Bai Feiyu walked off in another direction, for the scene was simply too unsettling. Not far away, Li Yihuan’s agonized screams echoed endlessly, chilling Bai Feiyu to the bone. Yet he felt no sympathy for Li Yihuan; such a person was not worth pity. As for whether Li Yihuan could survive the attack of the Rainbow Python—most likely, he would not.

Mountains rolled in the distance, shrouded by clouds and mist. The secret realm was picturesque, like a land of immortals, but Bai Feiyu had no inclination to admire the scenery. His sole purpose now was to scavenge attributes and grow stronger.

He had read countless novels in his previous life and knew well that as the protagonist, trouble would surely come looking for him in droves.

“Hey, fellow disciple, wait a moment!” As Bai Feiyu wandered about, a voice suddenly called out. Turning, he saw a youth with sharp ears and a monkey-like face greeting him.

“Is there something you need?” Bai Feiyu asked.

This fellow, though not as handsome as himself, at least didn’t seem to be here to cause trouble.

“Brother, training alone in the secret realm?” The monkey-faced youth approached warmly, throwing an arm around Bai Feiyu’s shoulder in a carefree manner.

Bai Feiyu frowned and brushed the arm away, moving two meters off and eyeing the youth warily. “Brother, what is it?”

So forward—could this guy have some unusual preference? Bai Feiyu wondered.

“Don’t be nervous, brother, I mean no harm!” The youth, mistaking Bai Feiyu’s caution for suspicion, grinned slyly. “Let me introduce myself. My name is Bai Xiaofei. Little brother, you’re wandering alone in this secret realm—no companions?”

He rushed to clarify, fearing Bai Feiyu might misunderstand. “You don’t need to worry. I’m not here to rob you. We’re both outer sect disciples—it’s not easy for any of us. I see you’re here alone; it must be hard to catch any good beasts by yourself.”

“A single chopstick breaks easily; a bundle is hard to snap. You know that principle, right?” Bai Xiaofei said confidently. “Here’s the deal: I’ve got an opportunity for riches, just short of manpower. You’re in luck—join us, and it’ll be better than fighting alone.”

This pitch, Bai Xiaofei had refined through countless attempts. Though an outer sect disciple, he’d been here for years and understood their mentality well. Now, offering an olive branch, he reckoned this kid would find it hard to resist.

Bai Feiyu glanced at Bai Xiaofei and instantly understood. Though Bai Xiaofei masked his intentions well, nothing falls from the sky without reason—this opportunity had to come with a motive.

But Bai Feiyu wasn’t concerned. As a man blessed with a golden finger, he needn’t fear Bai Xiaofei. Moreover, in a secret realm, sudden encounters usually meant either robbery, passing by, or cooperation. Robbery and passing by were ruled out. If the other party wanted to cooperate, there must be some fortune to gain.

Bai Feiyu cared little for beasts or promised rewards; what he sought was only attribute points.

He promptly feigned lowering his guard, adopting a puzzled yet eager demeanor, rubbing his hands as he asked Bai Xiaofei, “So that’s how it is, brother. What’s this opportunity for riches?”

“Oh, right, I forgot to introduce myself. Brother, it’s fate—we share the same surname. I’m Bai Feiyu. Who knows, maybe centuries ago we were family!” Bai Feiyu replied with a false smile.

“That’s more like it!” Bai Xiaofei, seeing Bai Feiyu take the bait, flashed a cunning grin and again threw his arm around him. “As a seasoned outer sect disciple, I’ve had some luck. By chance, I made friends with an inner sect disciple in this secret realm.”

“Not long ago, the two of us found the lair of a Scarlet Flame Tiger. The trouble is, this beast is hard to deal with.”

“The inner sect brother’s plan is as follows: Find someone trustworthy to help out. He’ll distract the Scarlet Flame Tiger, whose lair contains a litter of cubs. Young tigers have little fighting power, so the two of us can handle them. While he lures the adult away, we slip into the lair, grab a cub, and flee.”

“He’ll get rid of the adult tiger and meet up with us later. There are eight tiger cubs in total. You get one. How about it? One cub is already generous—if you worked with someone else, you might only get a single bone!”

Bai Xiaofei coaxed him patiently.

Bai Feiyu, hearing this, had a rough idea. This guy was clearly a useless outer sect disciple, a few years older than himself, yet still stuck in the outer sect.

Even more laughable, he had the nerve to beautify his status as a “seasoned” disciple—wasn’t that just a perennial loser?

“Excellent, brother! I’m truly grateful. Meeting you in this life is my good fortune..." Bai Feiyu exclaimed enthusiastically.

He cared little for the tiger cubs themselves, but picking up their attribute points was another matter. The Scarlet Flame Tiger, as a beast, grew powerful in adulthood; its cubs were born with strong bones. If he could collect their attributes, it would be excellent for his own physique—so Bai Feiyu had no reason to refuse.

“Good, let’s go. I’ll take you to meet the inner sect brother. From now on, we’re brothers. I’ll watch your back—you’ll enjoy the best food and drink in the sect, and with an inner sect brother supporting us, we’ll walk tall!” Bai Xiaofei’s eyes nearly disappeared from his broad smile.

He’d thought it would take effort to dispel this fellow’s doubts, but seeing Bai Feiyu’s naïve look, he was delighted to have found a perfect... cooperative partner!

With a reliable partner, the inner sect brother might look upon him more favorably—perhaps even promote him in the future. Then everything would be wonderful, and his status in the outer sect would soar; becoming an inner sect disciple was not beyond reach...

Bai Xiaofei indulged in pleasant dreams, unaware that Bai Feiyu, too, had his own purpose.
