Chapter 131: Descent of the Holy Angel

At the western border of Huaxia, the border defense camp was quiet. After finishing her chicken soup, Qilin felt no urge to rest. She took out her God-Punishing sniper rifle and began to contemplate the strategy for the following day’s battle. From her dark plane, she retrieved over two hundred rounds of God-Slayer Type I armor-piercing bullets—leftovers from the previous skirmish with the "Tian Zha" (Heavenly Scum) that Ling Feng had allowed her to keep.

She happily tucked them away, along with three fully loaded magazines that had been recently issued. Looking at the paltry three magazines, she couldn't help but mutter, "Stingy." It was hardly Ling Feng’s fault; God-Slayer rounds were notoriously difficult to manufacture, and even with Ge Xiaolun providing the materials, it remained a significant challenge for Earth's current industrial capacity.

Just as Qilin was loading her weapon, the faint sound of artillery fire reached her ears. Her expression turned solemn; she stowed the God-Punishing rifle into her dark plane and instantly donned her black armor. Stepping briskly out of her tent, she encountered the soldier who had delivered her soup earlier.

"A lieutenant like you standing guard here... isn't that a bit inappropriate?" she teased.

"Huh? You're a sniper from the Black Tortoise Company; I was just concerned..." An Kangkang stammered as he turned to see Qilin.

"Can you hear the artillery fire in the distance?" Qilin asked.

"I don't hear anything," An Kangkang replied, confused.

"I can. It’s very faint, coming from over there..." Qilin pointed in a specific direction, signaling him to notify the various departments to prepare for combat.

Meanwhile, Rose and Yun Yang were aimlessly flying hand-in-hand through the sky, searching for a larger living creature to test the ring's capabilities. Perhaps wildlife in Huaxia was truly scarce; they had circled Mount Hua without spotting even a single wolf, let alone any larger animals.

"Shall we go abroad and find a converted demon to test it on?" Yun Yang suggested, realizing they likely wouldn't find any large animals here.

"Let's not," Rose replied, rejecting the idea since converted demons were once human. "Let's find a big fish in the ocean instead."

Yun Yang’s eyes lit up. He pulled Rose to a hover. "I’m familiar with that. When I returned to Earth, I caught plenty of fish to eat."

Over the vast, breezy surface of the East Sea, a shimmer of light suddenly appeared, and the two figures materialized. "Wait here, watch this," Yun Yang said, glancing at the water before stripping off his outer garment and diving into the deep, dark sea. Rose watched the empty expanse of water, rolling her eyes.

Five minutes later, while Rose was boredly crouching on a wormhole corridor playing with the seawater, Yun Yang emerged dragging a shark. Before Rose could speak, he complained, "Something's wrong. Why are there so few fish in Earth's oceans? This was the biggest one I could find."

"Goes without saying—they've all been eaten," Rose said, pulling him out of the water with a dry joke.

Yun Yang pondered this, then had a sudden realization. "So that's it. It seems the fishing ban is quite necessary."

He gripped the struggling shark with both hands and held it out to Rose. "Go ahead, try it. I’ve analyzed it; its life force is very strong right now."

Rose nodded and struck the shark with a light punch. As if drained of its essence, the shark’s vigorous struggle ceased, replaced only by the weak flicking of its tail.

"Continue," Yun Yang prompted. Rose struck a few more times, and Yun Yang could feel the shark’s life force fading. Curious to see if it was truly immortal, he tossed the half-dead shark back into the sea and dove in again. This time, the trip was shorter; within three minutes, he returned with a massive fish, larger than the shark, though he didn't recognize the species.

He threw it before Rose and handed her the King’s Sword. "Cut its head off directly. Let’s see if it dies."

Rose didn't hesitate; with one swift stroke, the fish was severed into two pieces. Its life force display dropped by half, and then it expired. The two concluded that fatal wounds would still result in death; it was not truly immortal. Yet, something felt off, though they couldn't quite put their fingers on it. (If the fish could talk, it would surely curse them: "Have you ever seen a fish survive having its head chopped off?")

With this, the final shortcoming in Rose’s arsenal was addressed. Such indefensible attack power was truly terrifying. Yun Yang looked at her with feigned trepidation. "This ability is a bit scary. Don't you go hitting me."

