Chapter 26: People from the Minor Sect
At this moment, Bai Feiyu, who had been troubled for so long, finally saw a glimmer of hope and had at last found a clue. As long as he could grasp this lead, slaying Li Zikun would not be an issue!
When Bai Feiyu asked, the woman shook her head, a hint of desolation flickering in her eyes.
Bai Feiyu frowned. “You still refuse to speak?”
“No, no, Immortal, you misunderstand!” The woman shook her head vigorously, like a rattling drum. “It’s not that we don't wish to tell you; it’s simply that we know very little about Li Zikun. As for the location of his lair—don’t mention us, I doubt anyone besides his disciples knows where it is.”
Her words made Bai Feiyu feel a renewed sense of difficulty. After so much effort, he had finally found a tiny clue, only for it to break. Merely knowing why the villagers refused to divulge information was of little use.
“I hope what I’ve told you can offer some assistance. But there is one thing we are certain of—Li Zikun’s cultivation of wicked arts compels him to attack villages.”
“Li Zikun is cunning. Whenever he emerges, he sends his followers along, capturing villagers from every village. This creates confusion, making it impossible to tell which one is truly him.”
Hearing her explanation, Bai Feiyu gave a cold laugh.
So, this rogue knows that the Gui Xu Sect currently lacks the capacity to deal with him and wishes to seize the opportunity to profit. If the Gui Xu Sect begins to intervene, he’ll abandon these chaotic mountains without hesitation.
Bringing so many followers to muddy the waters reveals his fear of the Gui Xu Sect.
With these thoughts, Bai Feiyu bowed deeply to the woman and said,
“Thank you for your information tonight. Rest assured, since our Gui Xu Sect has sent someone, Li Zikun will not escape destruction.”
“Be at ease. Sooner or later, Li Zikun will pay for his blood debts in blood.”
Hearing Bai Feiyu’s forceful promise, the couple nodded repeatedly, hope rising in their hearts after so much despair.
The Gui Xu Sect had not forgotten them.
So long as this Immortal from the Gui Xu Sect remained, Li Zikun would inevitably meet his end.
...
After leaving the couple’s home, Bai Feiyu knitted his brows and strode deeper into the Chaotic Ministers Mountains.
The mountains were vast. To avoid alarming the secular world, it was impossible to dispatch powerful elders or large numbers of disciples for a sweeping investigation.
If the Gui Xu Sect were truly determined to annihilate Li Zikun, then no matter how capable he was, he would not escape.
Yet, the Gui Xu Sect’s domain extended far beyond these mountains; the world was plagued with countless evil cultivators.
It was simply impossible to control them all.
Helpless, Bai Feiyu plunged into the depths of the mountains and began hunting the monsters there.
If nothing else, he could at least cull some of the beasts to improve the villagers’ lives.
Of course, that was only part of it. The true reason was Bai Feiyu’s eagerness to strengthen himself...
The greatest advantage of his Attribute Collection System was that even away from the great sects and their resources, Bai Feiyu could grow stronger by collecting the attributes of the monsters he slew.
Thus began his relentless hunt.
...
Four days slipped by.
“Boom—”
After Bai Feiyu slew a blood wolf bare-handed in the forest, his aura soared.
In an instant, Bai Feiyu stepped into the realm of Grand Qi.
At this moment, his entire body radiated a terrifying aura; deep within his eyes, sparks seemed to flicker.
“If I were to face Ziyan now, she’d find it impossible to gain any advantage!” Bai Feiyu murmured to himself.
By his estimation, Ziyan, though formidable, was only at the seventh or eighth level of Grand Qi.
Of course, Ziyan’s age and cultivation were remarkable, and though she joined the inner sect before him, Bai Feiyu reckoned she was only a year or two older.
Now, Bai Feiyu possessed the means to confront Li Zikun directly.
However, Li Zikun’s continued absence troubled him greatly.
“Stop! Are you from the Gui Xu Sect?”
A voice barked from behind. Bai Feiyu turned and saw several cultivators standing there.
The leader appeared to be at the fifth level of Grand Qi; the others were all similarly advanced.
After probing them, Bai Feiyu concluded these were survivors of a recently destroyed minor sect.
After all, Bai Feiyu sensed none of the aura of wicked arts from them. Though their faces were fierce, they were certainly not evil cultivators.
Who else remained in the Chaotic Ministers Mountains besides those rebels?
“You must be the rebels of the Gui Xu Sect!” Bai Feiyu chuckled calmly, standing firm, showing no intention of fleeing.
Seeing Bai Feiyu’s composure, the leader sneered.
“Gui Xu Sect has some nerve, sending a disciple who has just entered Grand Qi to slay Li Zikun.”
“I wonder if the sect sent you here to die on purpose. With your cultivation, you’re nothing before Li Zikun, who is at the ninth level of Grand Qi.”
“You’ve guessed our identity, so stop calling us rebels.”
“We’re here for one reason: you’re young and talented. We invite you to join our sect.”
“Since the Gui Xu Sect has cast you aside, sent you to die, why not stop risking your life for them?”
“Join us. One day, our sect will counterattack the Gui Xu Sect, and when that day comes, we’ll avenge your grievances!”
He spoke at length, attempting to indoctrinate Bai Feiyu and persuade him to join.
In his eyes, Bai Feiyu had no other option; joining their sect was the only viable path.
“Join your sect? Counterattack Gui Xu Sect? Even at your sect’s peak, you couldn’t withstand a fraction of the power the Gui Xu Sect could spare while under siege.”
“Now, in your decline, you dream of counterattacking? How laughable!”
Bai Feiyu’s expression was amused, his contempt and disdain plain in his eyes.
“You’re courting death!”
Upon hearing this, the leader flew into a rage, waving his hand. The disciples surged toward Bai Feiyu, pressing in menacingly.
After so many years, he had never encountered such an insolent disciple.
No wonder Bai Feiyu had been ostracized within the Gui Xu Sect and sent here to die—anyone with such a temperament would inevitably offend others.
...
