explosive armor-piercing rounds, turning her sniper rifle into an automatic weapon and switching to spray-fire mode. Rose, in turn, used micro-wormholes to transport any of Qilin’s stray shots directly in front of some unlucky targets, ensuring every round was put to use. After all, flame-grade armor-piercing rounds were quite expensive.
Just as the two were cooperating perfectly, they heard the thunder rumbling again, lightning flashing in the clouds. It reminded them of how Yun Yang had been struck earlier.
"Find him and take care of the one who's sneaking these attacks," Rose said, her tone icy.