"Weren't you the one who asked me to test it on you earlier? Why are you afraid now?" Rose said, wrapping her arms around his.

"That was just ignorance being fearless," Yun Yang explained sheepishly. With a wave, he opened a portal back to the summit of Mount Hua, leaving the two large fish behind to "weep" in the ocean.

Back at Mount Hua, Rose looked at the scantily clad Yun Yang and blushed, tapping his chest. "Put some clothes on, have you no shame?"

Yun Yang looked at her—the usually cold and aloof woman now flushed with shyness in his arms. A surge of desire flared in his heart. He swept her off her feet. "It's the middle of the night, why bother with clothes?"

As he headed toward the tent, Rose felt the tension in her body tighten, but then, as if coming to a realization, she twisted the ring on her finger. Her body softened, and she hooked her arms around his neck, burying her face in his chest.

Yun Yang felt the change in her and chuckled. However, just as he reached the tent, he felt the environment was unsuitable. As he prepared to enter a virtual space, an encrypted communication came through, making him freeze. He answered with a foul mood. "Who is it? What is it?"

"Save me... coordinates..."

It was Qilin’s voice, sounding incredibly weak. Yun Yang’s heart tightened. What happened?

Just moments ago, after running out of ammunition and failing to reload in time, Qilin had fought a grueling battle, finally finishing off a newly emerged second-generation converted demon with a grenade. Just as she relaxed to recover, the creature had stirred again. With no strength left to fight, Qilin had frantically sought a way out, choosing to contact Yun Yang, knowing he was the only one who could reach her in time.

Watching the wobbling, smoke-emitting demon stand up, Qilin propped herself up with one arm, staring intensely, silently gathering her strength for a final stand. She didn't want to sacrifice herself just yet. But to her surprise, the demon suddenly collapsed and remained still—it had been a final burst of energy.

Qilin’s heart settled, her gathered strength dissipated, and she collapsed back onto the ground. At that moment, two figures—one in silver, one in black—appeared beside her. The silver-armored figure held a long sword, while the black-armored figure immediately scooped Qilin up and flew into the air, both scanning their surroundings vigilantly.

Seeing the fallen demon, they understood what had happened. Yun Yang didn't hesitate; his King’s Sword flew from his hand, pinning the creature before he sliced it in two. He flew to Rose’s side and, without a word, connected to Qilin to begin healing her.

Before long, Qilin regained some strength. "Thank you. That converted demon was too hard to fight."

"What happened?" Rose asked.

Qilin recounted her mission and experience. Yun Yang’s expression darkened. "What does it mean to 'try to avoid shooting ordinary human soldiers'? They’re holding guns too, aren't they? I can't wrap my head around that!"

Rose was equally indignant, though her anger was directed elsewhere. "Liang Bing... truly worthy of being the Demon Queen. Saying one thing to our faces and doing another behind our backs."

Yun Yang conjured a sofa for Qilin to rest on. The three of them remained in the wilderness, with Yun Yang healing Qilin, Qilin detailing the next deployments, and Rose contemplating how to strike at the remaining converted demons on Earth.

The following day, at 5:00 AM.

The massive legion of the "North Oath" armed group had assembled outside the forest where the trio was located. The area was a valley, suitable for the advance of tanks and armored vehicles.

Looking at the endless sea of tanks and soldiers, the three were stunned. This kind of firepower could flatten several small nations in one go.

"Tsk, are these guys brain-dead? Does everyone think Huaxia is someone they can bully?" Yun Yang muttered, his voice cold.

"My rifle—the first setting is God-Slayer Type I, the second is Flame-level armor-piercing rounds. Neither is meant for ordinary people. It looks like you two will have to handle these," Qilin said, observing the battlefield through her scope.

Rose turned to Yun Yang. "With such large-scale formations and no fire support, there’s nothing I can do either."

Both women turned their expectant gazes toward Yun Yang. He shrugged. "Fine, I’ll give it a try."

With that, wings sprouted from his back, and he soared into the sky. Hovering above the North Oath forces, his silver armor reflecting the dawn sun, he appeared like the descent of a holy angel.
