Chapter 105: Keeping Pace and At Ease
Chapter 105: Keeping Up and Taking It Easy
Although Old Li gulped down his drink repeatedly, the three of them ended up finishing only one bottle, half of which Yun Yang drank himself.
As the two of them walked out of the tent, Yun Yang rubbed his chin and said, "One bottle for three people? Old Li isn't pulling his weight. We'll have to get him drunk next time."
"That wine didn't taste good," Qingxue said, clutching her forehead upon hearing Yun Yang's words.
"It didn't? I thought it was quite fragrant," Yun Yang wondered aloud.
"It wasn't. It was too spicy," Qingxue said firmly.
"It's fine. We'll drink less next time, and I'll be the one to get Old Li drunk," Yun Yang promised, thumping his chest. He made it clear that while they could drink less, they couldn't skip it entirely.
When Yun Yang returned to his courtyard house and had just taken off his coat, Ge Xiaolun walked in.
"Xiaolun, what's up?" Yun Yang asked.
"Look, Yangzi, when we fight the Heavenly Scum in two days, try not to intervene too much. I want to show off the true glory of the Power of the Galaxy," Ge Xiaolun said, looking a bit embarrassed.
"Say what? I only have one King's Sword, and you've got the Hero Core—one is for single targets, the other for area of effect. Does missing out on one or two Heavenly Scum really affect your ability to show off?" Yun Yang asked in disbelief.
Ge Xiaolun looked awkward. He had been playing with the King's Sword all this time and had completely forgotten about the Hero Core. He had only been thinking about how he wanted to use his Void Greatsword to hack people in a couple of days, and he was worried he wouldn't be able to compete with Yun Yang for kills. That was the reason for his request.
"I need to kill a few more. Today, that brat Zhao Xin fed me so much dog food I nearly choked. I want to show off my combat achievements to Yan," Ge Xiaolun said, his face filled with longing, looking like a man lovesick.
Hearing Ge Xiaolun's explanation, Yun Yang gave him a look that said, "I get it." He patted Ge Xiaolun on the shoulder and said earnestly, "Xiaolun, how can one think of home when the Xiongnu are not yet defeated?"
Yun Yang's sudden quote left Ge Xiaolun stunned. The war was coming, and yet he was still preoccupied with romantic feelings—he had been like that before, and he still was now. No, this wouldn't do.
"Right. How can one think of home when the Taotie are not yet defeated?" Ge Xiaolun nodded, his tone heavy.
Seeing that Ge Xiaolun had really gotten into character, Yun Yang conjured up a pile of food as if by magic—all vacuum-packed items—brought out the remaining wine, and said, "A drink before battle, everything follows after. Xiaolun, contact Zhao Xin, Liu Chuang, and Master Yi. Let's have a drink together."
Ge Xiaolun nodded, brushed the vacuum-packed chicken and duck aside, and with a wave of his hand, a pile of hotpot ingredients appeared.
Yun Yang looked at Ge Xiaolun with envy. This was just too convenient—to have whatever he wanted. This ability was practically a bug; if he could understand it, he could manifest it.
Ge Xiaolun noticed Yun Yang's gaze, chuckled, and with another wave of his hand, a bar of gold—no, a gold brick—appeared.
Seeing Yun Yang's eyes nearly pop out of their sockets, Ge Xiaolun tossed the gold brick into his arms and said, "Yangzi, this is a red envelope for your family. When you have a nephew or niece later, I'll give you a few more."
Yun Yang wore the expression of someone looking at a nouveau riche, his envy plain to see, but he still remarked, "We're soldiers; even if we have money, we have nowhere to spend it."
As he spoke, he tucked the gold brick into his dark plane, feeling like he finally had his "wife fund" ready. After all, what was a little dowry for Qiangwei compared to this?
After that topic passed, Ge Xiaolun thought for a moment and said, "Should we call the girls too? We haven't had a get-together in a long time."
"Right, that's a good idea. Who knows how long this fight will last? Let's call them," Yun Yang agreed.
Two hours later, inside Xiao Yi's virtual space, in the villa living room.
The members of the Super Soldier Company were sitting around the table Ge Xiaolun had just manifested. As for why they were in the virtual space, it was because Xiao Yi had requested it herself.
Yun Yang also felt he had been neglecting Xiao Yi a bit; he only talked to her every day and hadn't been to the villa for a long time.
Seeing so many people arrive today, Xiao Yi was a bit shy, even though it was her own request.
However, shy as she was, her adorable appearance made her an instant favorite among the girls. Fair, slender hands kept reaching out to pinch her flushed cheeks.
Yun Yang watched with twitching eyelids, his expression sour. Clearly, he was remembering some less-than-pleasant memories.
Xiao Yi, however, felt no discomfort, calling out "big sister" to everyone with a voice as sweet as honey.
Look at Leina—she had already started rubbing her face against her.
Before long, Ge Xiaolun finished preparing the food. He looked at the girls chatting with Xiao Yi and the boys bragging to each other, and he shed silent tears in his heart. It turned out he was the only one doing any work. Annoyed, he said, "Alright, alright, time to eat!"
