Chapter 25: The Name of President Su
Lin Ye was truly taken aback this time. He stared at Zhang Wen in disbelief, asking with an expression of utter astonishment, "Where on earth did you get this information? Is it even real?"
Zhang Wen seemed to relish Lin Ye’s shock. He raised his eyebrows, looking quite smug, and replied, "Don’t worry about that. All I can tell you is that this information is eighty percent accurate."
Lin Ye’s eyes widened. Just as Zhang Wen expected him to be struck speechless by the news, Lin Ye spoke, his tone remarkably calm, even bordering on bored.
"Oh, I see. But what does that have to do with me?"
Zhang Wen arched a brow, exasperated. "Tsk! Do you have any idea how much of an impact this will have? It means it’s going to be very hard for you to climb the ladder, old Lin!"
Lin Ye looked bewildered, feeling a sudden urge to land a few solid punches on Zhang Wen’s face.
"Tsk, look at you! You’re young and blind to the benefits of a wealthy woman, mistaking a soft, naive girl for a treasure! If you manage to win over the General Manager, your future will be smooth sailing!"
Watching Lin Ye’s indifferent attitude, Zhang Wen was nearly frantic, as if it were his own career on the line rather than Lin Ye’s.
However, Lin Ye wasn't entirely unmoved. He pondered for a moment; if the General Manager really were Su Qing, the scenario Zhang Wen described was indeed tempting.
"Wait, didn't you say the previous secretary was a woman? Then how could I possibly 'win her over'?" Lin Ye keenly spotted the blind spot.
"Hey! Old Lin, you need to have more confidence in your looks! You know? You want to know where that confidence should come from? Just savor the thought—you’re the secretary. Just savor it, really savor it."
Zhang Wen’s voice seemed to carry a strange, magical allure, prompting Lin Ye to begin "savoring" it...
...by taking a sip of the tea in his cup.
Not bad. Green tea, quite fragrant.
"I’ll help you look up what our General Manager looks like. If she’s a great beauty, I’m telling you, old Lin, you’ve hit the jackpot! We don’t have high standards—someone like the person in the photo I showed you this morning would be just fine."
As he spoke, Zhang Wen began fiddling with his phone, his fingers dancing across the screen with lightning speed. Lin Ye never expected Zhang Wen to have such capabilities—he could even dig up a photo of the General Manager.
"No way, buddy, you can actually get your hands on this photo?"
"What are you talking about? Haven't you heard of Qichacha? It's a WeChat mini-program. You can search for company names to find owner information. Photos aren't guaranteed, but still—how can you be a salaryman and not know this?"
Upon hearing this, it dawned on Lin Ye that he had indeed heard of such mini-programs. In that case, couldn't he find out right now if this "General Manager Su" was actually Su Qing?
With an excited heart and trembling hands, he pulled out his phone and searched for the company name. Yet, he hesitated, unable to bring himself to press the search button.
Just then, Zhang Wen let out a long sigh. "Ugh, what a shame. I tried three different business lookup mini-programs and none of them had a photo."
Zhang Wen’s disappointment lasted less than a second, as he had already thought of a better plan. "I guess I’ll leave this for you to handle. Once you see what the General Manager looks like, remember to tell your brother all about it."
As he spoke, he patted Lin Ye on the shoulder as if entrusting him with a great mission. By pure coincidence, the force of the pat caused Lin Ye’s finger to tap the search button.
For Lin Ye, that one second of the loading screen felt as long as a lifetime.
Corporate Legal Representative: Su... Qi.
At that moment, even Lin Ye couldn't tell if he felt more disappointed or relieved.
After lunch, the two went to the 4S shop to retrieve the car, which had been serviced and detailed. Perhaps due to the deep cleaning, the faint, lingering fragrance Lin Ye had inhaled on the way there was now completely gone.
Zhang Wen didn't return to the office. He had decided to move up the timeline for calling his father about the project, so he had Lin Ye drop him off at his father's place instead. When he stepped out of the car, he looked ambitious, already showing signs of a budding leader.
The Maybach lived up to its reputation as a top-tier Mercedes model; at city speeds, the ride was so smooth that one could probably keep a cup of water on the dashboard without spilling a drop.
The car was incredibly quiet after Zhang Wen left—so quiet that Lin Ye could almost hear his own heartbeat.
After parking in the basement, Lin Ye checked the time. It was almost time for his rotations through the various departments. According to the company's schedule, he was supposed to head to the design department first.
This was his first time meeting the head of the design department. She was standing by the office window, the sunlight streaming through the sheer curtains and bathing her in light, tracing a curvaceous silhouette.
"Hello, you must be the new secretary, Lin Ye, right?"
The figure by the window turned around, her dress swaying gently with the movement, revealing an effortless elegance.
A flash of awe crossed Lin Ye’s eyes. The designer of this company's women's lingerie department was far more beautiful than he had anticipated.
Since the company specialized in men’s and women’s lingerie and was a leader in the city, the position of design head held by Jiang Qingge was no small feat.
"Yes, Sister Jiang. You can just call me Lin Ye. I’ll likely be causing you some trouble in the coming days, so please bear with me."
Jiang Qingge’s eyes brightened slightly. At first glance, Lin Ye’s looks and physique alone were enough to make a fashion designer like her feel quite favorable toward him.
"Oh, a handsome young man! You’re quite good-looking, and your words are sweet, too. Come, come, sit by me and let me show you the ropes."
Lin Ye felt a bit awkward. He thought Sister Jiang’s words sounded a bit strange, though he couldn't quite put his finger on why. Regardless, this was a company-assigned task.
Lin Ye pulled up a chair and sat about two body-lengths away from Jiang Qingge. This shy demeanor made her cover her red lips and giggle, and she leaned even closer to him.
Having a designer lean in was no small matter. Perhaps driven by professional habit, she began kneading his shoulders the moment she got close.
Lin Ye wanted to pull away, but Jiang Qingge began explaining the design philosophy of the department, using Lin Ye’s own body for a quick demonstration.
Before long, even through his clothes, the fact that Lin Ye had an eight-pack was clearly... understood by Jiang Qingge. Or rather, felt.
Of course, Lin Ye didn't come away empty-handed; he did learn quite a lot from her.
As he was leaving, she didn't forget to call him back, smiling brightly. "Oh, and one more thing, little brother Lin Ye—don't forget what I told you~"
