Chapter 113: You Are Finished
"Don't worry, I'll help you take out a few more." Although she was slightly stunned, Qi Lin managed to respond.
The two fell silent afterward. Yun Yang carefully examined the attributes of the Void Greatsword, discovering that it was indeed quite formidable. It could inflict Void-level damage; if the enemy lacked Void-based abilities, the damage caused by the sword was essentially permanent. The principle behind it was to redefine the wound as something that had always existed, meaning that to heal it, one would have to redefine the very properties of the wound's existence. However, there was a major prerequisite: one had to actually be able to inflict damage in the first place. For a third-generation god body, which is highly energized, causing such damage was difficult. As for a fourth-generation god body, even cutting one in half wouldn't count as a true injury, rendering the Void Greatsword useless. But this time it didn't matter, as the incoming Heavenly Scum soldiers were only second-generation, posing no such concerns.
Once he finished checking the attributes, it was time to move. Following Ling Feng’s order, the high-end combat sniper team soared into the sky. Yun Yang grabbed Qi Lin and passed through a wormhole, arriving in the middle of a vast, empty expanse of space.
This location was ill-suited for snipers because it was too exposed, making them easy targets for the enemy. Yet, there was no other choice; this whole sector was like this. Since there were no favorable conditions, they would create them. Yun Yang set up a wormhole corridor for Qi Lin and then teleported himself to an asteroid belt. Qi Lin was confused when Yun Yang suddenly vanished, but she didn't ask; she knew he wouldn't harm her.
A minute later, a scene unfolded that left Qi Lin dumbfounded. She watched as Yun Yang dragged an asteroid about two kilometers in diameter through space. Her mouth formed an "O," and she couldn't find the words to describe her feelings.
"Alright, we'll use this as cover. It's really hard to find one this small." Seeing Qi Lin’s expression, Yun Yang patted the asteroid behind him nonchalantly. He was telling the truth; finding one this small in the Saturn ring belt was genuinely difficult. What could Qi Lin say? Nothing. She could only silently give him a thumbs-up to signify that he had done a great job.
Just as they finished their preparations, fifteen beams of light—slightly thinner than the "Fierce Tide"—shot toward them. Though thinner and less powerful than the Fierce Tide, they still made Yun Yang’s heart jump, as their target was the sniper team's position. These individuals didn't have spacetime shields, and even for a special god body like Yun Yang, taking several main cannon shots head-on wouldn't be pleasant, let alone for Qi Lin or the second-generation angels.
Without a second thought, he grabbed Qi Lin and teleported away from their original position. The angels followed suit, though they used flight. Ge Xiaolun also dragged Liu Chuang away in a desperate dash. Only one person remained: Angel Leng, who stood her ground, seemingly intent on showing off her skills.
In an instant, the beams arrived. Angel Leng danced like a butterfly in a field of flowers. Watching from afar, Yun Yang couldn't help but think of the saying: "Passing through a hundred flowers, not a single petal touches the body." Just as he marveled at her grace, another beam followed—the enemy was actually laying down suppression fire. Because he had been too focused on Angel Leng’s movements, it was too late to escape. Yun Yang could see the reluctance and despair in Qi Lin’s eyes.
However, Yun Yang felt no fear. He set up a wormhole corridor around Qi Lin as a barrier, stood directly in front of her, and quickly placed another corridor behind himself to offset some of the impact.
Just as he finished, the main cannon beams hit. The wormhole corridor shattered instantly, and the massive influx of information nearly caused Yun Yang’s brain to crash. But "nearly" was the key; his mind was still functioning. To fully shield her, Yun Yang shrank the wormhole corridor so that Qi Lin was curled up inside, then held her tight. As he did this, the main cannon fire slammed into him.
Like last time, they were sent flying by the beam. The difference was that Yun Yang felt no pain; only his dark energy was depleting rapidly. A soft blue light emanated from his body, the energy neutralizing the damage. The same main cannon fire that had nearly killed him last time couldn't even make him feel pain this time.
Thirty seconds later, the main cannon’s energy was exhausted. Qi Lin, huddled inside the wormhole corridor, felt the pressure around her vanish. With her eyes tightly shut, she had braced for death and couldn't stop her body from trembling. Yun Yang, meanwhile, felt his lip twitch—his black armor behind him had been damaged again, leaving his backside exposed. It was chilly and very uncomfortable. Ignoring Qi Lin, who was still curled up, he transported the Void Silver armor Keisha had given him onto his body, avoiding any further embarrassment.
Qi Lin waited for a long time, and when the imagined heat didn't come, she looked up and opened her eyes to see what had happened. She saw Yun Yang in silver armor standing before her, the thick beams of light gone. She had survived. Tears instantly filled her eyes. That feeling of helplessness had been terrifying, and the joy of surviving was unimaginable. Caught between sorrow and joy, she couldn't stop the tears as she smiled and said, "We survived."
