Chapter 111: Wielding the Sword

"High Commander, we have located the Heavenly Blade 7. They are waiting for us in Saturn's orbit." A Heavenly Scum reported to Su Mali, who was lounging lazily in his chair.

Upon hearing this, Su Mali perked up, waving his hand to have the technician pull up a projection of the Heavenly Blade 7. Seeing only a single, isolated vessel in the display, a cruel smile spread across Su Mali's face.

"These female angels are truly arrogant, daring to challenge our fleet of twenty main flagships with just one Heavenly Blade. It seems the King's mission will be easily accomplished."

"Congratulations, High Commander," the Heavenly Scum replied respectfully.

"Very well. Detach fifteen main flagships to feign an attack, and after the first wave of fire, have the remaining five charge in to capture those little angels alive." Su Mali assigned the combat roles, then made an excited, fist-clenching gesture.

Once the combat orders were issued, the morale of the Glutton fleet soared; having followed Shi Hao through many victories, the captains of the various flagships scrambled for the honor of being in the first wave. This made Su Mali think slightly better of the Gluttons. After all, the first wave would inevitably suffer heavy casualties, yet they were so eager for battle. No commander could dislike warriors who were so willing to face death.

However, it was only a fleeting thought. They were still destined to be cannon fodder; besides acting as bait, they could accomplish nothing against the Angel Nebula. It would be better to cause more slaughter on Earth to appease the King’s frustration over his previous rejection. And then there was the Power of the Galaxy—daring to ambush him. Although the King had specifically warned him to be careful, with his current strength and his Void Engine, killing him shouldn't be a problem.

As the Gluttons arrayed their formation, the advanced technology of the Heavenly Blade 7 captured the scene in real-time. Looking at the dense swarm of large and small spacecraft, the pressure was palpable. After all, they only had the one Heavenly Blade 7 and a few small aerospace planes; they had absolutely no numerical advantage.

Even their number of super-warriors was not superior. Their only advantage was that the super-warriors on Earth were mostly of special models. The Gluttons had no super-warriors, only a few Void mechs, but their control range was limited and could be destroyed by ordinary fighters if they kept their distance. The Heavenly Scum were all second-generation super-warriors, but they were mass-produced, much like standard first or second-generation Angel scouts, possessing almost no special capabilities. However, they were rich in combat experience, mostly veterans who had survived the Battle of the Wrathful Sea; in close-quarters combat, the Earth side would be at a significant disadvantage.

Three hours later, fifteen thick, crimson beams streaked across the void and slammed into the Heavenly Blade 7’s space-time shield. Ripples spread across the barrier, refusing to subside. Watching from the command center, Su Mali felt a slight jolt of surprise. He knew the power of the Gluttons' "Fierce Tide," and to see it fail to shatter the shield was unexpected, though the violent ripples suggested the barrier was nearing its limit.

Thinking this, Su Mali immediately ordered, "Fire the remaining five Fierce Tide beams. There’s no point in hoarding energy."

Following his command, five more bat-shaped craft moved away from the flagship moorings, hovered briefly, and unleashed another volley of thick, crimson light.

On the Heavenly Blade 7, the Earth personnel stared tensely at the shield, terrified it might shatter in the blink of an eye. After all, the angels had already explained that this was the Gluttons' "Fierce Tide," the same weapon used to level Luoyang—and that had been just a single beam. Now, fifteen had hit at once. How could they not be nervous? More importantly, to the eyes of the Earth crew, the shield appeared to be at its breaking point. Among them was the Black Troop, who gripped their weapons tightly, faces filled with hatred. This was the very thing that had razed Luoyang to the ground.

After watching for a while, Yun Yang nudged Qing Xue beside him and asked, "Qing Xue, this shield looks like it’s struggling. It won’t break, will it?"

Qing Xue rolled her eyes at Yun Yang’s question and replied, "I love how ignorant you are. An attack of this magnitude uses at most three percent of the Heavenly Blade 7’s computing power, so..."

There was no need to finish the sentence. In Qing Xue's view, anyone who couldn't understand that was a fool, and clearly, there were no fools here. Yun Yang felt his heart lighten.

Suddenly, five more beams struck the Heavenly Blade 7. The space-time shield rippled even more violently, and the blue crystal overhead emitted a blinding light. Yun Yang glanced at the crystal and asked, "Are you sure it’s okay?"

Qing Xue cast him a sidelong glance, signaling she had no desire to answer such an intelligence-lowering question, which left Yun Yang feeling somewhat awkward.