Everyone looked up, saw the massive yin-yang hotpot in the center and the dazzling array of dishes on the table, and took their seats with lightning speed, leaving Ge Xiaolun stunned.
"Hard liquor or beer?" Liu Chuang asked the boys, acting bold and unrefined.
The boys exchanged glances and spoke in unison: "Beer."
Liu Chuang laughed and cursed, "Get out of here. Is it even right to drink beer?"
Yun Yang retorted, "If you knew it wasn't right, why ask? Are you stupid, Chuangzi?"
Ignoring the retort, Liu Chuang turned his attention to the girls. He asked the same question, but his tone was much gentler: "Hard liquor or beer?"
The girls also looked at each other and said together: "Beer for two, hard liquor for three."
Qi Lin, Wei Ying, and Su Xiaoli didn't speak, but Leina, He Weilan, and Li Feifei insisted on hard liquor, while Zhi Xin and Rui Mengmeng wanted beer.
Liu Chuang’s mouth moved faster than his brain: "Minority obeys the majority. Hard liquor it is."
The boys looked at Liu Chuang in surprise, and the girls who hadn't asked for hard liquor glared at him resentfully.
Noticing their looks, Liu Chuang realized his mistake. He put down the hard liquor, brought out beer instead, and signaled that they could have that.
"No, we said hard liquor, so it's hard liquor," Leina insisted, stopping Liu Chuang.
Liu Chuang could only look at the other girls again, but they all gave him a "you figure it out" look.
Liu Chuang understood. He pressed his finger down, capped the bottles he’d just opened, and pulled four bottles of hard liquor from under the table, signaling that the eight of them could share them.
The boys, meanwhile, were self-aware, each grabbing a bottle and pouring their own drinks.
What's that? You ask what Xiao Yi was drinking? Ge Xiaolun had already prepared milk and juice for her; there was no need to worry.
Once they started eating, Ge Xiaolun stood up and said, "It's been almost two years since we started fighting. It hasn't been easy. I won't say anything else—let's drink."
With that, he downed a full glass. Seeing him drink like that, everyone else turned green. Zhao Xin swallowed hard and asked, "Xiaolun, isn't that a bit too fast?"
Ge Xiaolun nodded, agreeing it was a bit fast, then added, "Ladies, take it easy. Gentlemen, keep up."
He sat down and stared intently at his glass. The other men had no choice but to bite the bullet and down their glasses.
As for the girls, although they were told to take it easy, they couldn't just have a sip, so they followed suit and drank half a glass.
Half a glass of hard liquor later, every exquisite face was flushed with red. Su Xiaoli and Rui Mengmeng, perhaps unused to it, were coughing and choking.
Everyone burst into laughter. Leina even gave them some earnest advice to practice more, otherwise, only drinking beer would be boring.
After three rounds of drinks and five courses, Yun Yang looked at the people slumped over the table.
He caught the eye of Zhao Xin, who had just lifted his head, and gave him a "you're ruthless" look.
This guy actually got his own wife drunk—there really was no one like him.
The two consulted and decided, for the sake of their brother's happiness, to carry Liu Chuang and He Weilan into a room and dump them on the same bed. As long as Liu Chuang wasn't dead by tomorrow, he should be able to claim a wife.
As Yun Yang and Zhao Xin walked out, both wore smiles of "helping others." As for what would happen if he died, they figured they wouldn't be the ones cremating him.
Back in the living room, Yun Yang looked at Ge Xiaolun, who was passed out on the table, and decided to let the beauties be helped first. Ge Xiaolun was a big man; he wouldn't catch a cold sleeping for a while longer.
Zhao Xin supported Leina, and Yun Yang supported Rui Mengmeng. They looked at each other, and the following conversation took place.
Zhao Xin: "Yangzi, remember last time?"
Yun Yang: "My neck still hurts; how could I forget?"
Zhao Xin: "How about we...?"
Yun Yang: "Hehe, I think we can."
They began to analyze: Leina had a god-body and could be at the bottom, Mengmeng second, and so on. Qi Lin's body was the least durable, so she should be on top.
Before long, they finished their work. With Qi Lin and Zhi Xin left, Ge Xiaolun had already taken care of the others.
Zhao Xin said: "I'll leave Qi Lin to you. I'm taking my wife back first."
"Yeah, go ahead," Yun Yang said, rubbing his temples.
"Right, we're leaving now. Xiao Yi." With those final words, Zhao Xin and Zhi Xin disappeared from the virtual space.
Yun Yang sat for a while to ease his dizziness, then stood up and walked toward Qi Lin.
Just as Yun Yang lifted her up, her closed eyes suddenly snapped open. She looked at the approaching Yun Yang in horror, pushed him away, and bolted toward the bathroom.
Listening to the sound of vomiting from the bathroom, Yun Yang touched his face, suddenly not so confident in his own handsomeness.
No, wait. Could it be that the angel sisters had bad taste? Unlikely. That must mean it was just because Qi Lin had been drinking.
So, Yun Yang poured a glass of warm water and waited by the door for Qi Lin to come out.