"Yeah, we survived." Looking at Qi Lin, who was crying and smiling with lingering fear in her eyes, Yun Yang instinctively flicked her nose. He swore he had meant to pat her head, but unfortunately, she was wearing a helmet, which lacked the right feel, so he had done that instead...
Qi Lin was stunned by his sudden action. Her tears stopped, her smile froze, and she stared fixedly into Yun Yang’s eyes. After two seconds of eye contact, Yun Yang lost his nerve and looked away. Qi Lin then smiled again, stood up, ruffled Yun Yang’s hair vigorously, and said, "Little brother, daring to tease your big sister now?"
"Cough, cough. Time to fight." Yun Yang coughed dryly, ignored the comment, and changed the subject.
"Hmph, I'll deal with you later. Once I see Rose, you're finished." Qi Lin wrinkled her nose and threatened him by bringing up Rose. She sensed that their intimacy had been a bit too much just now. Yun Yang already had Rose, and she couldn't be the "bad person." Any such budding feelings should be nipped in the bud, after all—she only saw Yun Yang as a little brother; he was a bit too young and immature to be a lover.
Yun Yang didn't have any particular thoughts about Qi Lin; it was just an instinctive reaction to seeing something cute, though he did feel comfortable being around her.
In that brief moment, the Taotie fleet arrived, dark and oppressive, filling their entire field of vision. Yun Yang initially felt a surge of excitement—he wanted to go cut down some capital ships. But then he remembered he had lent his King Sword to Ge Xiaolun, and his expression sagged. He grabbed Qi Lin and teleported to the top of the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Ge Xiaolun, Liu Chuang, and the angels had already charged into the fleet, slaughtering their way through to draw out the enemy’s high-end combatants. Ge Xiaolun was the most active of them all. Based on Yun Yang’s experience, he specifically targeted frigates without shields, with a swarm of small Taotie gunships trailing behind him.
But the guy didn't care. If he could dodge, he would; if he couldn't, he just tanked the hits with his head, not even sparing the gunships a glance. By the time he reached the fifth frigate, he had the "honor" of being the focus of a missile barrage. Countless missiles, trailing long plumes of fire, struck the jumping Ge Xiaolun. That wasn't all—before the smoke cleared, thousands of gunships poured shells into the area like they were free. Though there was no sound, the flashes of light were constant.
As Ah Zhui called for help in the channel, the angels flew to the rescue, and Qi Lin provided covering fire. After destroying a few gunships, she stopped; she felt it was too slow and ineffective. She turned to look at Yun Yang, her eyes conveying the message: "You can teleport, why aren't you helping?"
Yun Yang somehow understood this complex look perfectly. He shrugged and said, "Xiaolun is tough. Don't look at the scale of the attack; he’s probably just a bit disheveled, not even a scratch on him. My main task is to protect a little fragile thing like you."
Hearing Yun Yang call her "fragile," Qi Lin felt a surge of irritation. She stomped on his foot and muttered, "You're the fragile one! You're a fragile roast pig, a fragile piece of pork belly!"
Yun Yang didn't get angry at this; instead, he swallowed hard. He responded to her words with an action that showed he wanted to eat exactly that.
Before the angels could arrive, the Taotie gunships stopped their attack, waiting for the smoke to clear to confirm if the guy was dead. Just then, a black shadow darted out of the smoke, rushed toward the nearest frigate, and as they crossed paths, the frigate was cut in half at the waist.
Watching Ge Xiaolun’s movements, Yun Yang felt envious. That should have been his kill count! He should have rejected this support mission from the start. Let Ge Xiaolun be the support while he provided the damage! The task of guarding the sniper should be left to the tank.
Watching the angels and Ge Xiaolun flying all over the place, Liu Chuang had a thousand profanities in his heart. Was this something a human could do? Leaving him here, the only one who couldn't fly? Finally, after much deliberation, Liu Chuang decided to call for backup.
"Yang, hurry and teleport me onto a flagship. I want to go on a rampage."
Because Liu Chuang had spoken on the public channel, Qi Lin heard him too. Before Yun Yang could speak, she gestured for him to go and come back quickly.
With a blink, he was at Liu Chuang’s side, and with another, he was at the flagship's shield. He lit up the shield with a strike and vanished, reappearing inside the flagship. The entire process took less than ten seconds. Liu Chuang stared blankly at the spot where Yun Yang had just been standing—now empty—and let out a swear word to express his shock.
"Holy cow!"
Returning to his support position, Yun Yang signaled for Qi Lin to help Liu Chuang so he could successfully capture the ship.