Shortly after, the beams dissipated. Angel Zhao signaled for Ge Xiaolun to step onto the dais. Guessing what was coming, Ge Xiaolun flew up, looking at Zhao with anticipation. Sensing his gaze, Zhao pursed her lips and chuckled. "Exactly as you thought. The energy from those twenty beams has been absorbed by the space-time shield, enough to release one full-power Heavenly Blade Judgment."

Ge Xiaolun was stunned—was such a thing even possible? He didn't care how it worked; he just wanted to take another swing at the Glutton fleet. Following Zhao’s command, the angels at the consoles went into motion.

"Interstellar projection active. Space link established. Spatial coordinates locked. Energy support enabled."

As the angel reported, projections of the Glutton flagships appeared around Ge Xiaolun, along with the sword he had used before.

"Please, wield this sword once more! Wherever the blade passes, the Heavenly Blade shall strike!" Zhao announced loudly, clenching her fist.

Ge Xiaolun grinned with excitement. He studied the layout of the Glutton fleet and, noticing two ships positioned close together, turned to ask, "Can I cut two with one swing?"

"You can," Zhao nodded in affirmation.

"Then cut a few more!" Lian Feng, setting aside concerns about civilization points, said coldly.

Ge Xiaolun nodded firmly, gripped the longsword, assumed a swinging stance, and shouted, "Watch this!"

His blade slashed through the air, cutting directly through the projections of two Glutton flagships. In the actual Glutton fleet, a sword of destructive flame appeared. Before the Gluttons could react or issue commands, it slashed violently through the two targeted flagships. The ships exploded instantly, taking a large number of smaller craft with them and turning a vast stretch of space into debris.

This cataclysmic sight terrified Su Mali, who shuddered and cursed, "Those little bitches, what kind of black technology is that?"

After calming down, he ordered the Heavenly Scum to withdraw from the Glutton fleet, fearing that another such strike would wipe them all out.

On the Heavenly Blade 7, the Black Troop erupted in cheers. Yun Yang and Liu Chuang rubbed their hands, eager to experience the thrill of ship-slashing themselves.

"Xiaolun, ask if you can do it again. I want to try," Yun Yang sent a private dark-communication to Ge Xiaolun.

Ge Xiaolun was taken aback but quickly replied, "Sure. If you can, lend me the King’s Sword to play with for a few days."

Yun Yang didn't hesitate: "Deal. Lend it to you after this fight."

"That won't work. I want to use it now. I'll trade you my Great Sword." Realizing Yun Yang didn't quite grasp his meaning, Ge Xiaolun explained, adding his Void Great Sword as a sweetener, considering it wouldn't be convenient for Yun Yang to fight without a weapon.

Yun Yang looked at the two halves of the destroyed Glutton flagships and nodded firmly in agreement. Seeing this, Ge Xiaolun didn't hesitate and turned to Zhao: "There are still quite a few main flagships left. Can we use stellar energy for a few more strikes?"

Zhao checked the results calculated by the database and said, "It is possible. If we don't account for stellar degradation, we can release three more Heavenly Blade Judgments. Anything more will cause stellar anomalies, which will cause some trouble for Earth, though nothing fatal."

"What if I strike three times?" Ge Xiaolun asked.

"If it’s only three times, it will only shorten the lifespan of the Red Sun by less than a thousand years."

Ge Xiaolun thought, a thousand years? That should be nothing to a star. "That’s fine. I’ll do it again. There are just too many of them."

Just as Zhao signaled to continue the energy support, Lian Feng suddenly spoke up: "No. We have the Heavenly Blade 7—a combat celestial body. We are already in an invincible position; there is no need to waste the star's lifespan."

Hearing this, Ge Xiaolun reluctantly lowered his sword and gave Yun Yang a look that said, "I tried."

Yun Yang retracted the King’s Sword back into his dark plane and gave Ge Xiaolun a look that said, "Forget it," before turning his gaze away.

Ge Xiaolun’s eye twitched. He looked at the longsword in his hand, a light flashing in his eyes as a bold idea formed.

"Sister Zhao, this sword... can I take it out and use it?" Ge Xiaolun asked, his voice filled with flattery and his eyes brimming with expectation.

"What do you want it for? It’s a ceremonial sword. It can’t even perform a Flame Bombardment; it’s just a symbol of status." Zhao looked puzzled at first, then glanced at the Void Great Sword on Ge Xiaolun’s back. Realizing his intent, she covered her mouth and chuckled, ruthlessly shattering his little fantasy.
