Chapter 15: The Stolen Fiancé
“Second Uncle, are you really sure you don’t want to go take a look?” Although Jing Yunluo had a backup plan if Jing Yan didn’t go out, he felt it was best if the backup plan could be avoided altogether.
But judging by the current situation, it seemed the primary plan was falling apart.
While Jing Yan was distracted, Jing Yunluo quietly sent a message.
At the same time, Gu Ning’s phone received a WeChat message:
‘Jing Yunluo: Brother, Plan B.’
‘Gu Ning: Got it.’
After Gu Ning and Yang Wan finished their meal, Jing Yan still hadn’t shown up. Yang Wan felt a bit disappointed. As they stepped out of the restaurant, Gu Ning offered to walk Yang Wan home.
“It’s late, it’s not safe for you to go home alone. Come on, I’ll take you.”
Yang Wan initially intended to refuse, but Gu Ning gave her a meaningful glance. Suddenly, she understood and nodded in agreement.
Gu Ning grabbed Yang Wan’s wrist and led her toward his car.
Yang Wan was taken aback, unsure why Gu Ning, who had just been so polite, suddenly acted this way. Instinctively, she tried to pull away.
But Gu Ning wasn’t about to let her go so easily—impossible!
From Jing Yan’s perspective, this scene looked like Gu Ning had ill intentions toward Yang Wan, and she was desperately resisting...
Jing Yan wanted to signal Jing Yunluo to push him forward, but he suddenly realized both Jing Yunluo and Fu Chen had vanished.
He then tried to move on his own, but his wheelchair was inexplicably stuck.
Of course, this was all Jing Yunluo’s doing.
“Luo Luo, is this really okay?” Fu Chen, unaware that Jing Yan’s legs were almost fully healed, thought Jing Yunluo was being too harsh.
Jing Yunluo glanced at Fu Chen. “Fu Chen, do you know one flaw you have when it comes to me?”
“W-What?”
“You never believe me immediately!”
After saying this, Jing Yunluo reached out and tapped Jing Yan’s leg from a distance.
Suddenly, Jing Yan felt sensation returning to his legs!
Watching as Yang Wan was about to be driven away, Jing Yan summoned all his strength, stood up, and staggered toward her.
Years of not standing had left him unsteady, and even with Jing Yunluo’s divine aid, his steps were faltering.
“Wanwan!” Jing Yan called out anxiously.
Yang Wan instinctively turned around and caught sight of Jing Yan nearly falling.
Yang Wan immediately shook off Gu Ning’s grip and ran toward Jing Yan...
In the end, Yang Wan caught him, and they both fell to the ground.
Jing Yan’s right palm was scraped, and Yang Wan’s left leg had some abrasions, but otherwise, they were unharmed.
“Jing Yan, you can walk! Your leg is healed!” Yang Wan, though she had hoped for this day, never expected it to come so soon.
Jing Yan was stunned, unable to process what had just happened.
“Jing Yan, let me help you stand. Try walking, okay?” Yang Wan’s eyes reddened. Over the years, she had been waiting for this moment, once even losing hope alongside him.
“Okay.” Jing Yan’s voice trembled. His mind was a whirlwind. Suddenly, he recalled how Yang Wan and Jing Yunluo had been urging him all these days to have faith, to believe he still had a chance to stand.
Jing Yan found it natural that Jing Yunluo believed his legs could recover after all these years apart. But why did Yang Wan, who had been by his side for so long, still hold onto this hope so persistently? Today, he finally understood.
Though unsure exactly how it had been done, it was undeniably a blessing.
“Wanwan, my leg is healed.” As they stood, Jing Yan’s voice grew shaky, then choked up, tears slowly spilling from his eyes...
Yang Wan nodded, her own eyes red: “Yes, it’s healed. You can stand again.”
“During this time, have you two been treating my leg in my room every afternoon?” Jing Yan thought through all possibilities, but he hadn’t seen anyone else, never even left the house.
So this seemingly impossible idea was the only explanation.
“It wasn’t me—it was Luo Luo. When the chairman was unconscious, she went to study traditional Chinese medicine. Every afternoon, she burned incense in your room to help you sleep, and once you were asleep, she would perform acupuncture on you.”
Yang Wan helped Jing Yan to his wheelchair.
“Your legs are just fine now. Don’t push yourself.”
“I want to go home.”
Jing Yan instinctively sought a safe place to confirm his condition.
“Okay, I’ll take you home.”
Watching their retreating figures, Jing Yunluo felt a quiet sense of accomplishment.
“Brother, thanks!”
Jing Yunluo and Fu Chen appeared beside Gu Ning, none of them making a move to help Yang Wan and Jing Yan up.
“No need to thank me. If you really want to show gratitude, give me a bigger cut in the new deal.”
“Tch! Businessman!”
Jing Yunluo rolled his eyes.
Gu Ning raised an eyebrow and pointed at Fu Chen: “You and your fiancé are businessmen too. I advise you to think carefully before replying.”
Hands on his hips, Jing Yunluo glanced right at Gu Ning and left at Fu Chen: “No business without trickery, no trickery without business. You two are no different!”
“Hey! You’re biting the hand that feeds you!”
“Nyah nyah nyah! If you’re so brave, hit me!”
“Jing Yunluo, don’t think I’m afraid!”
“Then try me!”
Watching the banter, Fu Chen suddenly felt a pang of insecurity. The jealousy he had managed to suppress during lunch resurfaced.
[Master, target’s affection increased by 5%. Current affection: 70%. Keep it up! Love is just one step away!]
Only now did Jing Yunluo realize Fu Chen was jealous. She quickly called a truce with Gu Ning, then took Fu Chen and left, saying as they walked, “Gu Ning, please see my second uncle and future aunt safely home. Thanks!”
“Don’t go too far—”
“This time, I’ll let you have two points!”
“Alright, Miss Jing!”
Fu Chen was even more surprised. Where had the polite gentleman from lunch disappeared to?
But this only heightened Fu Chen’s sense of threat. After all, Gu Ning could be so candid around Jing Yunluo—this was clearly more than just friendship!
At the thought, Fu Chen’s expression darkened instantly.
In the car:
“That Gu Ning… he seems very different around you.”
Fu Chen appeared calm but inside, his jealousy had shattered completely.
Jing Yunluo hadn’t noticed: “No, he’s always been like that. He seems refined and gentle, but he’s really just a late-stage adolescent. Spend enough time with him, and you’ll see—Gu Ning’s a total goofball and a joker.”
“How long have you two known each other?”
Jing Yunluo thought for a moment. “Hmm… We first met in elementary school. My dad passed away then, and my mom… well, she might as well not have been there. My classmates bullied me after learning about it, but Gu Ning often helped me and even fought for me.”
