Chapter 117 — Mind Reading Technique
“Ladies and gentlemen, the plane is about to take off. Please adjust your seatbacks and stow your tray tables. Thank you for your cooperation.”
The aircraft began to taxi slowly.
Everyone leaned back calmly in their seats.
The man behind Lin Chong, wearing sunglasses, put them back on lazily, crossing his legs and even softly humming a tune, as if he had already dismissed the conversation that had just involved the two of them.
“Xiao Ran, don’t be too nervous. This might be the inevitable calamity you have to face in this lifetime,”
Mu Ran leaned against her seat and turned her head toward the man holding a cup of water in both hands. She let out a cold snort, her fox-like eyes flashing with a dangerous light. Her gaze lingered on the cup for a moment, her tone flat and eerily calm, “Who wouldn’t be nervous knowing they’re about to meet disaster? Like you two fools leisurely enjoying yourselves?”
As she spoke, her sharp gaze shifted to the man with sunglasses.
Ever since sitting down, that man’s lecherous eyes had been fixed on her. He had even poked a hole in the newspaper he was holding.
Who exactly was this man?
What was he after?
“Who else is the fool here?”
Lin Chong set down his cup and followed the woman’s gaze. “Sir, I know you’re a psychologist from the Imperial Capital, but could you please stop looking at us like patients? It’s really unsettling!”
“How do you know I’m a psychologist?”
The man with sunglasses suddenly sat up straight. Had he been that obvious?
Lin Chong shook his head and turned away. “By calculation, you must possess some unique ability.”
“Mind reading? Mu Ran still doesn’t believe it,”
The man with sunglasses grew somewhat excited, ready to engage Lin Chong in conversation.
If this bald man knew about his mind-reading, then he surely wasn’t ordinary.
“Sir, the plane is taking off. Please return to your seat and fasten your seatbelt.”
A first-class flight attendant stepped in front of the man with sunglasses, her expression professionally stern but her tone gentle as she tried to persuade him.
“Brother Lin, your destined woman has appeared again...”
Mu Ran glanced at the flight attendant approaching behind them, her thin lips curling slightly. The tension in her expression eased a little.
Noticing the attendant’s guarded and rejecting demeanor, Mu Ran’s smile widened.
“But she seems really afraid of you.”
“Ma’am, would you like something to eat? Because the plane is ascending, service might be temporarily unavailable shortly.”
The flight attendant ignored the hopeful bald man and crouched down in front of Mu Ran, kindly addressing the cold and aloof woman before her.
“No, thank you.”
But the attendant showed no sign of leaving. “Mu Ran, I’m your fan. Could I get your autograph?”
“Of course. You’re very beautiful and have a great aura. If you ever want to leave the flight attendant industry, I could sign you to SY.”
“Really?”
The attendant stood excitedly, repeatedly checking if Mu Ran was serious or just teasing.
Mu Ran glanced at Lin Chong, who was staring intently at the flight attendant, a sly glint in her eyes. “Absolutely.”
The attendant, clutching the autograph, hurried away excitedly.
“Are you kidding, Xiao Ran? She didn’t even glance at me!”
Lin Chong blushed, nervously touching his bald head, sighing deeply. “Am I really that unappealing? Xiao Ran, help me out. I’ve been single for so many years and finally found my destined woman. Just now, I touched her wrist and glimpsed her fate. We’re a match made in heaven!”
“Do you really have time to talk about love now? If we die in this crash, you’ll be a lonely old bachelor for life!”
Mu Ran’s voice was colder than ice, her gaze sharp as a knife. Her hands gripped the armrests tightly, knuckles white.
“Is there any solution, Lin Chong? Once that flight attendant signs with SY, I’ll make you her manager.”
Lin Chong shook his head. “Forget the manager thing. As for saving this entire plane... the time hasn’t come yet. I can’t tell you.”
